In this first book, sturdy die-cut pages that children can flip back and forth reveal the fun details and actions of a menagerie of adorable animals that aren't quite ready for bed. Lizi Boyd is one of the most creative author/illustrators for youngest readers today. This board book is no exception.

A great book to read and talk about nature, as the animals are playing hide and seek in the meadow, by the pond, and in the forest after dark. Simple text sets the tone to play as split-pages on every other 2-page spread encourages little ones to look for the animals in the wild and try to find the ones who are hiding on each two-page spread. -- birds, turtle, rabbit, raccoon, fox, frog, fish, and owl.

Fresh and fun!

For ages 2-4.

Die-cut illustrations on one side of the page can be lifted together or separately to tell different parts of a story. Young readers will have fun trying to guess what will be revealed when they lift the flaps of the sturdy book and see what those animals are up to. It could be that many of them are actually getting ready for sleep. I liked the soft colors used in this imaginative book with guaranteed high child appeal.
