One night. One body. Vampire Marie Antoinette discovers a legendary monster she can't kill--and a fated love she might die for... When Vampire Sentinel Marie Antoinette slams into a new evil preying on both the human and supernatural creatures under her protection, she reaches out for help. What she finds is a scorching new love with Justin--an all-too-fragile human male. He might have muscles and attitude, but he is human!
Justin's last military assignment took all the joy out of his life. His father has the perfect solution--introduce him to someone with that same faraway look in her eyes. Justin has been dropped into a world he didn't realize existed and discovers an unwanted and deadly attraction to a MUCH older woman. His inexperience with this new reality is liable to get him killed, or worse!
Marie can't resist Justin. But they don't have any time to figure out if their attraction is more than just physical. They must hunt a thousand-year-old cannibalistic monster that can't be killed, rescue a young girl from a pack of rogue werewolves, and deal with Marie's pompous ex-boyfriend. Will they live long enough to discover they are made for each other?

This wasn't the best thing I've ever read, but it wasn't bad either. It made me laugh in a few spots. But, I'm not going to complain since I got it for free on Amazon. A nice way to spend a day :)
This first book on the Vampire Sentinel series is magnificent. I really enjoyed reading about MarieA and her way of life. This book also gives the reader a different perspective on vampires which I really enjoyed. It was really worth the read and to think I have been putting it off. I was crazy to have done that. Ravyn Wilde is another great author Im adding to my favorites list. WELL WORTH THE READ!!! Now on to book 2.
I received a free copy of this boxed set in exchange for an honest review. I didn't really think I was going to like this book but since I like doing reviews and helping authors out, I figured I would step out of my comfort zone of the usual historical romance and I was pleasantly surprised because I really liked Justin and Marie's story. Being a former Special forces member would make one privy to things that would leave one a tortured man and that in itself would be enough by having a relationship with a vampire presents it's own set of problems and when an unseen enemy moves into their midst, it makes their romance even more chaotic. But there were elements of comedy in the story from Maria's two human servants and the overall plot was intensely moving and kept me engaged from the first page. It was a very entertaining read.
Let Them Eat Cake! Famous last words… or are they? Seems Maria Antoinette isn’t really dead. She’s a Vampire Sentinel (just how does a beheaded queen become a vampire?) protecting humans and otherworldly beings. When a dangerous for enters her territory, she needs all the help she can get. This is where she meets Justin. He is retired from the Special Forces – and human. How can a human possibly help defeat such an evil foe? Her doubts become love and their relationship develops among all the chaus. This is a passionate, action filled read with a touch of humor (thanks mostly to her two “man servants” ;D). I found this excellent book to be easy to read and a page turner. I liked the switch up from the more common paranormal male lead and human female lead. Will definitely be looking forward to adding the rest of this series to my “read” list!
Lots of action in this one with a great story line. The characters are well developed. Marie Antoinette is a Vampire Sentinel, a protector of both humans and immortals, but she finds that on this particular job, she needs some help.
As we have come to expect, along with the non-stop action, we can find some laughs but the intrigue, twists and turns keeps the reader moving eagerly through the pages. Awesome read as Justin is introduced to the supernatural world! Their to-do list will be keeping them quite busy as they learn what working together is all about! I definitely recommend this book. It’s engaging and holds the reader’s interest from the start.
Wow!!! Break out the fans! This book is chock full of heat - of the sensual kind. Justin and Maria are sooo hot together! The sex scenes are explicit and don’t beat around the bush. And yet still classy(?). The base story is full of supernaturals and the fight scenes are fantastic. Maria is super tough as well as being a vamp. The few typos didn’t ruin things. I was in too much of a hurry to get to the next page, and the next one. At the end there was space for me to sigh and smile. Fabulous reading, thank you Raven Wilde!
WOW what a story ! Vampire Sentinel, Marie Antoinette meets Justin a retired Special Forces through his dad Bill a police officer, when Marie calls Bill into see what she has found at a crime scene. This book had me going OH NO but at the same time had me laughing this has been one Author that I find her books can do that,so when I am down she is the book to read to lift my spirits. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
So I can see where Marie Antoinette could have been totally misunderstood back in the day. Seriously, teenage king and queen would not be the best at making choices. The Empousai is a new entity to me and sounds as bad as it smells. True love does conquer all, but is not an easy road to travel. I liked that they are both strong. There are a few grammatical errors, like missing or incorrect words, but easy to figure out.
A kick byass paranormal story with a bit of history thrown in! Maria, a raven haired temptress, is actually Maria Antoinette. Not bad looking for someone nearly 300 years old. With her bookends, and lover , Justin, they encounter a sickly creature out of the nightmare of Greek mythology. An 18 plus adventure with blood , sex, language; more sex right up to the climactic conclusion!!
What an interesting concept! Marie Antoinette doesn’t die by the guillotine as she was a vampire. Now 200 years on she is saving humans and paranormals. A human cop, Justin, inspires lust and love. Together they all fight a rare paranormal killer. Fast paced, thriller of a story! Very steamy! If you love paranormal stories this is a great read.
I just couldn't get into this book . It read easy enough but it lacked depth in its characters . One only gets to learn the bare minim about the main characters. There's quite a bit of sex in the book . I think the first half of the book was mostly sex . I don't mind sex but give me a good plot to go with it !
