After eight struggling years, Sierra is on the cusp of making it big in the movie industry. Her first big offer will shoot her straight into stardom, but it isn't the acting role she was expecting.

A-list movie star, Jackson needs to do damage control ASAP. Paparazzi has a blurry photo of him kissing the man he has been seeing in secret. He fears the loss of his career if the world finds out he is gay and he's not ready to give up acting.

Jackson and his agent make an offer to Sierra she can't refuse. If she will pose as his girlfriend for the next eight months, not only will it help quell the gossip around his photo, but also make her a household name.

Sierra hates that Jackson feels the need to hide his true self. Not only will his offer help her financially and jump start her career, she also genuinely wants to help Jackson. What she wasn't expecting was to lose her heart to Austin, the head of security.

I'm a big fan of Christina Ross. Her heroines are always women I can respect and admire. Her Hero's never fail to be true gentlemen and treat the women in their life with respect. Add in some crazy chemistry and I always look forward to the next book by this author. I loved it and can't wait for the next in the series!

“Faking It”, by Christina Ross, is the beginning of her “Making It” series. Faking It, centers around the entertainment industry. We get to see Sierra who has worked really hard the past 8 years and its about to pay off for her. She has an opportunity to work with one of the hottest leading men in Hollywood, but there is a catch. She will be paid for agreeing to pretend to be Jackson Cruise, one of Hollywoods best action stars, girlfriend for eight months to calm down the speculation about his sexual orientation. This is not the dream job that Sierra had thought she was going to be offered…At this meeting where she is being offered this “job”, Sierra meets the head of Jackson’s security team, Austin Black, and she is completely taken by him. Whats a girl to do? Will she take this job? Can Sierra and Austin have a relationship if she is the pretend girlfriend to the hottest action star out there? Only way to find out is to read this exciting story.

“Faking It”, by Christina Ross, is the beginning of her “Making It” series. The story does not end on a cliffhanger, it is complete and very different than her other books. Faking It, centers around the entertainment industry and as with previous stories by Christina, you will learn a lot about a subject most of us can only guess about. I am a fact checker, and I love how much of what Christina writes about is real, and I can see it for myself just by Googling it.

The book starts out being centered around an up and coming actress, Sienna Jones, waking up to the news that she has an opportunity to work with one of the hottest leading men in Hollywood, but there is a catch. In a closed door meeting Sienna meets Jackson Cruise, one of Hollywoods best action stars. Jackson and his agent have a very lucrative deal for Sienna. She will be paid for agreeing to pretend to be Jackson’s girlfriend for eight months to calm down the speculation about his sexual orientation. At this same meeting, Sienna meets the head of Jackson’s security team, Austin Black, and she is completely taken by him. Can Sienna pretend with Jackson as she becomes enchanted with Austin? You will have to read the book to find out for yourself. Just to add fun to the story, is the name of the movie Jackson is working on at the moment. Readers of Christina’s other books with get a total charge out of that.

There are current events that are a major part of the story line mixed in that helps make you feel like this is all real and happening now and not just a story from Christina’s imagination which adds to the lushness of the experience. The story is rich with detail, emotional as all get out about how hard it is for Jackson to deal with his sexual orientation and how it may effect his career, his life and happiness and full of sexy encounters between Sienna and Austin.

Whether you enjoy stories about the entertainment industry, real events, snappy dialog or sexy love stories, you will totally enjoy this book. I know I did. I had a very hard time putting it down. I can not wait for the next two books in the series, Making It and Killing It.

I am excited to have received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

OMG ...... I was devastated the Annihilate me series had finished and wondered what was going to happen next ... Well Christina did not let me down at all...... How could I even doubt you knowing how much I love your books and your imagination knows no bounds .. The book is based around Sienna, a new actress on the rise after awards for a recent film, the world becoming her oyster. Then she signs a contract helping out Jackson one of Hollywood's biggest A-Lister's who was recently in the spot light not for his acting skills but because he was caught kissing another man. Sienna wants to help him and the contract also sets her up financially .... but she didn't expect to fall in love with Jackson's bodyguard Austin .... both men seriously hot hot hot!! Things are complicated and Sienna feels for Jackson's plight and becomes good friends with him. Basically read this book because if you don't your seriously missing out ... loved it from start to finish and also like the fact that her previous work (Annihilate me/Unleash Me) series is mentioned making it even better ..... Shame Sienna doesn't become friends with Blackwell because I miss that woman and her wittiness n her love of ice!! Or even Bernie stylist to the stars .... omg the options are sooo out there .... can wait for the next book!!! eeekk excited for this series!!!

