Ahhh that ending was too abrupt! I need more!!

Lisa Renee Jones has many strengths in her writing skills. I think she is a fabulous storyteller. She develops characters that are perfectly balanced for each other. She just knows how to give them personalities that work off of each other, one not overpowering another, but support and deep connection between them.
She also has the amazing ability to craft a story that is intricately detailed, not overwhelming, yet with plenty of anticipation; just the right amount of suspense and wonder. Not only that but she writes the most amazing love connections out there. Hot as hell and extremely memorable.
This book is a wonderful part two in this series of great attorneys and dirty DA’s. Teaming up with other friends that we’ve seen and met in books past make it an interesting story and she even ties in a little bit of a cliffhanger so we can look forward to the next book in the series.
Ever After is uber hot and sexy, richly detailed, intricately laid out, offering a bit of suspense, and a beautifully tied together plot. Just an overall awesome read!
Definitely read book one, Dirty Rich Cinderella Story first so you get the full impact of this great series. Then pick up the rest of them. It’s so worth it!!

So. Much. Better.
While I didn't miraculously fall in love with Lori this time around, I definitely liked her a heck of a lot more. I thought this was going to be a typical extended epilogue. Maybe a glimpse into Cole and Lori's honeymoon and a bit of what happens next for them. This story was so much more. And that's exactly what it was... another story. It had plenty of romance, but there were elements of danger and intrigue as well. LRJ gave us so much more than anything I could have expected. If you thought this was going to be your run-of-the-mill sappy peek at their happily ever after, think again!

Re the story ---
I jumped to this book right after I read/listened to Dirty Rich Cinderella Story which is book 2 in the series. This one is listed as #5, but since it takes place only a few months after the end of book 2, I don't see any reason why you would need to wait to read it, and in fact, it seems to make the most sense to go to this one right after finishing their first story. You definitely shouldn't read this one before reading book 2.
When we left Cole and Lori, they were on their way to "happily ever after," and while the cover art for this book and the tag line suggest this is going to be about their honeymoon, it is definitely not. The first chapter is the end of their honeymoon; the rest of the story takes place when they get back to the real world and the challenges they encounter as they start to feel their way around how to balance life with respect to their working relationship and their life as a married couple.
When they arrive home, they face some fallout from their last case: some people were convinced that their client was guilty and blame Cole and especially Lori (because she delivered the closing statement that many say won the case) for letting the person they believe to be the killer loose. Cole finds that he has a protective instinct and drive that might result in pushing Lori away if he isn't too careful, and Lori realizes that she has to communicate openly and appropriately with Cole so that he knows he has her trust.
To make things even more interesting, Cole's former assistant (Ashley who was his assistant in Houston that he really wanted to bring with him but she ran off to Europe with her fiance in the earlier story) has returned after being detained by French officials who believe her fiance was a spy and she is somehow involved. Once Cole is able to get her stateside, things only get more intense for her as she tries to reconcile what she knew and believed about her fiance and what is happening now. But the bulk of the story is around Cole and Lori navigating their new lives together.
What I liked:
--- The story was not what I was expecting (I thought it was going to be a honeymoon novella kind of thing), but I liked what the author did with it - the story was more interesting with the trying to settle back into life and obstacles that were thrown at them out of the gate
--- Minimal unnecessary angst - when there were issues or miscommunications, they came out quickly bc the couple communicated well with each other, which I appreciated bc I do not care for manufactured angst
--- GOOD LORD the steamy goodness!!
What I didn't like as much:
--- There may be more to what was happening with the DA in earlier books (the Dirty Rich Cinderella stories are the only ones I have read thus far), but
Re the Audible version ---
These are the same narrators who performed the Audible version for Dirty Rich Cinderella Story, so my comments are similar to the ones I shared then. The female actor did a really good job, even when she was performing the male voices; the male actor sometimes drove me a little crazy when he was doing the female voices, especially the h's because he would tail off at the end of the sentences after going up a few notches making everything she said sound like either a question or a whine. I will say that is may be possible someone shared this feedback with him between when he did the first book about these two and when he recorded this one because it wasn't as bad this time. Otherwise, it was a good one to listen to on Audible.
Overall, it was a VERY steamy story with some interesting happenings along the way that clearly set things up for future installments in the series.
(As a side note --- I would really like there to be a book about Savage (former special ops and hottie badass who is a member of the security team Cole employs to keep Lori and his colleagues safe) in this series or in another bc his character sounds interesting!)

