Born on a small southeastern island in Alaska and raised in southern Oregon, Alexandria Bishop is a PNW girl at heart. By day, she goes to battle with a tiny dictator aka her toddler and by night, she can be found typing ALL the words of her contemporary romance novels accompanied by a glass of wine or two ;)
When she’s not in mommy or author mode, she can be found drinking copious amounts of cold brew coffee, bingeing her latest obsession on Netflix, or attending concerts of her favorite pop-punk bands.
Loving in the Light is a heartwarming tale that picks up right where Sinking in the Shadows left off taking us back into Tinley and Marek’s world where unease, uncertainty, and desperation hang heavily.
The writing is clear and precise. The characters are affable, supportive, and intriguing. And the engaging plot is a charming blend of friendship, drama, emotion, frustration, family, hope, love, parenthood, humour, and unconditional love.
Loving in the Light is an emotive, entertaining, satisfying finale to the Dating Trilogy. And even though it’s a little bittersweet to have to say goodbye to the characters we’ve come to know and love over these last three novels, I’ll keep my fingers crossed that we’ll get a chance to revisit with them once again in a future series.
Loving in the Light should not be read as standalone to be truly appreciated and should be read only after reading Dating in the Dark (Book #1) and Sinking in the Shadows (Book #2).
Thank you to InkSlingerPR and Alexandria Bishop for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.
FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH INKSLINGER PR. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!
When I was approached to read this trilogy, I knew nothing about the series or author. After reading the preceding books, as well as this final installment, I have to say that I don't think that this author's work is for me.
Once again, since this whole thing was a serial trilogy that wasn't well identified as such, the book lost it a full star off my rating, because I hate to be duped into reading something that I don't enjoy! Thankfully, everything was well wrapped up in this installment, but there were some issues.
There were a lot of times where I felt like I was reading a diary of events, rather than a narrative that immersed me into the story. The bad thing was, that parts of the book actually felt like an immersive story! While the ARC did notate that it needed to pass through another round of edits, I actually felt that it needed an entire rewrite, because it fluctuated so much, almost as if it was written by two separate authors!
The things that happened with Marek were very anti-climactic, but that was actually indictative of the entire story, because things just really felt anti-climactic to me the entire way through the book. While it was nice to see what happened to the characters, it felt like this story was dragged out, and just not worth my time overall.
While I am thankful for the opportunity to read this series, I think I will avoid the author's work in the future.
Here we are again at the end of a duet/trilogy and I find myself unable to write a review for Book 1 (Dating In the Dark) and Book 2 (Sinking in the Shadows) without pulling Book 3 into the discussion.
Marek and Tinley pulled me in from Book 1. I loved the concept of how they met along with the enemies to lovers aspect of the storyline. Book 1 kept me engaged and entertained to plow onto Book 2 because cliffhanger. (More on that in a minute)
Books 2 & 3 delivered a bit more drama into the story. Subplotlines had you wondering about what's up with the best friend. Luna was a perfect addition to keep me entertained. To be honest, the hero is missing from majority of storyline development between the last two books. The plot is focused on Tinley and her journey through the situations. For me, I want the relationship development along with all the hearts and flowers so I wished for more that and less of the subplotlines.
Cliffhangers: Okay yes, each book ends on one. Not dramatic where you are stuck. But now a decision, do I move on? Which I applaud the story development for not leaving readers feeling unfulfilled. Possibly I could be feeling this way as I was able to binge on the trilogy. But for those picking it up now, you are armed with the knowledge of a HEA without sleepless nights.
This author has delivered an entertaining story that my angsty followers will enjoy.
I wasn't a big fan of this book. I hated the pace and the weird way the story was told. I am used to stories that are told in the third person and this narrative just threw me off. I had forgotten that I wasn't a big fan of the series for this reason and I wanted to see what happened after the cliffhanger of the second book and in the end was disappointed. For one, at some point, I started thinking that Tinley would end up with another man and Marek would die because we spend a lot of time without Marek in this book and Tinley gets flirty with another man. We find out what's Marek's fate after half of the book has passed and that didn't make me happy and it's the reason I had a problem with the pace. We spend 60% of the book wondering where he is and what he is doing, only to have the next 40% to fix everything and end the story in a good way, which made everything seem rushed and I was not ok with that. If the trilogy was a duology, it might have worked better in my opinion. Most of the book was unnecessary to me and I would have liked a story where is mostly about the wedding preparations and working out the mechanics of having already a child in the family, having one on the way and the work problems Tinley seemed to face. After finishing the trilogy, I can say that I wouldn't recommend it because of this book.