I received this book as an ARC for an honest review. Christina is an amazing author, she takes her characters and builds them into relatable people. This book was amazing, I could not put it down. I loved the new story line and new characters in this book! The storyline is completely believable even in today's world. You will not go wrong staying with Christina on this journey into a new series. I loved that she makes mention of the previous series to keep us going, will Jennifer and Alex make an appearance in future books? I know I'm excited to find out and can't wait for the next book in this series!

DNF at 45%. Have you ever walked into a room, into a conversation with people who are speaking another language and keep talking to you like you know what’s going on? Yeah, that’s what starting this book was like. It was rough from the first like until I gave up on trying to enjoy it. The idea is there, but the execution was poor. A main character has to have character. And a personality. And emotion. Sienna was a robot, as bland as dirt and lived up to the typical “bimbo” personality of models. The author tried to make her sweet and but fell short. There was nothing in her character that made her interesting. She was boring, had no hobbies or interests and just seemed to “exist.” And introducing a rando “best friend” at 27% seems like a last minute edit to give her some depth. I really wanted to love it, I love the idea and appreciate the authors imagination, but it wasn’t there.

Such an easy read. If you're looking for an entertaining read, this is great. The concept of celebrities faking relationships to conceal their true ones is interesting and extremely real. It makes you wonder how much is a show and how much is vulnerably real. I felt for Jackson. How sad it is to not be able to be with the person you want to be with, with all the criticism, judgment and hate from family, peers, paparazzi and fans. Though I would have enjoyed some sort of twist and turn (the story was sort of predictable) I enjoyed reading Jackson and Sienna's fake little story as well as the sizzling back story of Sienna and her true love interest.

I LOVE the Annihilate Me Series, one of my favorites and hoped that I would feel the same with this book. Well, I'm here to tell you that I absolutely hands down LOVED this book so much!!! As soon as I started to read I was so captivated by the story and the characters I couldn't put it down, I refused to put it down until I read those two little words that we all hate when all we want is more! All I can say is that you will without a doubt fall in love with Jackson, Sienna and Austin whole heartedly. This hot as hell sexy read is a one-click must and now a favorite read for 2017!

Faking It

Awesome Story, had to purchase, but also rec'd an ARC to read ahead! A story, with real life issues, always touches the heart. Never can go wrong when you help out a friend, Jackson, now Sienna has found her feelings are torn as she has feelings for another, Austin❤️. What can, will they all do? Risk it all, or hope it all works out in the end! Thanks for allowing me to review the ARC, but had to purchase to keep, loved it😍

What can I say I was lucky to get an ARC of this book and wow it was amazing. The story was different from the annihilate series which had me hooked. However still had me reading avidly like some book fever. The story was well written and flowed with ease had me laughing and the main characters Sienna and Austin were hot with Jackson smouldering on the side lines .. highly recommend and can not wait for the next in the series .. well done Christina 😊

This is my first experience reading this author's work and I was pleasantly surprised. This was a nice standalone and a sweet and steamy romance. Although I'm not a fan of "celebrity" romances and references to well-known celebrities, this one was well done and I would recommend it if you like that type of book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC for NetGalley.

I've never read a Christina Ross book before, so this was a new author for me. I read the blurb and thought it was going to be a really great read and one I wanted to give a chance. Unfortunately, I wasn't that impressed by this book and was honestly bored throughout most of it. It didn't really get good until about the 75% mark. Up until that point, it was filled with inner dialogue by Sienna that seemed to repeat itself ('I like Austin, but I've been in love and hurt in the past, so does he really love me and will he really wait 8 months for me like he says he will? But wait, I can't act on my feelings because I'm under contract and money is more important to me right now.' - rinse and repeat).

I'm also not big on fashion or Hollywood, so the never-ending details about someone's outfit or who was in what new movie or being featured in gossip rags was just unnecessary filler, in my opinion. But given the author's background, I can see why her passion would be featured in the book and I respect that, it just wasn't for me. Most authors also don't actually mention stars by name though, so I found it odd that the author did.

Now on to the actual storyline. Jackson is a big action star and is gay, but is closeted. Until he gets caught kissing a guy so now he has to try and combat the fallout by faking a relationship with the up-and-coming actress Sierra. Sierra agrees, but then falls in love with Jackson's bodyguard, Austin, but can't do anything about it since he's under contract to not see anyone else but Jackson during those 8 months (because somehow being in the same closeted situation 8 months later is going to change things for Jackson?....Yeah, wasn't buying that.).

