Tearing across the globe, a super-virus obliterates the world’s helpless population. Australia is no different, as cities and towns fall rapidly, the government is unable to prevent the uprising of a brutal enemy.

At a secret military facility in a remote location south-west of Sydney, one man and his small team of scientists fight the adversary at a microscopic level. But something goes horribly wrong.

With limited options, military command is forced to recall one of Australia’s highest-level Special Forces teams from the badlands of Helmand Province. Minus their leader, the men must overcome their differences as they face an enemy that will test everything they know about skill and survival in what will be their most deadly mission.

I live in Melbourne, Australia with my wife and three children. I grew up reading Stephen King, Richard Matheson, and Jean Auel, amongst others. I love hearing a good story, particulary with a fantastic element, but my bookcases are filled with an eclectic mix of authors. My writing is the first priority of the day before I head off to my full time job!

I am so happy that I got another excellent book from this author! His books are awesome and I hope there are more coming with Gibbs and his group. I also love his other books of you decide not to read this one.The previous series is about a group of kids that were on a camping trip and returned to world gone bad. You cannot go wrong with any of Mr. Baillie's books!

Outstanding addition to the 'Extinction Cycle' world created by Nicholas Sansbury Smith!

As Australian special forces are given a mission to retrieve a scientist and a possible cure, the upper echelons are hurrying to replace the loss of one of their leaders. Arriving at a secret compound is only another obstacle when the soldiers become aware of the virulent outbreak that has already occurred within the facility. Will the scientist still be alive? And could this vaccine be the cure? The soldiers will fight selflessly to ensure success of their mission....or are there other agendas at work?

A fast and non-stop novella that guarantees reading in a single sitting. Great action with vivid characters and heart wrenching consequences. Very well done!

Great story set in Australia. Very well done and a great addition to the Extinction series.

This was an excellent story that takes place in Australia with an Australian Spec Ops team conducting a retrieval mission. Entertaining with good characters and plenty of action. Well done. Great addition to the Extinction universe.

A COPY

The writer tried to change some from the Nicholas Sansbury series, but not enough. The mouth, lips, etc were identical to the Sansbury series.

The characters need a hefty dollops of personality. The story needs a clear path into the storyline, needs to be more clear and strong

This series is a must read. It is a bit different from most zombie apocalypse but has the action and story line to keep you coming back!

Another great story from Owen Baillie! Fans will not be disappointed and new readers should find this novella a great introduction to Baillie and his other novels.

I loved the pace of this book - it was fast and full of non-stop action. Which made it the kind of book that I can't put down. It's a novella, so for avid readers like myself it won't take you long to get through it. The characters are well fleshed out, their distinct personality traits are clear and you find yourself liking some and distrusting others. I have read the Extinction Cycle series by Nicholas Sansbury Smith and I think Owen's novella is in keeping with the spirit and story line of the series. I love that it adds to the overall "world" created in Extinction Cycle by giving you insight into how other countries handle the crisis, in this case Australia. Overall, this is a really enjoyable read.
