Amber's true nature has been revealed to the people of Olympus, and in spectacular fashion.
What will happen to her now? And what of Lilly and Jude, their fates still unknown.
Continue Amber's adventure as she falls deeper into the world of Olympus, and comes into contact with some of the most powerful Children of the Prime. To save those she loves, she might have no choice but to fulfil her own destiny. Even if that means forgetting everything she once believed in...
Well that was an interesting story and Amber's journey of self discovery does not stop there. I am still on the fence about this cult like society of schooled thought and cannot decide if it is all it is represented to be. The next book should be quite illuminating
She needs to learn and control her powers quickly now, and has to compete against a group of others with the same powers. Elian is forced to guide her, and Amber is faced with hugely conflicting beliefs and feelings about all she's been through and going through with this competition to become a chosen ! She starts to enjoy and crave the feeling of power she has, and wants to explore and travel to other places, so she finds herself wanting to actually become the chosen! Yet she still hates what these Olympians represent and the horrors they inflict on her people, so she is still very conflicted constantly. Her journey is just beginning, but if she doesn't win the position, what will she become ? She's very confused, yet yearning to learn and have her powers grow, to see what she can achieve, for herself, and her people back home and the whole of the Fringe.
In this second book of the series, Amber remains in the elevated city of Olympus. In addition to uncovering her previously-unknown gifts, we also meet a mysterious figure, the Overseer. Amber is now locked into a competition with high stakes, requiring her to learn more about her newly-discovered gifts. She also uncovers more about Olympus & its customs & beliefs. She faces a critical turning point: will she remain hostile & suspicious, or will she "drink the koolaid" & buy into the whole mystique of Olympus? The storyline is absorbing & moves quickly, easily holding the reader's interest. The characters are intriguing & compelling. Mr. Edge skilfully reveals details a few at a time, making the reader anticipate what might lurk around the next corner. This new series is exciting, & I think it will appeal to a broad range of readers. Highly recommended.
This book is the 2nd book in the Children of the Prime series and let me just tell you... if you liked the first book, you’ll LOVE this one! In this book we are on the journey with Amber as we find out things about her past that she didn’t know about. She will come to a crossroad where she struggles with her reasons for being where she is and just what path she wants to take. As the author seems to be so good at doing, we are left with a cliffhanger at the end but it’s not one of those ones that are super frustrating. It’s one that leaves you super excited for the next book to find out what happens next. I CANNOT WAIT for the next installment!! If you haven’t started this series, I HIGHLY recommend that you do! You won’t be disappointed! I’ve read every book T.C. Edge has published and there isn’t even one that hasn’t been AMAZING!
I have the omnibus edition of this series but just wanted to say that book two further develops both the plot and Amber's thoughts and feelings about her fate as a Fire-Blood.
There is the mystery and nothing is really certain, and the idea that scientifically-enhanced people should think of themselves as gods...hmm.
I am not sure which road Amber will follow - will her rebellious streak push her for the truth; what is the truth? Perhaps I am making more of the story than is there but, to me, nothing is as it seems and Amber has been seduced, the truth being masked. Or maybe, it is a straightforward fantasy tale?
Well-written though needs an edit regarding grammatical issues...still very enjoyable.
This book begins with the Daughter being taken to the capital city of the nation as the people that came to collect the tributes feel that her total belief in the Gods that rule the nation prove her Worthiness. The other daughter presses the son to go the rescue. He agrees and asks his friend to come with him to help out. So off they go to find the girl and the capital city. They are captured in their quest and due to the lack of belief in the nations leaders by the girl’s brother he is put on trial. As his punishment begins the special power that has been in buried in his mind comes to existence.
Wow, I can't believe it... this book was even better than the first one! So much more happened in this book, and we find out a lot more about Amber and her family's past. We also find out more about the people of Olympus, and the Prime. Finally, questions are answered! A great balance of emotions, memories, and action. Amber also gets to learn how to control her powers, which are epic, by the way! Overall, this is one of my top fav books by this author so far!
This series is really good and gets the wheels in your head turning! I was not expecting this outcome but I can see the author building on this outcome. Amber is turning out to be an amazing character. For some reason I can see her relationship with Krun growing into something more! Or maybe that's just because of the love hate relationship he seems to have with her!
I want to give this a higher rating, but the incredible amount of errors is distracting. It causes the reader to have to stop, back up, and sometimes read the sentence over and over to understand what the author was trying to say. It becomes very disruptive to the story line. Please fix the errors!
I'm so drawn in to this world. Watching Ambwr change and assimilate....oh man. I wanna shake her and tell her what I know like it'll do some good. My goodness, this all feels so real. Impressive. No real spoilers but the Prime reminds me of Zander and Brie....me thinks this may be important later. We shall see.
Book 2 moves faster than book 1. It's very interesting how the storyline changes a bit. I really enjoyed the environment and character development. The ending is a cliffhanger and makes reading the next book exciting.
Every entertaining, Amber's journey through the trials has been exhilarating and quite the experience. I am keen to find out what is happening with Jude, as well as the truth about Alberta.
