The Little Red Hen was a childhood favorite. I always read this to balance the righteousness of the red hen. The Little Yellow Chick is planning a party and again the friends do not want to help. Title: The Little Yellow Chicken Author:Joy Cowley Genre: Children Picture book Type: Fiction
Humour and illustrations aside, this story has the perfect moral for really young kids. Although simple, Joy Cowley uses her ability to relate to young children by delivering a message at the end where the Little Yellow Chicken earns the respect it deserves from it's selfish friends who realise they have been rather inconsiderate by ignoring the Little Yellow Chickens plea for help in setting up a dinner party. Simple literature yet effective rhyming which gives the story a nice tune.
