About the author

I'm the author of seventy-something novels, including romance, women's fiction and mystery. When We Were Sisters debuted in June 2016, a stand alone novel about two foster sisters traveling back into their past together. I loved writing it and love the cover my publisher chose.

I'm also excited about my recent series, Goddesses Anonymous, which started with One Mountain Away and was followed by Somewhere Between Luck and Trust. The third book in the series, A River Too Wide, came out in July 2014. The Color of Light debuted in August 2015. Will there be more? We'll see.

I'm also putting up my newly edited romance backlist and love re-reading and updating them a bit.

Last year my husband and I moved from Virginia, to Osprey, Florida, the state where both of us were raised, met, and married. In the summer we live in Chautauqua, New York. I'm a quilter, knitter, kayaker, and the mother of four children, whom I regard as my greatest creative endeavors. And now there are four wonderful grandchildren to spoil.

This brings the series to an end with the tale of Jody and her mother who are on the run. First off hats off to the heroine, she truly was so strong. She grew up in a wealthy household with disapproving parents who gave her no love and married a man they approved off who was a monster who terrorised her and beat her for six years. When she tried to get out, he hurt the man who tried to help her, desperate the same man helped her escape when her daughter was four. However her nightmare wasn't over because when she wrote a book under a pseudonym to cope with her nightmares her ex returned promising to kill her so she took on a nine month journey moving around to escape. I don't think I have ever read of a more vile and manipulative character than the heroine's ex; it was surprise that the heroine had any capacity to love or trust left. Her daughter was delightful to be honest.

The hero lives and works on Kangaroo Island where the heroine has taken refuge. The hero hasn't dealt with the death of his wife and son three years earlier and doesn't like when the heroine runs into him with her daughter with an injured koala. The book has a sub-plot of poachers in the background. Even when these two grow closer, you know the hero still has issues to resolve with his past. I think for me in this series the romance in book 1 and 2 were the most compelling. When the book ends, I didn't understand why the heroine would ever go back to the States or see her parents who failed her. All in all one thing I did love was the unique setting in each of the four books.

I loved this story as much as the first I couldn't get enough of the mother protecting her child but when the man struck with grief was in love and did everything he could to protect them loved it

The final book in the Tales of the Pacific series, Out of the Ashes, features writer Alexis Whitham (mother of Jody who we met in book 1, Glowing Embers) and ranger Matthew Haley. Both guard their privacy and both are wounded souls. She has been running from an abusive ex-husband and he has not been able to grieve the loss of his wife and son and has shut down. Richards writes flowingly and with descriptive flair. You feel you know the characters as well as the environment. With the Tales of the Pacific series I have been able to escape to a part of world I’m not familiar with and envision it as if I’m there. Each book of the series deals with personal tragedy and the courage required to take their life back into their own hands. Bonus for fans of the series - previous characters from each of the previous 3 books make an appearance.

Originally published in late 1980’s, the series has been reissued in ebook format. This is the fourth and final book of Tales of the Pacific series.

Sooo.. Das war jetzt mein erstes Buch von R. Richards und ich muss sagen, es hat mir schon gefallen. Es hat mich sehr an die Geschichte von S. Andersen "Du wirst noch an mich denken" erinnert; romantische Elemente verbunden mit spannenden Highlights! Tolle Kombi finde ich.
Vielleicht werde ich sogar nochmal eine Geschichte von ihr lesen. :)
