Rate this book
The English Heritage, Third Edition, is a compact yet complete introduction to British history. This comprehensive text reflects the authors' belief that a concise and accessible analysis best serves both the student and instructor. With new material on the Revolutionary Age, the Age of Empire, the end of "Thatcherism," and the Labour landslide of Tony Blair, revisions throughout reflect the latest scholarship, giving more attention to women and social history. Volume One covers the earliest Britons to 1714, Volume Two covers 1689 to the Present. A combined two-volume set is available shrinkwrapped together for a special, discounted price!

2nd edition (1988). Very obviously a textbook written in 1978 and lightly revised a decade later. Heavy focus on political/diplomatic - almost exclusively until the Victorian period, and very little social/cultural even after that.
