It was a nice experience for me to go through so many poems from the renowned poets but the thing that disappointed me was how randomly the selection of poem was done and how no introduction to the poem or the poet was present in the book. It almost felt like someone went to the Poetry Foundation and copied poems for a week and turned that into a book.

This collection is very scattered to say the least. Apart from covering prominent writers of the Romantic era and some others of Pre-modernist era with relative efficacy, the criteria of inclusion feels very obscure and poorly executed.

Since no collection can be all inclusive, we could look beyond that to some extent. But what is really off setting is the formatting (absolutely terrible at some points) and the three-quarter-page illustrations that pop up between poems for no reason. A poem by Lord Byron is wrongly titled (She Walks in Beauty) which is inexcusable.

Also pieces by Mirza Ghalib, Homer and Dante Alighieri have no mention of the translator.

Would not recommend this collection.

This collection of poems was exactly the type of thing I wanted at the moment, as it had everything in balance!
I wasn't surprised that it had Poets like Shelley and Byron, as they are still one of the best poets ever!
Overall, I'm satisfied with the choice I made, because it brought some amazing feelings and emotions with it!

There are a lot of mistakes in this compilation. one of the poem under Rabindranath Tagore is actually by james wright. one of Byron's poem is wrongly titled. the illustartions are useless and the formatting is horrible. overall it was okay for me as I just wanted to explore if poetry is something I would be interested in, so it served that purpose atleast.

Annihilated mostly all of the poems' structure, thus making the exprience futile. The selection's good tho.

I read this collection a long time ago. The poets are very random and the poems are divided by poets. It doesn’t even says the names of the poems in the index. I do adore all the poems but the compilation of all of them is disastrous. I loved to see my all time favourite poem, “The Road Not Taken” by “Robert Frost” and it warmed my heart.

It works if you are just interested in getting into great poems and do not care much about the era or the style.
