At least I should be, but there's been a treaty with the vampires that has been in place before I was even born. So instead, I'm useless. So useless, my parents won't return my calls or messages. Nothing in my world moves me. Even though they train me for the job I'm supposed to carry out as slayer, what's the use? I'm in a constant state of boredom. Until I see my silver-white haired geometry teacher sneaking around campus... after talking about slayers.
I'm curious...
To a fault. So, I follow him to a place I'd never seen before, and the sights are confusing, impossible, and totally mad. Then on top of it, I smell vampires for the first time in my life. And I start to wonder if I should give in to my slayer instincts, or if doing so will break the treaty and start a war.
NOTE: This is a standalone novella - none of the other books in the series need to be read in a particular order.
Pauline Creeden is an award-winning author, horse trainer, and overall book ninja. She becomes the main character in each of her stories, and because she has ADD, she will get bored if she pretends to be one person for too long.
Armored Hearts, her joint effort with author Melissa Turner Lee, has been a #1 Bestseller in Christian Fantasy and been awarded the Crowned Heart for Excellence by InDtale Magazine. Her debut novel, Sanctuary, won 1st Place Christian YA Title 2013 Dante Rosetti Award and 2014 Gold Award for First Place YA Horror Novel.
It was a 3.5* read for me. Pretty short. But nice nonetheless. It was more like a short story than a novella. I think this could be developed into a full length novel, and the action timed some years in the future. It would be kick ass :)))
Author Pauline Greeden brings us the next tale in the Wonderland Guardian Academy series with Alice the Vampire Slayer. One day while Alice is in class she over hears one of her teachers talk about possible Vampire activity in a club called Underland which prompts her to check it out after a partial slumber party with a few of her class mates. She shrinks down to the size of a quarter and sneaks into the car of the teacher whom she over heard the vampire news from. Once there she is confronted by the Red Queen and is accused of ringing a pool game that made her lose. She is then knocked out and taken to the vampire high court to stand trial. This is an interesting retelling of the Alice in Wonderland tale and I highly recommend this series for all fantasy lovers.
This Alice is a vampire hunter. She can shrink or enlarge herself at will. She's part of the Wonderland Guardian Academy but there's been a peace treaty with the vampires for the past twenty years so she hasn't exactly had much experience.
So naturally she has a problem when she finally runs into some vampires. The Hatter is in the story along with Regina Heart and Chester Katz (the Cheshire Cat) . Regina cheats at pool then blames Alice and Alice is subject to being put on trial.
It's sort of an interesting book but it's also another one that uses names and people from Alice in Wonderland but it could just as well have been done using non-Alice names.
So Alice is a vampire slayer that has never killed a vampire. There’s a treaty in place since before she was born. But one day she follows one of her teachers to a club called Underland and she finds herself in a bind with a vampire queen.
This was a fast moving, don't blink or you're going to miss something book. It was not necessarily my favorite but it was pretty interesting. It was, I will say way to fast. Plus forgiving parents at the end was too quick, I think. In a word it was different.
This was a great take on the Alice story. I loved the vamp twist in the story. I just wish it was longer and went into more detail so the story continued.
