Holidays in Mountain Home #8

Unmistakably Yours: A Holidays in Mountain Home Romance, book eight

Rate this book
One prize. Two contestants. Three Miracles. Expanding Hank Murphy's grocery emporium into the adjacent storefront should be easy, as he and the landlord already shook hands. Yet his clueless neighbor, Miss Jane Vancoller, intends to enlarge her silly Tea Room into the not-so-vacant premises. The Tea Room is plenty large, but the grocery emporium must stockpile adequate winter supplies before winter's blizzards close off the high mountain valley. Negotiations should be simple, but the landlord delights in pitting Hank and Jane against one another, and foolishly involves the community--and the annual Harvest Celebration--in the business decision. The festive atmosphere tempts matchmakers to unite the disparate Tea Room and Grocery Emporium, along with incompatible Hank and Jane. Discovering a solution... Warding off misguided matchmakers... Uniting two hearts ravaged by the past... ... Will take a Thanksgiving miracle! . Unmistakably Yours: A Holidays In Mountain Home Romance #8 by Kristin Holt

August, 1887 Mountain Home, Colorado
All Miss Jane Vancoller wants is to enlarge her Tea Room in the empty store front next door, but Hank Murphy has plans of his own to expand his grocery emporium. Both want the same space, but only one will win. The landlord has his own ideas as to who should get the empty space and he involves the community and sets up a contest for the space. Matchmakers decide they need to help things along with Jane and Hank. The three young boys that wondered around town are adorable and full of mischief and often find themselves in a bit of trouble. I was surprised that they were allowed to roam around unattended. A cute, fun, heartwarming story that had me chuckling often.

~I won a copy of this book from the author/HeartWings Blog (no monetary gain were exchanged), this is my honest review~

One prize. Two contestants. Three Miracles

I appreciate how from the very start I was pulled into the world of Mountain Home, Colorado, 1887. That is, after all, one of the reasons I read historical novels. Strangely enough, though, I read before work, at lunchtime and a bit afterward, working on my computer in between, the thing that jarred me out of 1887 so rudely was the classic movie my husband chose for the evening.

There was considerable attention given to details of the period in a way that was both natural and insightful regarding the customs of the time. Emphasizing details we wouldn’t even notice today. An example was Jane chosing to wear gloves instead of using her muff – which was a sign to Hank that she wanted to be able to hold onto his arm or, gasp, hold his hand.

One of the contrasts from the time period that struck me was how “normal” it was for Hank to leave his young boys to mostly fend for themselves during the day when he was at the store. The older ones were expected to care for the younger ones, but still, the youngest was two! No one thought it strange, though Jane did at least pity them.

My emotions traveled the gamut. At one moment I was laughing out loud at the contests at the Harvest Festival and at the next my heart constricted with sadness for the pain and grief the characters were enduring.

What a blessing this awesome story was to read.

This wonderful Thanksgiving story and all that happens before Thanksgiving is even thought of in this story was written with great historical facts about many things in this time period and with awesome written characters I felt I was right in this story. It moved along in a well developed manner that you have no problem following the storyline at all.
I loved this story and it's many characters and on course developing romances, yes I said romances. This author really researched everything for this time period and that makes this a most outstanding story.
I am grateful this author writes so completely that it's hard to put this story down. I had to of course as a full length novel it is long. I couldn't wait to come back to whenever I could.
I recommend this wonderful story that blessed my heart and soul and as part of a set of books I would recommend each and everyone of the stories in this multi authored set that you can buy the books individually or as a set.

HAVE YOU READ? WESTERN BOOK REC

In "Unmistakably Yours" by Kristin Holt, grocer Hank Murphy plans to expand his business into the adjoining shopfront… until tearoom owner Jane Vancoller bids for the same premises. Between counteroffers and counter arguments, and with the whole of their small frontier town deeply invested in their relationship, Hank and Jane begin to learn to come to terms, in more ways than one. Light, sweet and with the cutest Western culture clash this side of "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" – and taking place in the leadup to Thanksgiving – "Unmistakably Yours" is the best of this recent 9-book series, but all are sweet confections for which to be thankful this holiday season.

I don't know who's courtship I enjoyed most Hank and Jane's or Oscar and Ina's. This was a great book filled with meddling neighbors, little boys who will be boys and find trouble with out trying. Read as Hank and Jane try to move past former relationships to a future together. Then there is Oscar who is haunted by his past and Ina who has suffered heartache. Ms Holt is one of my favorite authors and if you have never read one of her books you are in for a real treat. Share this book with family and friends. Hopefully you will want to read the whole series. I do.

I enjoyed reading this book of historical fiction. I didn't know if the 5 youngsters would straighten out or not. Especially after the wedding cake was destroyed 2 hours before it was to be at a shower.
I wondered if the 2 couples would work through all the unpleasant things of their pasts but they eventually did. Even though they each had thought they would never have a Happily Ever After.

Intense

Intense emotions in this excellent story about people who have suffered loss, then found their way to love and happiness once more. Excellent characters and an engaging plot. This story peals away the layers of individual human experiences to show what is often behind why some people act or react as they do.

I am thankful for this book

This is a very surprising book, since very few books are based around harvest and Thanksgiving. There is a good story line, strong characters and good grammar. Thank you for a wonderful book.

A fun, clean, sweet romance between Hank & Jane and we also get a side romance between Oscar & Ina. It's like getting 2 romance novels in one book. I appreciate also that this was a full length novel almost 400 pages.

Getting past the past

I enjoyed the characters in this story. They each were living from their pasts. Learn how they pressed on. I recommend it for lovers of sweet romance with a twist and turn.