It did drag on for a very long time, but I liked the moral of the story in the end - love is more important than any amount of money you make since money doesn't buy you true love, a family and friends or real loyalty. I liked that Jackson realized that in the end, and in turn, it freed Sierra up to be with her new love, Austin. I also respected Sierra for being a true friend to Jackson and speaking the truth about why he should come out. It was ultimately his decision, but Sierra spoke to him in a way that was caring, loving and real, just what he needed to have some sense knocked into him. And in turn, that speech made her realize how much Austin meant to her and how she wasn't willing to give him up - she was pretty shallow and all about the money up until that point it seemed.

Now, I didn't get the whole 'insta-love' for Austin and Sierra. That's basically what it was since they had only known each other 4 days before they were pretty much confessing their love. I mean they didn't even really know one another at that point since they had to keep their relationship a secret and couldn't even really see one another without risking a breach of contract issue. So I didn't connect with them that way and didn't find it believable.

The ending was sweet though - Austin was a tough guy, but he had such a soft interior that I loved. I wish we had gotten more about what Jackson was up to now and how he was faring. That was a bit disappointing since it played such a huge part in this book and why Sierra was even in the position she was to begin with. Even though I liked the ending and the turning point for both Jackson and Sierra, I don't think it made up for the lack of substance for the rest of the book. I'll probably give the author another chance, but I'm not sure I'll read any other future books in this series.

I was given a free ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Book 1 in 3 part series, but is a stand alone with a HEA
This was a fun, light read. I was stuck in a series that really didn’t appeal to me. I just finished reading book 3 of 8 & wanting to continue, but knew I shouldn’t because well... it just wasn’t my thing. 🤷🏼‍♀️ so I’m happy I had an excuse to read something else.
First chapter flowed well & got me hooked.
I’ve read a few “fake relationship” books before. I liked that this one the heroine was so relaxed & compassionate about going into it. It was refreshing.
However, about midway it dragged. Way too much inner dialogue. Pages & pages explaining the same thing over and over again, just worded differently.
One thing really irked me though. Why does Sienna put “elixirs” on her face before her shower? That makes no sense. Besides shampoo & conditioner dripping down, the hot water will just open her pores again. Won’t the water from the shower wash off her serums and moisturizer? Basic skincare 101: wash face after shower. First time it was mentioned I thought it was a mistake. But it happened twice.
The ending was nice, but I would have liked to have read a bit more interaction between Sienna & Jackson. Their friendship was really built up and although we did get a HEA, I wanted more from those two.

"Faking It" I hate to say didn't grab my attention like i thought it would. The concept was ok but the execution lacked. The story dragged with flat and excessive dialogue which led to skipping pages and sometimes sorry to say, whole chapters where nothing actually eventful took place.

This was a "coming out" of sorts story which would probably appeal to readers gravitating to the LGBTQ genres, although it did also have a side m/f romance.

Jackson is seen kissing another man, so Sienna is brought in to play the fake girlfriend so his already developed career isnt ruined. If they can last 8mths convincing the public he is "straight" she will get 10 million dollars...

From the start it was slightly cheesy... The way things were portrayed just werent really believable?
Jackson is NOT new to the industry, his career is established and has built his fan base, so who cares if he is gay? In this day and age i dont think the world of celebrities/fans/general public gives a shit? Whilst they were trying to prove their love to the world the one's they actually wanted watched from the sidelines.

This book would probably appeal more to the younger reader or someone after something light and easy. I prefer my books with a little more depth.

Faking It is the first book I've read by Christina Ross. It's the first in a series and it's the story of Sienna Jones, Jackson Cruise and Austin Black...an up and coming actress, a super successful mega movie star, and his bodyguard. The description of this story appealed to me, but the writing failed to live up to my expectations.
I had a hard time with it, mostly because I couldn't relate to the characters. I knew it would be outside the realm of what normal life is for me..... I don't get to live out a romance with my celebrity crush or wear $12,000 gowns! However, even putting myself in fantasy life land, I had a difficult time liking the characters.
I forced myself to finish the book, but honestly the epilogue was the only part that gave me a warm, fuzzy feeling about this romance.

