Aun #2

Man from the North

Willing to give up everything to protect the ones he loves, a fearsome warrior confronts his past and gets more than he bargained for.
With blood on his hands, and the need to make things right, Dulnear must return to his homeland of Tuas-arum to account for his sins. Losing it all, he discovers that old grudges die hard and that his enemies will be satisfied with nothing less than his total annihilation. Accompanied by a runaway slave, he must evade her pursuers, fight off bloodthirsty mercenaries, and find a way to take the target of revenge off of his back. It's an against all odds struggle in this powerful tale of rage and redemption.

A superb non-magic fantasy

A true hero, a lovely, seemingly damaged women, a courageous son, and a whimsical daughter on a major adventure. It’s good stuff, we’ll-written, and entertaining.

You’ll enjoy this one.

In this sequel, we follow Dulnear as he journeys to his former home to accept retribution for actions made in Son of the Age. Throughout the book the reader watches Dulnear evolve from a man confronting his past, struggling with his understanding of humanity, to ultimately discover that the journey he started as an attempt to make atonement, will forever change his life. The second novel by Lee Bezotte is a wonder. The introduction of the character Faymia is exciting. She is a dynamic character who challenges Dulnear; often helping him develop into the person he has the potential to be. If the next book in the series is as astonishing as the first two have been, then I anticipate thrilling things to come.

This was the sequel to Son of Aun. The man from the North (I think his name is Dulneath) wanted a life of peace, yet an act of violence to save himself haunts his footsteps. Dulneath wants to make right the wrong he did and find restitution from the family of the man he killed. On his journey home he meets a slave woman and she follows him, and he saves her life, and they end up on the journey together. His plans of restitution don't go as he had hoped they would though.

There are some very humorous parts with Maren - I love this little girl! There are also some very poignant moments too.

This is a clean read.