I'm so in love with this series! I loved watching Lori and Cole’s relationship grow. I just fell in love with this couple all over again... I just enjoyed everything about this book, it has all the feels... 4 solid stars !

Wow! This book has me really excited for more in the series. I really wasn't expecting this to be jam packed with so much going on. I thought it was going to be a cute look into Cole and Lori's honeymoon and all the loving these two were getting up to now that they are settling in the happily ever after.
What we got was Cole going all dominant and protective on Lori when they return from their honeymoon. After the big and very public trial that they just won, there is a threat out there against Lori. Now that Cole knows what life is like with her in his life, he is not willing to allow anyone to take her away from him. Ladies, it was pretty hot!
We got introduced to some new characters that may or may not remain side characters. I'm intrigued to see where the author is going with them. She also hooked me on that last case Lori accepted. Since this ended with it's beginning, I'm hoping that means we get to see it all play out in a new book.
It could also mean she just wanted to show Lori getting past a few bumps and this was the perfect way to get things back to normal. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. ARC provided by author.

Lori and Cole.
We already read how they met and insta-fell for each other in the first book.
And now they're on their honeymoon in Paris.
Everything could be all happily ever after, but once we're back in New York the trouble is already waiting. Big trouble!
There've been threats against them - especially against Lori - from people connected to the victims of the 'serial killer' Lori defended. He is innocent, but those poor families need to blame someone. Now we just have to stay alive while finding the real killer! And we might have a few tiny little other 'problems' too!

Well, that was very adorable and verrry sexy and very exciting!
Due to my Bookalzheimer I couldn't remember what happened in their first book - but after reading my old review I was remembering enough to get started with this one!
I expected a cute little honeymoon novella - but I didn't get that at all!
Yes, we are honeymoonish in Paris for a little while in the beginning. BUT back home it's one thing after another. Mega exciting, dangerous, scary ... all the things are happening ... and I really adored reading this non-novella!
It's not just the bad guys they have to fight. Cole is so horribly scared of losing Lori! He was all alone until he met her - it's so heartbreaking...that poor guy.
This was a great 2nd book for a great couple - I wish more authors would do that! It's always sad to say good-bye to characters once a book ends. This way we'll get them again for a little while!
And we get to see some other people too - plus we'll also get a second book for 2 other couples soon! Yay!
If I had to complain about something - and I can't believe I'm going to say this ... there was a little bit too much sex-having going on. Instead of talking about his feelings Cole always just got Lori naked! LOL. It was a bit much and some of those scenes were just too long.
But I still loved reading their ever after story! ♥

It takes a lot of work to find your happy ever after, and then to hold onto it. Lori and Cole definitely struggle to find what their new normal is when they return from their honeymoon. There is a lot going on in this story and that left us with a book that is constantly moving, revealing new pieces of the puzzle that is the lives of the people around this couple.
I actually enjoyed the fact that despite Lori and Cole being where they want to be, they have to battle their pasts as it rises up to choke them from fully embracing their present. Cole was still perfectly protective and it totally goes against his grain to not tuck Lori somewhere safe where no one can ever hurt her. Together, they communicate, work and love each other until they find a balancing act that works for them.
The pacing here is a bit long with some repetition but it wasn’t enough to stop my overall enjoyment. Secondary characters are either revisited from previous books, given additional development or introduced for the first time. As always, the heat level is extreme and also helps to highlight the continued evolution of this couple’s trust and faith in each other.
This book sets up all kinds of delicious possibilities for future stories and I can’t wait to see where this author will take us.

Wow … could there actually be more to Cole and Lori than we have already seen? Well, I guess so. The Mistress of Romantic Suspense can't help herself. She has to keep taunting us with more and more. And, she did just that with Ever After.
Cole and Lori finally got their HEA in Direct Rich Cinderella but, it didn't come without a little more suspense when they return home from their honeymoon which brings out the demons in Cole. Now, it's up to the both of them to fight those demons and put them to rest. They do, of course, but not without some collateral damage.
I am sure we will be seeing more of Cole and Lori in coming books as well as the mysterious and sexy Walker Security men. But, for now, we have to wonder what really happened to Ashley and hope that there's an explanation in the future. Or, how is Alex going to play into future stories? So many possibilities … so many stories to look forward to from this amazing author.
Lisa Renee Jones, thank you. You are one of my go-to authors for Romantic Suspense and I always look forward to new releases from you. You have the knack of writing a story that keeps a reader on the edge of their seat, that flows off the pages, seamlessly. You keep your readers engaged and interested in the characters. You write love scenes that could short-circuit any e-reader. You just make me happy that I love to read.