Sweet, funny and entertaining story. You really need to read the 3 parts ;) I had some small remarks that spoiled the overall feeling for me, causing the only 3* rating instead of higher. eg
I really enjoyed this series! The entire concept was really intriguing. I loved seeing all of the characters come into themselves. I’m super curious to learn more about Anders and Giselle! Luna ended up being the cutest little girl ever! I adored her scenes!
There were several reasons why this book got 2 stars. A big one is that 1 story was broken down into 3 books. I really don’t like when authors do that. This is only part 1 of the story. All 3 could have EASILY been 1 book. I was looking for a short, quick read which I usually don’t do but this once that’s what I wanted. It just seems like a crappy way to sell more books. Also the writing felt really choppy. It didn’t flow. The sentences could be long winded. Here’s an example. I can’t really explain it I just know when I was reading it I would have to reread sentences to make sense of them, which is never a good thing.
“He never responded to the last text she sent him before she went to the hospital and she doesn’t exactly want to talk to him anyway other than in person with the news she has.”
So instead of doing 3 separate reviews I’m just putting all 3 into 1 bc I don’t want to waste more time doing individual reviews. ***SPOILERS BELOW*** Let’s start with dating in the dark. Her friend and sister signs her up for this. It’s a little weird but ok. You go and eat dinner while you have 4 speed dates. But it’s so dark she can’t even see the guys hand to shake it. HOW!???!!! I mean the waiters bring 4 dishes, if it’s so dark how can the waiters see the tables or where to put the food. Not to mention the men move from table to table in a room they are unfamiliar with.... just saying. Then the 3 most extreme men are her dates. Induce eye roll here. It was ridiculous. Of course she hits it off with date #4 who happens to be her boss at work.
So the story goes along and they start dating but keeping it a secret. It’s ok, nothing earth shattering but nothing too bad. Then Tinley (yes that’s her name) finds out Marek (what is with the names!) has a daughter he hasn’t told her about. That part I don’t get. He tells her he loves her but he doesn’t tell her he has a daughter bc he wasn’t sure where the relationship was going. Skipping past that he told her he was in love and engaged before to his best friend who died of cancer 4 years ago. His daughter looks 4 or 5. How in the hell did this woman not put 2 and 2 together? No instead she sulks and cries and worries about who the mom is. All while she’s pregnant. Yep you guessed it she’s pregnant and she doesn’t tell him for weeks because he kept a secret from her. Granted she has a right to be pissed about the secret but still.
Gotta be honest I don’t remember a whole bunch of details. I skipped A LOT and still felt bored. Her roommate Dakota is a little bit psycho too. She flies off the handle at Tinley for dating him then gets fired for a blog she has written in which she puts very detailed information about the customers she deals with. She blames Marek even though he didn’t do it. So she storms out, changed her phone # and basically abandons her friend. Real mature characters in this book let me tell you.
Onto the next book where last minute Marek flies to London for training. A natural disaster happens and he can’t be located or gotten a hold of so they are worried he’s dead. Tinley who barely knows Marek’s daughter Luna (it says she babysat her 4 times that month, that does not a relationship make). Tells everyone she will fight tooth and nail to keep Luna. What in the actual hell. Luna had grandparents that have been with her since birth. Just no. No. Of course he returns dead or the night. How he wasn’t able to find a phone in an airport is beyond me so by all means let’s show up unannounced at midnight and sneak into the house. He promptly proposes, her water breaks and it happiness all around.
I can’t believe I wasted my time with these books. I skipped so much I should have been a little confused or lost. Not at all. The story was slow, agonizingly written and just ridiculous.
Loving in the Light STRESSED ME OUT! It took a few paragraphs for me to FINALLY figure out what happened from the cliffhanger in Sinking in the Shadows. And once I found out what happened, I was still freaking out right along with Tinley!
So much happened in Loving in the Light that you will be gasping and grasping for the next morsel of information that everything will be fine and work out, but you will be sitting in suspense not know what will happen or how everything will play out!
I really enjoyed watching the growth and maturity of Tinley progress in Loving in the Light and I believe that any woman who has become a mom will understand the transition that she has gone through. Between the nesting and helping with Marek's daughter she really became a strong woman who I can see being a wonderful mom.
In the first couple of books, Tinley's best friend had become kind of shady, and we have finally figured out what was going on with her along Marek's sister and his best friend. Although we did get a conclusion for Marek and Tinley, we were set up for another story and now I feel like I have to sit and wait on another cliff, a much smaller one, but still! OMG! I can't wait to see what will happen in the spin off!
Wow. Reading this series was kind of a whirlwind. I liked the characters. Sometimes they made irrational decisions, got ticked off for no reason and flew off the handle for weird things. Just like messy normal people. And I like messy normal people.
