This is the most useful instructional book I've ever encountered for learning to play a western drum kit. The exercises will train your limbs to operate independently so that you can play intuitively and improvisationally. The patterns that take you through this training are basic standards, so you will finish with an array of stylistic treatments as well as dexterity.