Dirty Rich Cinderella Story: Ever After
I went into this book expecting a sort of sweet (and Hot!) catch up story. Maybe a sneak peek into how Lori and Cole are handling married life after the honeymoon. But what I got was SO much more! Lori is a strong character and is not backing down even when faced with the powerhouse that is Cole, so there are definite times that sparks will fly!
“Here’s what I’m going to say to you before we head home. I’m going to be a bulldog about protecting you. You’ll call it controlling. You might even be right. We’ll fight. And we will talk, and then f*** it out. Deal?”
There is so much going on in their lives! Their pasts come barreling in to jumble up the present and worries for the future are sneaking up on them and not to be ignored.
“...sitting down on the side of the tub to watch me, and as silly as it might seem to some, this act, just living life with this woman, cuts and heals at the same moment. It reminds me that she’s a part of me now, and already I barely remember when she was not.”
I just loved how fast paced the story was. It kept me in the story and left me just wanting more!!
“You stand strong for everyone else. Let’s both try standing together to be strong.”

I was so excited when I found out we were going to get more of Lori and Cole! Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. This series has been one amazing story after another. Passion, excitement, action, and intrigue! Each book just as riveting as the last, and this one was no different. I couldn’t put it down.
I loved getting to see Lori and Cole continue to evolve. Alpha male to the max, Cole was intense and unrelenting in his need to protect Lori. Lori continued to show her strength and resiliency. They make such a great team, but Jones definitely gave us some drama with these two. In addition to that, she wove together a complex story line. So many new developments within this story that will lead into future series installments, perhaps even a series crossover?! I can’t wait to see how everything will play out!

Their story left off with me being taken with Cole and Lori. I loved seeing the together with other characters from previous LRJ's stories. Getting a chance to catch up with their lives and seeing secondary characters that have lead to more. I found this one gave Cole and Lori that extra edge of intensity/intrigue and a bit more that was not in the first of their coming together. Now, we get Lori and Cole's HEA. We also find that not everything is as it should be. This was another good read from Lisa Renee Jones. She added the seasoning needed to give Lori and Cole that extra flavor. Come climb inside of the pages of Lori and Cole's journey to HEA.

Cole and Lori are one of my favorite couples by Lisa Renee Jones...I devoured the first book and was thrilled to be able to dive in right away to the second.
I loved so much about this title. The chemistry is between them from the beginning, and it is about a couple who is already together although there's enough to their story for you to be able to pick it up even if you haven't read the first book. That said, you should read the first one, as there is a lot of their history in it and it is an enjoyable read.
As in a lot of the titles by this author, the threat to the relationship is from an external place, and it is one that Cole and Lori sort of need to be together to fully face. I love that, and the idea that while there are challenges as a couple, you really see them as a united front, as a couple committed to being together, and to working it out.
Falling in love is a compelling story...but staying in love is too, and I enjoyed this title. I recommend both!

Dirty Rich Cinderella Story: Ever After is the continuation of Cole and Lori's love story. It starts with their honeymoon in Paris. If you haven't read Dirty Rich Cinderella Story, then you need to read this first in order to really understand the their history and who it affects their path moving forward.
Cole and Lori. I've loved them from the start but I'm always wondering when will they catch a break. They get their happily ever after with their love and marriage but as with anything, there are always going to be situations that you have to face together. Their story is no different. Their past is coming back towards them and they have to fight once again.

Oh my GOODNESS! I didn't think this could get any better but thank goodness we were treated to more of Cole and Lori! We start with them on their honeymoon but it doesn't end there. We are soon back home and Cole has upped his alpha and dominant ways and he is gone all protective on Lori. He now knows what he has and he is not going to lose her to anything or anyone and it seems there is danger afoot. Walker Security has been brought in to continue protecting them since the danger after their last case seems to still be circling. Reese and Cat along with new characters are also prominent in this story. This is a fast paced story and I recommend you put your feet up for an afternoon with a hot and sexy story! Definitely NOT a standalone and you will need to read Cole and Lori's first story before this one.

This is the continuation of Lori and Cole's story which picks up with them on their honeymoon. It covers events we will be familiar with from other books in this series but from Lori and Cole's point of view. The events bring out Cole's over protective side but Lori challenges him every step of the way.
It is the chemistry between these two inside and outside the bedroom that makes these two such an engaging and likable couple. I love how they push each other but give each other the space when it is needed. I love their persistence and their beliefs in both their work and home lives.
This was a full on packed read with lots going on around the couple for them to get their heads around. It felt overwhelming at times but it kept me on my toes.
I loved this read as I have done with every other one of Lisa Renee Jones' books.