I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review

Sienna has gone many years struggling to make it in the acting industry when her recent movie was a hit at cannes and sparks the attention for her a job that will change her life in my ways.
Jackson cruise is an action movie star, adored by millions of ladies worldwide but he has a secret that he struggles with on the daily, he's gay. With Jackson being caught kissing a man to keep his career he believes he needs to stay in the closet and in doing so he needs a distraction, enter said distraction.
Sienna is paid to enter a fake relationship with Jackson in order to keep his secret but when his handsome bodyguard Austin catches her eye things begin to become difficult for Sienna.

Their are many things I enjoyed and loved about this book, the diversity and the important topics was one of them. In today's society I feel its important to discuss topics that may not have gotten as much light before. It dives into sexual assault also so I'd say if that's triggering I'd suggest you read with caution although I believe it's handled and written correctly. I enjoyed seeing an insight into the movie industry and paparazzi, I found it interesting. I loved harper and Julia and also mini they were funny enjoyable characters with great one liners that had me laughing. As for the only part that annoyed me, at the beginning it was annoying how Austin continued to push Sienna even though he knew she had so much at stake, yes he wasn't aware of the full extent but I still felt it was rather annoying.

Over all I highly enjoyed this book. The writing style was fast pasted and I read this book in two days, it's safe to say I will be reading more by this author in the future.

I first have to say that I absolutely love Christina Ross's books and I am so happy to report that Faking It didn't disappoint in the slightest. In fact it may be my new favorite Christina Ross book.

Sienna is an up and coming actress winning accolades for her work on her first movie. Jackson is the #1 action star how has a dark secret that he needs to keep hidden and he needs Sienna's help doing just that. The situation is perfect for both of them - Sienna's media exposure is elevated while Jackson works to keep the media off of him and his sexuality. They just need to pretend to be involved for 8 short months - that is until Sienna meets Jackson's bodyguard Austin. The chemistry between Sienna and Austin is undeniable but they cant act on it without risking everything.

I enjoyed the writing style in Faking It - that includes the dialog between the characters along with the exposition throughout the story and some great humor. Told completely from Sienna's POV we get her unique view point as the story unfolds and I really enjoyed that aspect. Ms Ross's heroine is strong willed, caring and loyal everything you want your heroine to be. We also get to meet Sienna's best friend who just happens to be the main character for the next book in the Making It series and I for one cant wait to spend more time with her. Love how the story wraps up for everyone (including Jackson); everyone gets there happy ending.

I highly recommend Faking It - its one I would want to read curled up by the fire with a great glass of wine.

Sienna is an up and coming superstar, but what will propel her to stardom status? Being the fake girlfriend for a superstar actor! Jackson was caught on camera kissing his boyfriend, and now is in need of distraction to save his career. Sienna takes the role of Jackson's girlfriend for 8 months, but gets more than just the dream of being his girlfriend. Little does she realize what it takes to be a star. With her privacy invaded and a chance at love with Austin, Jackson's bodyguard, she has gotten much more than she bargained for. Will she be able to survive the contract to find her financial freedom? Is it worth losing the love of her life and her privacy? What will happen to Jackson? Ross creates characters that are impossible not to love. Austin is a big teddy bear, one you want to hug, but when in guard mode is deadly. Sienna is a woman who has a good head on her shoulders, is a great friend but is in over her head. Jackson is just confused. Can you be a hot, gay male actor? So much is going on, all so well woven together that you don't realize where the time goes as you listen. Between the great conversations, the good friends, the crazy agents and the paparazzi, it flies by and you had 8 hours of complete entertainment.

Amanda Stribling brings it all to life is a fantastic narration. I love her voices, all distinct and easy to follow. She is wonderful to listen to and finds her voices that perfectly fit in each element of the story. I really enjoyed this listen!

This was a beautiful story about two people who fall in love with stipulations attached. Can you imagine?? Really imagine falling in love with some who loves you back, but you can't have. This story was brilliantly written with the exact amount of suspense and love without having the word "thriller" attached. And we all know the types of books CR can dish out. You never know what you are going to get.

So many things you can throw in a story, and she got them all I think. Sienna meets Jackson and forms a special bond, all the while falling for the one she just can't have. I truly couldn't put this book down, and anxiously awaited the next word, page and chapter. It's not your typical "let's pretend and sign a contract" books. Promise. It's much more. AND there are special things thrown in to annihilate you !!!! It's so great. I voluntarily reviewed this book sent to me by the author. I have read every single one of her books and will read everything she writes. This book is no exception. Phenomenal.

(audiobook) Who doesn’t love a steamy romance between a movie star and her bodyguard? It could have been better, but I liked it well enough.

