The Great Artist is a book written by Author Robert M. Drake in attempt to write an entire book in 24 hours for his thesis class during college. The book was written in 2009. The book is a test of Robert's endurance and creativity. The entire book from the ground up was created in 24 hours. The Great Artist and the 24 Hour Project.
These poems seemed very similar to Drake's other writing, and while it's good, his poetry has started to not be what I'm looking for when it comes to reading poetry. This collection of poems didn't seem to hold the same power and meaning that his other collections do. 24 hours to write 24 poems makes the poems not as well thought out or don't always have the same feeling behind it.
Fans of the "Instagram Poets" may appreciate Mr. Drake's writing style. My favorite poem in this collection is "The Typo." I especially like this line: "I don't have time to follow the rules." Must be the rebel in me!