Enjoyable story and a new take on Marie Antoinette, which had me laughing. But all enjoyable characters, easy read, looking forward to reading the next story in the series.
I thought this was going to be a run of the mill police procedural with vampires. It's not. It's paranormal romance. It's still good. I like the premise and I like the characters. Marie's "bookends" are funny and cute. I will be reading the next one.
A well written book. It is very intense from the beginning. I love how Ravyn took a person from history to use as a main character. There is maiming, blood, gore, a little abuse, and death if these are an issue read with caution.
I will never think of Marie Antoinette the same way again! Ravyn Wilde was able to take the “decadent” queen of France and make her into a modern day Vampire that not only kicks major backside, but has become a feared member of the supernatural community. Being the vampire Sentinel for her region means that Marie is more dangerous than anybody would've ever thought. When a new danger comes calling, Marie reaches out to those she trust and in turn meets Justin, the truly scrumptious son of the Chief of Police.
The attraction is instantaneous between Justin and Marie. But there are dangers that lurk in the shadows and she needs help to protect her people and destroy this threat. But Justin is just the person for the job. He is a danger walking, but he has no knowledge of the Others and his introduction to this new world is going to be intense, in more ways than one. The killer in their midst does not discriminate on victims, but will take whatever is available. That means that everyone is at risk, and they may not make it out alive unless they all work together.
To say that I loved this story would be an understatement. The plot of the story is great as it gives a whole new take on Marie Antoinette. There is danger, passion, and humor within this story which will keep readers entertained from the beginning. I really loved Marie’s bookends, or her human servants. They are absolutely irreverent and kept me laughing with some of their antics. This is erotica at its best because it isn’t just about the sex, but the story as a whole. The sex is explosive, but it is the building up of the relationship and the interactions of the characters that I really enjoy. This is definitely a recommended read for me!
The title caught my attention, then the discription pulled me in and to top it off it was a free read from ALL ROMANCE books. I enjoyed the story.. This is worth checking out . I really liked Maria relationship with her bookends (Brian and Matt), and how Justin and Maria relationship develops, even though it was at a fast pace. This is an erotic romance - loads of hot erotic scenes.
Marie Antoinette has seen it all. Lived it all. Now happy with her life, she has nevertheless earned the shadows in her eyes. As leader of the Vampyr Council, she has plenty to do. Her two human servants, Brian and Matt, meet her basic needs, even when they irritate her.
Every need except one—she hasn't had sex in decades.
Then something evil moves into her region, preying on humans and immortals alike. In her search for help, an old human friend introduces Maria to his son.
Justin's life hasn't been easy and he's not looking for a long-term relationship. His final military assignment took all the life out of him. His father has the perfect solution—introduce him to the only person he knows with that same faraway look in her eyes. Intrigued with Maria, Justin is amazed to find this very older woman is his perfect match. As it turns out, he can't live without her—literally.
Throw in an old boyfriend with a chip on his shoulder, a monster they can't kill and a few rogue werewolves and, well…life has never been so complicated. Or exciting.
I will be getting the next one in this series.. :)
I should preface this review by saying that I read this while very impatiently waiting for Hot Ticket to be released, so that may color my perception of the story. I was very blasé about the book, it was not in depth enough for me to be able to fully enjoy it. We have very little history about how Maria was turned, only that she was turned shortly before her beheading. We are told no information about Justin's time in Spec Ops, only that some Really Bad Things happened to him. There's really not much vampire background given at all, which left me with too many questions to be able to enjoy the story fully. It seemed to be a full length story, so this lack of detail is extremely irritating. The love scenes were steamy, and the romance factor was a solid 9 on a 1-10 scale, but in the end it was not enough to redeem the story for me. I'll actually be deleting this one from my Amazon Cloud.
As erotica alone, it might delevers. Unfortunately the plot lacks logic to make the story worth following. I did follow though because the mystery was intriguing enough and really puzzled me but in the end a lot of scenes was not explained so it was a messy and loose story at best. ***Spoiler*** My biggest trouble is that the heroine dreams about or sense when the villain is on the move. It was never explained why she alone was able to and not the hunter who was centuries older than her or all the paranormal characters.
If you are reading for the erotica alone this might be an ok book but if you want the story behind all the sex to make sense this book missed it more than a mile wide.
If you want straight up erotica with very little story getting in the way, this book is perfect. If you want a book with a great story line, action/plot to keep you on your toes and steamy sex, pass on this one. I don't mind all the sex scenes, however this book had a unique story line which could have made for a fantastic book had the author spent more time developing it. You get very little back story or explanations and it leaves you feeling as if you walked into the middle of a movie and can't ask anyone to explain why things are the way they are. When they finally face the major conflict of the story, it is rushed and very anticlimactic.
What would you do if you found out that all the things that you could imagine were real including vampires, werewolves and other creatures of the night. Justin can't believe that his father has known this for years but his attraction to the beautiful vampire who tells him she is Marie Antoinette former Queen of France proves that all is true. I heartily recommend this book to all who love great romantic stories.
Excellent and humorous story! Maria and Justin meet and the sparks fly. Matt and Brian are the bookends with a quirky sense of humor. You have evil , add Maria, Justin, the bookends, Luke and stir well and let the action unfold. Having read Luke and Vlad's stories I can see that women do stick together. Read and enjoy this book and read the others as they are just as good!
