What I loved: This is a great way to introduce scientific concepts to the youngest of readers. All the basics are explained in a very easy to read and understand way. For instance, the ocean has salt, but freshwater does not- meaning Baby cannot drink ocean water, but the salt helps things to float! These simple concepts and bright illustrations will appeal to young children who will enjoy learning alongside the Oceanographer.
Final verdict: A clever and enjoyable way to introduce scientific concepts to older infants and young toddlers, this book is sure to be a hit among children who are exploring the world around them! Simple facts paired with cute illustrations make this a fun read for parents to enjoy with their little ones.
Love the Baby Science concept, and introducing infants and toddlers to the world of science. Baby Oceanographer is adorable. The sentences are simple and appropriate for the age and illustrations are engaging. The vocabulary is wonderful. I love how this book goes from the big world to the child's world and their community. This board book offers a lot of opportunities for parent-child interaction by pointing at pictures and talking about the illustrations to build their language, conducting experiments to test the saltiness or making waves, and looking for the red lobster. This is a huge hit with my niece's twin toddlers too, and they read it to there baby sister.
A very fun and informative board book about a baby oceanographer and marine biologist. Fresh water science is also addressed. The illustrations are cute and eye-catching and the text is the right amount for the age.
This is the perfect introduction to the ocean for toddlers, with charming illustrations by Daniel Wiseman. It’s also the first in a series.
Good board books will be around a for a long time to read again and again. There’ll be a lot to discuss in Baby Oceanographer as the toddler gets older. With each reading little ones will discover the cool facts dropped neatly among the illustrations. What is a tube worm? Are there really starfish? And what plants live in the ocean?
It’s cute, and I feel like it really tries to simplify some pretty complex concepts, but it just kind of misses the mark. It isn’t quite toddler friendly. But the grumpy tube worms are cuteness.
