Jess’s scarred back hides her greatest secret: she is the next daughter in the prophecy. She’s terrified of her impending fate and flees the safety of Castle Belmont to finish her scientific research. Jess is determined to outrun her destiny, but she forgot about one thing: A vampire named Eli York.
Hunters killed his brother. Shifters destroyed his family castle. Jess Chaplin is the only thing Eli has left in this world and he’s not letting her go without a fight. The dark vampire has protected the red headed human all her life, but the threads of fate are twining now, and he can’t ignore the woman she has become. Together they journey across the valley and uncover a secret that has been hidden for twenty years, while trying to resist the insatiable attraction that now burns between them. Vampirism corrupts. Innocence withers. There’s no way it could ever work… is there?
War has finally arrived in the valley and Belmont Castle is about to fall for the first time in a thousand years. The High Vistor has brought an army to destroy the Belmont family and end the prophecy once and for all. If he succeeds, then all vampires will perish.
Will evil triumph over good? Will the mates succeed with the prophecy? Is something even greater afoot?
There’s only one way to find out.

Tales of Vampires 5 tells the story of Eli and Jess. It can be read on its own but is probably best enjoyed with the full series. This book features the title couple, the return of Ruth and Logan and all the regular vampires from Castle Belmont (including Eric and Claire of course). Tales 5 is 120,000 words, action-packed, hot to the touch and has a HEA. Books 6 and on coming soon!
It's a big world and there's a lot out there that still remains unexplained and undiscovered. Come with me as I explore these worlds, let's uncover it together.

If you've followed this series so far, you'll understand this. THIS is the one I've been waiting for. The answers to allot of questions. The who/what/when/how of this vampire world. But, it also brings new questions, and more waiting for the new books. I can't wait!
I’m really tired of reading a book where I pretty much like everything else, but cannot stand the FMC. Jess knows the prophecy and the outcome of what happens to all vampires if it is not fulfilled. She’s lived with vampires her entire life. She knows the good and the bad about them, and wants to do everything she can to save them. She also knows that she is the third sister in the prophecy because she has the birthmark to prove it. Knowing this, what does she do? She runs from it. She flees Belmont Castle because all she can think about is continuing her research on creating synthetic blood. SO I CAN SAVE THEM! But what the bitch forgets is that if the prophecy isn’t fulfilled, all the vampires die. DIE. The need for synthetic blood will no longer exist!
She spends the majority of the book using this as an excuse to avoid the inevitable with Eli York. She has been his blood slave since she turned 16 and was at York Castle when she was rescued as a little girl. For his part, Eli has fought his feelings for her for the past 5 years of their “relationship.” He finally gives in to his desires with her and accepts his part in the prophecy as her mate. But of course she has to be stupid about it. First, she doesn’t want a physical relationship because it will get in the way of her research (like when did she get her education/training to be such a gifted scientist? Uh huh, right.) Then she decides that they can have sex, as long as they keep emotions out of it. Then she decides that she’s in love with him, so she has to push him away. But she still wants sex with him. Oh for fuck’s sake. I couldn’t fucking stand her and got to the point where I hated Eli for giving in to her all the time at one point he’s even apologizing to her! . You’ll have to check out my notes and highlights for specifics. I warn you, they’re not pretty.
One of the few redeeming things about this book are all the secondary characters that are in it, as it culminates with the epic battle at Belmont Castle against the Vistor. The overarching storyline and some of the other characters are the only things that contributed to the 2 stars this book got. I came very close to not finishing the book 2 times. I just really couldn’t find my last fuck to care about Eli or Jess.
I did like that the final chapters of the book was an update on each couple, so it definitely had the feeling of a complete series. However, there are 4 more books in this series. While they are set in this same world, they explore another prophecy (another one?!) that is related to the “body” that is Vistor and Lucifer himself. The epilogue of this book lays the groundwork for the next books. However, this book seemed to be a good ending place, and the next 4 books should be a separate spinoff series.
I like the way the story unfolded. It gave much needed clarity to the finer nonobvious things. The happily ever after......temporarily........is even sweet. Granted at times too sweet. One main critique is the constant over use of each of the characters last names. It gets to be over kill after awhile....and a little annoying. I would definitely recommend this book to all!
Love love loved this book! By far and away the best yet. Even though the book didn't solely focus on Eli and Jess, I loved that everyone becomes 1 happy family. I've missed the other characters of this story from the very beginning. Granted, there were some very wicked twists and turns, but wow! Zara Novak is a genius. I cannot wait to see where this story goes from here.
Love this series. Refreshingly good read with well tied together stories from book to book; full of adventure, suspense, and hot passion. Love the “cookie crumbs” connecting ideas and plots. My favorite new writer - equally as good as JR Ward. What a series!!!!!!!
I'm not a writer nor a critic, just simply an ordinary person that loves fiction and here lately vampire books about finding their soul mates! Zara has an awesome imagination as once I started book 1 I continued through to book 5 and then was disappointed that book 6 was coming soon haha
This book and the first four in this series are amazing! I've always loved the vampire genre and Ms. Novak's take has some general vampire traits but she has made it her own as well with their traits and special powers plus adding in witchcraft and shifters too! I can't wait to start book 6!!!
Good read I thought this would be the end of the series but I am pleasantly surprised to find out there will be more. I enjoyed reading about all the characters. Can’t wait for the next book.
Love this series. Once you get through the first book, which is not written well. I'm convinced it was written by someone other than this author??? Because all subsequent books have been great with a truly interesting story. Can't wait for the next book. Recommended
Wow.. Absolutely good great story.. Now I am so interested in this story.. But i would like to know what happens to Ruth & Logan.. Hopefull they get a happy ending as well !!
At first I thought this was going to be a really good book but when it started getting into “unusual” sex acts, I had to put the book down and stop reading it. It may befor some but it sure isn’t for me.
Never a dull moment! I kind of wish I would have waited until 8th book because I so hatred it to end. But end it did and at a good spot. Love this Series!! Don't Miss out!!!