I am sooo happy to have read this story. Its full of cuteness and humor. Also like the valuable lessons from each of the characters lives. Looking forward to reading Giselle's story. Thanks Alexandra!
I really wanted to like this series but there were several things that just made it too difficult to follow. This is a review of the three book series not just this book.
First, was it really necessary to divide the story into three books? It really should have been one book. It just feels like a ploy to get you to spend more money.
Second, there were several times throughout the book where it felt like I’d missed something important be it background knowledge of the characters or the details of actual events. I actually went back and reread parts because I was so confused. For example, what is Dakota’s deal - we know she went on a trip, we know there is a blog but nothing is ever explained. she loses her $@?! on Tinley for withholding import life changes but she’s doing the exact same thing. Second example, the whole Marek London disaster- I still don’t fully understand what happened there- she finally explains there was some sort of natural disaster (after every random person comes back to see if she is ok) but there are no supporting details to explain the end of the world drama all the characters are making it out to be. Are we expected to believe a rainstorm suddenly floods and entire city but with zero explanation on how that affects Marek? Was the entire city of London destroyed? Because that’s what the drama level of the people with Tinley supports but there is never an explanation of what actually is happening to him.
Many times it felt like I was reading the author’s story outline instead of a well developed continuous novel.
I gave it three stars because the first book was cute but the second and third books felt like filler to sell more books. Overall, I probably won’t read this author again, mostly because I don’t want to have to purchase another three books for one story.

The third and final installment in this fun and endearing rom-com series. I truly have enjoyed getting to know Tinley and Marek and seeing Tinley mature into an adult and mother. While I was admittedly a bit confused at the beginning of the book and it took me several pages to piece together what was happening with Marek, that is really my only complaint. I just wish that part had been spelled out a bit so it was clear for the reader. Otherwise, this book was full of little giggles and laughs-thanks in large part to not just Tinley, but adorable little Luna and big sister Tara as well as heart dropping moments when you think the worst may be coming. I was oh so happy to see where Dakota and Tinley's relationship was heading in the future. While this installment had less of the call center antics than the rest, it still provided the level hilarity that I had hoped to see continue. I love that I felt the entire range of emotions while reading this book and the entire series. I adored the fact that the author gave us a full and complete ending that left me happy and satisfied, but yet eager to explore a new book about Giselle and Anders. I hope we get peaks at Tinley, Marek, and all the rest in the Giselle and Anders story so we can continue to see where the future leads them all.
In the conclusion of Merek & Tinley’s story, these three books should have been just one. I read the first book via Kindle free. The remaining two I found through my library Hoopla, thank goodness. Wanted to give this author a shot. And I’m glad I did. While I can say, in the words of this author in one of the books, “But let’s just say that’s precious time out of my life I will never get back. Even though the main guy was stupid hot.” I don’t WANT to view it as a waste but it’s there. This story had such great potential. I enjoyed EVERY aspect, except for the lack of character and plot development. Given more time and painstakingly added effort, combined into one book, this had real potential. Instead, each book ends with not a cliff hanger to be continued but rather an unended paragraph. Book two and three were ridiculously short and seemed rushed. I never felt really engaged with the character not the plot all together. It felt lacking. I’d love to see this author continue to develop their writing!
It is a sweet story. However I feel the author could have focused more on the timeline as in explaining the length of time. You don't know even from when she finds out she is preggers to when she tells him to when she gives birth how far along she is, it seems like she's only pregnant for like two months!! Some focus on details of like " a month later" two months Later" might help this story better.
Also, in the first book, why doesn't Tinley press Marek about Giselle? Ummm I kinda would want to know if the guy I am interested in has a girlfriend or not, and Why doesn't Marek Explain??? Not something that would actually happen in real life unless Tinley doesn't care, and if so, why does getting Jealous of Giselle really bother her?
Allot of stuff bother me about this book, but I do like it. I just have to suspend my knowledge of reality and common sense. I just think it could have been executed a bit better. Didn't someone read the thing before publishing? Point out some major gaps?

This 3 book series probably could have put into one book so I’m going to review this as one story. The story itself kind of started weak but actually ended really well. The character building was also really good from the first book to the last. This is a story about Tinley who is almost 30, has bad self-esteem, an entry-level position, and is overweight. Tinley ends up dating the hunk at work, even though she hates. Marek has a past he hides but seems like a decent guy despite the comments made about him at the beginning of the story.
The first two books end with cliffhangers so be prepared to download all three books. This book is written in a combination of third person and first person. That takes a little getting use to but the author does a good job with dialogue which helps out.
I liked the story and found myself liking the characters more the further I read. Enjoy!
