I enjoy writing and reading action/adventure, thrillers, romantic suspense, and fantasy.

I grew up reading Tom Clancy, Michael Crichton, and the Bourne books. I write seeking to create that level of action and intrigue but with female heroines. The love the quote, ‘She needed a hero. So she became one.’ My novels have empowered women overcoming powerful obstacles and the strong men who support them.

A Dr. Whyte Adventure
A stolen nuclear bomb. Sworn enemies forced together.  A race to save the world.

The last person emergency room doctor Lillian Whyte expects to collide with while on her vacation is the ruthless mercenary from her past.  When she learns a stolen nuclear weapon is loose in Europe, she’s launched into a dangerous race to track and secure the weapon.

As Lillian faces the fears of her past and threats of the present, can she secure the future of the world before the clock runs out, or will the dark forces acting against her succeed in their deadly plot?
Total Score: 5/5

Summary:

This was a roller coaster ride as the story begins with Lillian, an ER doctor, takes out an abusive husband who threatens her and her patient, his wife. Now that in itself would be considered unusual because most doctors would not know how to defend themselves, but Lillian is anything if not unique. Her husband, Sean, is Ex-CIA and he has taught her in ins and out of more than just self defense. Lillian takes her medical oath to protect very seriously and never leaves anything half done. In the past it has lead her into very sticky situations both dangerous and deadly. Now you would think a vacation to Iceland would be quiet and peaceful, but that is not exactly how it went. Lillian meets up with an old foe, Ivan, who it seems is determined to fix a mistake he unknowingly took part in. The race is on to save lives and prevent a holocaust form happening. With just her wits about her, Lillian teams up with Ivan as they attempt to keep Sean and the CIA in the know while trying to locate a nuclear bomb before it is too late.
At first glance Ivan appears to be a hardcore villain, but as the secrets of his life are revealed the reader quickly realizes that there is a reason why he has changed.

This was a fast paced intricate story that never let up until the very last page. I look forward to reading other book by C. B. Samet.

CB Samet's Gray Horizon is closed door romantic suspense that is best enjoyed by those who appreciate more action/suspense than romance. Approximately two years after the second book in the series, Whyte Knight, we’re reunited with Dr. Lillian Whyte and her CIA operative husband Sean Jennings. This time Lily & Sean are separated and working parallel angles to hunt down and dismantle a nuclear bomb.

There were small blurbs/paragraphs in each chapter that were snippets of DOD reports from after the main action was occurring. To me, they felt disruptive of the flow and pacing of the story without adding anything useful. I also initially struggled with Lillian’s place in hunting for the nuke.

Setting those two points aside, I still really enjoyed this book. Because Lily and Sean are in different countries working their own angles, this feels like multiple stories cohesively coming together for one suspense filled book. There are a lot of action sequences in this one which made it difficult when I had to pause (who needs dinner?).

I loved the epilogue giving us the perfect closing to the series. Though, I wonder whether she’s opened the door to a new series featuring Lillian’s brother, Jonathan and his operative girlfriend. Because I would be absolutely thrilled to be transported to that world with Samet at the helm.

Leslie Howard repeats her fantastic performance from the first two books. She gives each character, even from other countries, consistent and distinguishable accents. Specifically, Howard’s voice is often a “competent calm” that compliments Lillian’s character perfectly. She evokes emotion and tension in a way that heightens the action.

I received a complimentary copy of this book via "Voracious Readers Only".
This book grabbed my attention right from chapter one and held on throughout. I couldn’t put it down! Its action packed and fast paced with interesting and varied characters. I particularly enjoyed the strong female lead, Lillian, and the progression of her relationship with her “partner” Ivan. With that being said, I do feel as though some of the characters only existed to provide “colour” and did not help to move the story forward. This book is part of a series and I get the sense that reading the previous installments would be helpful in understanding the character development, however it is still comprehensible and enjoyable. The author does a great job of explaining events from the previous novels that are essential to understanding events in the current (mainly related to the main characters’ relationships), without making it obvious or giving it a forced feeling. She achieves an interesting balance between suspense and comedy, making this thriller feel lighthearted and approachable.
Overall I do recommend this book and I plan on reading the other novels in the series.