I am in love with this couple, the passion they ignite and the deep connection that they carry throughout the pages of this book. They show us over and over how a true relationship must be built on not only trust, but support of each other.

How many times have you read a book and thought I wonder what happens now. I know I have and I loved reading Dirty Rich Cinderella, which is Cole and Lori’s story. Well this is Ever After when we visit them on their honeymoon in Paris. When I say hot I mean HOT and STEAMY, I mean this is their honeymoon and they are newlyweds.
This is a glimpse into the drama that surrounds a newly married couple learning to trust each other. Running a successful law practice and catch up with some more of our old favourites popping in and out. This is not a standalone you need to read Dirty Rich Cinderella first to gain full enjoyment

It’s not just hearts and flowers.
After their fantastic honeymoon things get real and have a dramatic turn when they got home.
Walls come back up but they work it out with the help of their friends, great characters from the other books.
That’s what I like about Lisa’s writing.
Strong, honest and true characters who keep me and them motivated.
I see Walker situations looming in the future of this series but what do I know really?

I loved Lisa Renee started with Cole & Lori story. I love this couple, however I was not expecting the twist of this story, so much packed into this book. One page turner after another. As soon as they left Paris they were hit with one dilemma after another. Cole's past hit them and crippled the couple but as determined and stubborn as Lori is she support her dominated husband and rescued him through all the growing pains as a newlyweds. Their love for each other and the fact they found each other Made them perfect together.
However, I did not like how it ended so many unfinished questions unanswered. The DA, Ashley, Partnership in Houston & the new case, Lori mom's big news. So lets hope Lori & Cole gets another story to finish their story. Even after all that the book was still awesome. Can't wait for Reese and Cat story.

Cole and Lori are BAAAACK…and better than ever!
Dirty Rich Cinderella story was one of my favorite books in the super steamy and uber thrilling Dirty Rich series, so when I found out these GLORIOUSLY-IN-LOVE newlyweds were getting a follow-up story, I was the first to pop the champagne!
But if you envision a honeymoon lovefest with a little half-baked drama and predictable angst thrown in, you could not be more wrong! DIRTY RICH CINDERELLA: EVER AFTER is a provocative, full-bodied novel in its own right. And while just like all its predecessors this is a very erotic read with plenty of filthy hot sex, it is beautifully balanced by a richly layered, exciting plot and heart-gripping emotional intensity that’s guaranteed to keep your pulse racing!
THE SETUP:
As you recall from Part One, Lori and Cole worked together on a high profile murder trial which stirred up a hornet’s nest of dissension! And even though they succeeded on exonerating their wrongly accused client, the real killer is still out there and an unhinged family member of one of the victims is out for blood!
So when the blissful newlyweds return home to NYC after their passionate honeymoon in Paris, reality comes crashing down around them with the “normal” post trial chaos escalating into menacing threats against Lori.
Which, as you can imagine, propels her already overprotective hubby into full-fledged bulldog mode!
If you thought Cole was dominant and crazy possessive in book one, you ain’t seen anything yet! To say he’s a bit…overzealous…about keeping her safe is an understatement. And it causes a bit of discord between him and his fiercely independent lawyer wifey who not only has her own secret anxieties to combat, but she senses that the danger is rousing Cole’s inner demons that up till now he has been able to keep at bay. Hot tempers and blazing passions flare aplenty between this devoted duo as they work in tandem to safeguard each other—and fight valiantly to nurture their love— while trying to rule the world!
MY MUSINGS:
I thought that Lisa Renee Jones did a SPECTACULAR job with this story. I was completely swept up in the soul burning love, the hot, frenzied passion, edge of your seat suspense, and all those adrenaline pumping twist and turns!
It’s truly like no time has passed from book one and the author seamlessly got right back into the groove with Lori and Cole. Their story is exhilarating from start to finish and the ever present danger intermingled with their heady love connection had me riding an euphoric high!
I absolutely relished the blistering sensual intensity and heart palpitating dramatic urgency between this deeply passionate couple and felt that the manner in which they loved and supported each other through thick and thin truly elevated their relationship to a whole new level in this book. But before they can truly bask in their fairytale HEA, they both have ghosts that must be put to rest!
And as the danger intensifies, I was really drawn to the darker, broodier, more VULNERABLE side to Cole that we have not been privy to in book one. You can FEEL his heartbreaking desperation to keep his beloved wife safe all costs and how the prospect of harm befalling Lori has him nearly losing his frigging mind. Which puts a bit of a damper on their wedded bliss because for the first time ever, this powerful, self assured criminal attorney, who never fails to stays calm, cool and collected in the face of adversity, feels like his world is spiraling perilously out of control. And it causes him to react in ways that sometimes stifles his fiercely independent wife's sensibilities! But eeep there is a reason behind his madness!
And after he finally strips his soul bare and trusts Lori with his darkest, most agonizing truth that's been a driving force in his life—and at the root of his insane need to protect her— she gets him in a way she never has before. And comes through for her gorgeously power-suited man big-time!! But as with all of LRJ’s couples, the love and support goes both ways. I adore how, despite his own inner torment, Cole is there to cherish and reassure and protect Lori when her old fears and insecurities also chip away at her.
Bottom line? These two fiery, strong willed lovers have a few more bumps in the road to traverse, but even when they fight and clash and hurt, they CANNOT. BE. BROKEN. Their love is eternal and together they are unstoppable!!
Another one of my favorite things about this series is how the side characters are brilliantly woven into the central storyline, and this novel is no exception. Ms. Jones never fails to build delicious anticipation for subsequent books…and now of course I am dying to find out what happens next!
FINAL VERDICT:
Lisa Renee Jones took my breath away with DIRTY RICH CINDERELLA STORY: EVER AFTER. I fell even harder under the spell of this dynamic duo in this high octane, explosively sexy book, and it truly is the perfect denouement to Lori and Cole’s fairytale love story!

