Despite the destruction of Hurricane Katrina and the devastating personal losses in the Hingle family, Metsy’s home in Louisiana is safe and sound. Metsy says there was never any question that she would return and be a part of the rebirth of her beloved city. To that end, Metsy has pledged 10% of her earnings from “BLACK SILK” to the New Orleans area Habitat for Humanity. To learn more about Metsy’s pledge, visit her website at www.metsyhingle.com. Metsy resides across the lake from New Orleans with her husband and a bossy toy poodle named Molly Brown. She is currently hard at work on her next novel.
It's been ages since the last time I read a book in the Dynasties: The Connellys series. Finally, another winner in the series for me. Don't get me wrong, this series was good, but the reason I stopped was the last three books that I've read. But this... I think Justin can give Brett (my fave) a run for his money. I always love the "I'm-in-love-with-my-boss" trope. And this one was not an exception. I had so much fun reading this book. It's one of my "angst-done-right" books.
Kim has been secretly in love for months with her boss Justin Connelly. But she can't have any illusions that Justin ill notice her - that's she's a woman, not just his efficient, reliable secretary. But she was dead wrong because Justin had seen her. And when she won the bid/auction, she and Justin had to go on a date she arranged. She decided to indulged her fantasy of one night with her drop-dead gorgeous boss. But one night will be enough?
Justin. He was the ultimate alpha wrapped up in the sweetness, most caring package. And he has the patience of a saint. But when the man got down to business... holy moly! The things he would say and do... damn hot! He's my favorite next to Brett! Kim was such a great heroine. She's tough and vulnerable at the same time. And while she had her moments, I can't help but root for her. I liked the way she held her own against Justin. She is not a pushover by any means.
I appreciate the slow build of their relationship. There's no insta-anything. There's plenty of development to make you believe and feel their romance truly. The sexual tension practically sizzles. And I loved the fact that the author gave us an insight not only into Kim's thoughts and feelings but also into Justin. I'm so happy to see things from both their perspectives. I also loved the supporting characters were just as well developed.
Overall, And The Winner Gets...Married! was such a fun read! I loved Justin and Kim. And enjoyed how real their characters felt. There are many tender scenes, a good amount of steamy scenes, great character development, wonderful supporting characters, and a happy ever after!
She has always had a crush on her boss but she only gets to indulge in her fantasy when she bids on him at a bachelor auction.
A rather simple story with a happy ending of course. A pleasant escape and I was pleased to see that even though there are clear power inequality in their relationship since he is her boss but I think the author deals with it very well.