This is a really engaging book. Once Dr. Whyte lands in Iceland and the adventure kicks into high gear, I literally didn't put the book down until it was over. I really like Samet's voice, and her characters are fantastic—especially Ivan. He's a complex character and while he definitely has a bad-guy streak, he's easy to root for here—even when you're not really sure you should.
This is the third book in the Dr. Whyte Adventure Series, but I didn't read the first two before reading this one—but I didn't have any issues with that. I actually liked this so much I went and bought the first book in the series!

Lillian and Sean are back and end up saving the world again. The story started out simple as Lillian and Sean are about to go on vacation to Iceland and then turns crazy as expected from a Whyte story. It was fast paced, full of action, and crazy scenes as Lillian wonders around Europe and Sean plays CIA analyst. It was very addicting from the beginning as I read it all in one sitting. Add in some funny scenes and bad jokes, I was very entertained. I loved that my favorite secondary characters all show up. Plus the ending was the best and made me laugh loudly. A great story as expected from a thriller, especially since it is the third in the series.

I received a review copy of this book from the author through Voracious Readers. This is the third book in a series but can be read as a standalone novel. I have not read the first two books, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story is a fast paced, action packed adventure from beginning to end. The characters are captivating and engaging. The writing is sharp and smart and flows nicely. The plot is riveting and intense, with many unexpected twists and turns and suspense that just keeps on building. The story kept me on the edge of my seat and I had a hard time putting this book down. This is full on action and adventure at its best!

From the very first explosive pages, Dr Lillian Whyte proves she’s no wilting wallflower. A planned holiday to celebrate her and ex CIA agent, Sean Jennings anniversary in Iceland, sees Lillian travelling alone, as her husband has to help track down a stolen nuclear bomb. As she lands in Iceland, her nemesis, Mercenary Ivan, corners her, begging her to help stop a nuclear bomb, he’d inadvertently helped facilitate the theft of, and so the odd bedfellows set off on a dangerous and high octane race through Europe, to try to stop the detonation. Good characters, and a gripping story. If you like fast paced thrillers, this is for you!

This is the third installment in the amazing Dr. Whyte Adventure Series. I loved to follow Lillian and Sean in their captivating adventure. They have to a strong personality, and they are both determined, supportive, and brave. The cast of supporting characters is impressive. The storyline is suspenseful, and action packed. The back and forth, past to present, is well done, intriguing, and easy to follow. This is a great conclusion to the Series. Leslie Howard did a wonderful job with the narration. She has a beautiful voice, pleasant to listen to. If you like Romantic Suspense, this one is definitely for you. I highly recommend it.

This suspenseful page turner staring one truly dynamic woman is so engaging and reads so true to life you feel as though you're there with Lillian. Her natural instincts honed by previous encounters lead her into the fray to protect any in danger. But protectiveness is not the only emotion this tale evokes. Mercenaries can change when they have a reason to and seemingly loyal patriots can be conspirators in great wrongs. Can Sean and associates follow Lillian and Ivan's clues to save a major European city? Don't miss this thrilling story.

A big thank you goes to @voraciousreadersonly for introducing me to another great author! Lillian is not your ordinary ER doctor- she has a past that includes saving the world. So when a man who tried to kill her appears during her vacation, she is a little unwilling to believe him when he asks her to stop a nuclear threat. Going against her instincts, she ends up taking his word and gets swept into an international mission to take out a stolen nuke before its murderous thief detonates it. I give this book 👍🏼👍🏼!

I enjoyed this book. I loved the premise that although her husband is a CIA agent it is a woman, and ER doctor that saves the day. It also shows how couples can work together to achieve great ends and that petty jealousies don’t have to get in the way.
I also love the plug for adoption and the redemption of a man who had previously tried to murder her.
Full Disclosure- I was provided with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I received an advance reader copy of this book. I’ve been eagerly awaiting anything new from this amazing author. Each book blows me away with her attention to medical detail and realistic situations. I don’t want to give anything away but my heart raced, I cried once or twice, and if I could meet these characters in person I know I’d had a blast. Can’t wait for more!