I hardly felt the love though. Lust and desire, definitely. But Sienna had more chemistry with her fake boyfriend–who’s gay–than with Austin. There should have been more scenes of Sienna and Austin interacting, but they barely talked.

I enjoyed the subplot of Jackson dealing with his sexuality and the consequences for his career. It was kind of spot on, and the conclusion made my heart flutter.

Narration was good, although it felt like the guys were always grinning when they spoke.

Quickie

- Series: Making it #1 (can be read as a standalone)
- Hashtags: #celebrity romance #forbidden romance #friends to lovers #movie star #bodyguard
- Triggers: some mild sexual assault
- Main couple: Sienna Jones & Austin Black
- Hotness: 3/5
- Romance: 3/5
- + loved that Austin was the first to admit his feelings
- – but I didn’t see the love, I only saw lust

Faking is the first book in a three book series that focuses on the entertainment industry by Christine Ross, but can be read as a stand alone. The story features Sienna Jones, an up and coming actress/ model and Jackson Cruise a mega star actor. Jackson is gay and needs Sienna to be his fake girlfriend. Sienna agrees, but becomes enthralled by Austin, Jackson’s bodyguard.

Both Jackson and Sienna deal with the pain of stardom and not being able to love whom they wish. We see the dark side of fame, which isn’t often portrayed.

Faking It was very different than Ms. Ross’s other books and I didn’t want to put it down.

I loved the message that one should be who they were born to be and love whom they choose.

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I think Austin Black may have moved into a tie with Alex Wenn as my favorite book boyfriend. He's strong, virile, romantic and sexy. Sienna Jones is beautiful, talented, caring and loyal. Together they practically combust on the page. Add in the poignancy of Jackson Cruise struggling with who he really is and how he wants to love, the insatiable need of the public of all things celebrity and the paparazzi/press's infringement on an individual's right to privacy and you have one terrific romance.

I loved the tie-in with the Annihilate series and Alex and Jennifer Wenn. Christina Ross has proven once again that she is a truly talented author who crafts her stories for the ultimate reading experience. I am a huge fan!

I have to say I love almost everything Christina Ross writes and this was no exception. It was such a good story. It had a good storyline and moved quickly along. Sierra was a model that was just breaking into acting and she had also won an award for her first movie "Lion". Jackson Cruise was a hot actor that was hiding behind his sexual orientation. The agents for these two drew up a contract to pretend that they were a couple in love. What they didn't count on was Sierra being strongly attracted to Jackson's security guard. The sparks between them were outrageous. I loved how worried Jackson was when the paps got too intrusive. Sierra really helped Jackson with his issues and life.
I did get this book from NetGalley for an honest review. I highly recommend this book.

Faking It is the first book in a new series by Christina Ross. It’s somewhat different, yet for me, it’s more compelling.

Making It series centred around entertainment world. I don’t usually like books around this theme, but as this was from Christina Ross, I gave it a try. And I she didn’t disappoint. The main characters were those we often see as larger-than-life people. Here, Ms. Ross pictured them as humans, with their faults, feelings, and vulnerabilities. The theme of sexuality also dear to me, and I simply loved how Ms. Ross brought it in this book.

I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.

I was asked to read this as an ARC. Without any spoilers, ( I do not like spoilers on reviews) I can say once again Ms. Ross did not let her readers down. Jackson and Sienna characters were very much true to life, and you felt the agony they were both in because of Jackson's situation. However, the story line went from wow, what a hot couple.....to being about their life and lifestyle, and a very good message for our society. I highly recommend this book as I have highly recommended ALL of Ms. Ross books. If you have not had a chance to read Ms. Ross's books, you are missing out in life! Start with Annihilate Me....and go from there!!

Mega action movie star Jackson Cruise is Gay. In order to protect his future as a he-man superstar, he needs a fake girlfriend fast. Up and coming actress Sienna Jones has auditioned for the role and has won the part as Jackson's enamored girlfriend. The only fly in the ointment is that is Sienna who just signed an exclusivity contract with Jackson is very very attracted to his bodyguard Austin Black. So, this is a bit of a different read. Usually, when there is a "fake" romance, it's the characters in that fake romance that eventually get together. This is not the case. This is about a celebrity (Jackson) that's trying to not "come out of the closet" and damage his image. He hires an upcoming actress (Sienna) to fulfill the "girlfriend" part so he can change the public's perception of him. You get a romance between Jackson's bodyguard and Sienna which is hot and fast. I liked the book and you do get a HEA and it's also a standalone. It's loosely tied in with the Annhilate series. I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
