A new generation carries on the legacy of service in the latest Grey Man novella...
Marine Corporal Jace Cronin, a scout/sniper, survived insurgents in the Philippines, only to be handed an even greater challenge: the Naval Academy. He won't be headed in alone, though. Esme Carter got her own slot and is ready to go head to head with him over who's the best. They've got their eyes on lieutenant's bars and pilot slots, and woe betide anyone who gets in the way!
JLC. has penned the sixth novel in the Grey Man series, which begins with young Jace in the USMC and having just returned from the Philippines where he was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry. He is recommended by two Generals and the senior Master Gunner in the Marines to keep he Naval Academy. He finds out the person he considers his sister is going to the Academt. They both graduate and select aviation, get married and move to the West Coast. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Only for fans of the previous books. Curtis tends to write scenes, with not much work getting all the scenes stitched together. It's his style, and after getting used to it with the first book, the following books have more work with a plot setting the scenes and I have liked the books. This final novella for the series is an afterworth of scenes following the grey man's grandson, which barely has a plot. Not much my style, for others it might work as a compendium of short stories with a common theme.
Mr. Curtis has written about two believable characters; Jace and Esmeralda. Their development as young people in a high stress environment rings true as does Jace's carelessness about what is really going on.
Another very good book Jim - enjoyed the book a lot would like to see more
Enjoyed the book a lot looking forward to more books in this series before John joined the Army and in-between John retirement and Jace meeting General Ragsdale. Hoping you are going to do more writing on this series.