Well, that summary doesn't give us much to go on, which is a blessing and a curse. The story where we see Lori and Cole come together is one that's so intense, complex and thankfully full of a happy ending that we can just hope that they have their happily ever after. Well, there's way way more to go on with this continuation of their saga.
We start off in Paris where they are enjoying their honeymoon, a trip that they're able to take after closing a successful case where a man who was innocent continues to be found that way. It's such a high profile case though that there's unrest and protesting back in the US, that Cole at least gets advance warning that not all will be well upon their return. Bodyguards are put in place and we get to see the Walker Security men back in full force. Savage and Smith are fast becoming our favs.
Even before they head back to the states, we see Cole go into protector mode, which is something that has never worked for Lori. Yes she trusts and loves him unconditionally, but we also know that control is something that she needs to survive and without it, her life is upside down. Cole takes control away from her before they get home, and then once they are home because Lori's attacked by a family member of one of the victims of the case that they just won. All heck breaks loose and there's a fast and furious hunt for who's truly behind everything.
In this continuation saga too, we get Cat/Reese back in a big way, along with Reid who we sort of saw this parallel timing from his story w/ Mia. I think that it's really impressive how our author was able to write all these stories that are essentially parallel path without spilling too much to make it moot to read.
The even nicer thing about this plot is that there's yet another twist that we never saw coming - the Ashley story line. we knew that she had left the firm to go to Paris with her boyfriend who turned out to not be who he seemed. As a result, we recall that Ashley needed the firm's legal counsel to get back to the states and clear of charges. what charges - we never really learned. Well, in this story - it gets even dicier for Ashley since her ex seems to be back and there's a deeper story than anyone could have imagined and to be honest, deeper still that i don't know that we'll ever get answers. Who is he, what did he do, what was Ashley's role and what does she know that she's not telling us.
If that's not exciting enough of a plot line, we have the insane amounts of heat and chemistry between Cole and Lori to keep us going. They have the most intense scenes together that if you didn't believe that heat and passion could leap off a page, well here's proof that all is possible. Baby scares, romance that's taken to another level, scenes that are elevated up a notch - and well, we get to the end of this book way faster than imaginable.

The second part of the "Dirty Rich Cinderella Story", "Dirty Rich Cinderella Story: Ever After" once again draws the reader in as Lisa Renee Jones brings the characters of Lori and Cole to life. But this book is much more than a simple sequel or epilogue, following a newly married couple on their honeymoon. Not surprisingly, the author makes a bold move: we have just tasted the happiness of the protagonists in the first novel when the first serious difficulty arrives.
The newlyweds returning from their honeymoon are faced with the consequences of a previous case, and as a result, they are not seen as the heroes by everyone. After all, Lori's successful closing statement is seen by many as the clearance of a guilty man, which causes great tension around the two attorneys. Public pressure, the impact of the media, and the pain of the victims' families are all intertwined in this dark, suspenseful story. The reader can feel the overwhelming tension and the vulnerability of the lovers throughout as they find themselves at the centre of the accusations.
