Lana Callahan, entertainment publicist extraordinaire and closet clumsy girl. Bring over 6 feet tall, she’s always felt very awkward around men. The more flustered she becomes, the more her inner klutz takes over. Therefore, she tends to shy away from men unless she’s working with them. When she finds herself face to face with her crush at the airport and on her flight, she’s finds herself wishing for more than a casual encounter but afraid he would never go for her because she is taller than him.
Mark Garrison has been a Marine his entire adulthood, but he’s ready for a new adventure. When he’s given the chance to interview for a personal security company in Montana, he takes leave to spend a few weeks getting to know the Brotherhood Protectors and the town he might find himself living in. When he literally runs into the gorgeous and sexy red head he’s had his eye on for two years he figures that a change of job and scenery is really just what he needs . . .especially if it involves Lana Callahan.
Mark wants it all . . . the job and the girl. Lana’s not quite sure of life in a quiet town, however, or of Mark’s real intentions. When the client Lana is working with finds himself in danger, Mark’s visit to check out a possible new job turns into a full fledged mission to keep both his new quiet and the woman he’s falling for safe, all while convincing Lana to give him and love a chance.
Catching Lana was a really cute crossover into Elle James’s Brotherhood Protectors world. I loved how awkward and clumsy Lana was. It made for some really funny moments as well as gave her a really human side. Mark is pure alpha, but, he’s not willing to force a relationship that Lana doesn’t want. He was fabulous at building up her self esteem and making her feel comfortable around him which I really liked about his character. While persistent, he wasn’t pushy with her.
I enjoyed the plot which had the couple wanting to be together and explore the possibility of a relationship, but not really knowing how that would work since they were both at a crossroads professionally and personally when opportunity strikes. There’s plenty of romance and some fun and steamy scenes as well as a fantastic bit of suspense with Lana being mistakenly caught in the cross hairs of her client’s trouble. It made a quick to read fast paced romantic suspense that I really enjoyed. 4 stars.