The last part to this particular trilogy. It was completely gut wrenching. It picks up right at the end of the last book so needless to say, AB spent this entire book dragging out the truth about what happened to Marek. So we're on the edge of our seats with tears every chapter. The good thing about this is that we see a new love develop, that of a sub to be mommy and her boyfriend's daughter. Watching Tinley build her relationship with Luna was so beautiful. Luna was basically the bridge between Tinley, Dakota and Marek's sister. AB did a really great job showing how strong women are and how they rally around each other. Good end to the story. Not the best but it was good.
just finished the book 3 last night ...started book 4 at the very end. got sleepy. yawn. love finding a great series. glad to see that book 4 and 5 are connected. i saw a book 6 ...will be curious who's book that will be. laters. i will say i don't like Dakota ...she is so rude. you gotta read the trilogy but i am curious why 3 books? it could have been 2. now on book 4 ...and i now realize who it will be about. sister Giselle. i don't mean to sound weird or rude but Giselle is kind of in another world an "airhead"??! but i really enjoy the family situation. how they make it work out. love the humor ... love it all. must read series. fun. hilarious at times.
Loving in the Light seriously stressed me out hardcore! After Sinking in the Shadows left me hanging I couldn’t wait to see what the heck happened! After the first paragraph I knew I wasn’t going to put it down until I knew what the heck happened and if it was going to be a good ending and let just say I didn’t leave my room until I finished the book! If you haven’t started reading the books yet and you looking at all the reviews on each book before you decided if you want to start reading them I’ll tell you this STOP READING THE REVIEWS AND GO 1-CLICK THESE BOOKS NOW!!!!!
I'll be honest. I hate cliffhangers. This series was no exception. Thankfully all the books are already out, so crisis avoided, but I still hate them. LOL This story was wonderful. Tinley never expects to find her " happily ever after", but after her sister and BFF sign her up for " dating in the dark", she meets her person. Then the ultimate terror happens and life gives a pretty big lesson. LIFE IS TOO SHORT AND TOMORROW IS NEVER PROMISED. Tinley and Merick learn the hard way to not take life for granted and to "seize the day".
Although truth be told, I don’t know what to think on how they resolved the ultimate conflict from the previous book, but I am willing to overlook it because truly the heroine did some maturing and growing up. With the help of those around her, of course. So what’s not to love about reading a character who not only grew up but also pursued what she loved doing the most? It feels like all’s well with the world, if you know what I mean?
I will continue soon with Giselle’s story. I also wish we could see more of Tinley and Marek in her story!
Exciting and unpredictable conclusion to this delightful series. Alexandria Bishop takes you on an emotional roller coaster ride and brings you to a satisfying end. You must read this series, in order to truly appreciate the crazy course Marek and Tinley must traverse to get to their future all because of a love of sweets. Now what I really want is the recipe for Peach Bellini cupcakes and Unicorn cupcakes.

This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster. The last book made my heart stop, trying to figure out what was going to happen next. With each page I read of this story, I never could quite figure it out, but any previous questions I had were answered. I liked that Tinley grew up and found her strength in doing the things that she was scared of, especially when there werected others that needed her most. I also loved that she had her support team to lean on.
I received an ARC of this book for an honest review. This is the final installment in a trilogy. This was a perfect ending to what has been a really good trilogy. Tinley and Marek have finally found their HEA. I really liked how Tinley grew and changed with each new experience, and how she took charge when things got tough. I also really liked how her personality influenced Marek and Luna as well. This was the perfect way to cap off this fascinating trilogy.

This picks up from the big cliff hanger we were left with at the end of Sinking in the Shadows. I much preferred Tinley's more mature personality in this book - but that growth was all part of the story. Being British, I felt the disaster was an unlikely occurrence, and bugged me a little, but this is a fictional story. I enjoyed this overall, and found it hard to put down. I'm now interested in Giselle's story.
WHAT WAS I THINKING..... If I didn't like first two books of the series there is no way I would have liked this one. I thought nothing would change my opinion, but I was wrong it was worse than first two. Needless suspence, useless characters ( like his sister) and that kid Luna for half of the book and fully in the previous one was just Brat. How our lead found her to be cute is beyond me.
This is part 3 of the series. The first 2 were okay, albeit a bit predictable.
Unfortunately I didn’t really gel with the 3rd one. The story is written in 3rd person present tense, which feels unnatural and awkward. Plus, it is very predictable and cliche in the 3rd book. I also didn’t really care for the intimate scènes and don’t feel they add much to the book (I ended up skipping them).
I voluntarily review an ARC. This is the third book of the Dating series, the books should be read in order. I really like the story, there are some interesting turns and Tinley is finally grown up and takes her life in her own hands. Luna is especially cute. I liked the series and will definitely read any book about these families that will be written.
