After reading Andrew and Lauren's story in Bittersweet Love I wanted to know about Will and Charley's story. To be honest this book showed a lot of issues both on the MC's part from the beginning of the book, this made me want to DNF. The MC's are not flawed they are mistakes who are irrational and can't handle situations with maturity. When I lost interest in them the story was dragging.

Will and Charlotte start as doctor/patient with Charlotte being married to an arsehole husband. Their relationship progesses to something more and the husband finding out their affair leads the story to overcome the dissolution.

I know all heroes and heroines doesn't have to be flawless and romances have to be rainbows and unicorns, this book's characters just had me muttering synonyms of "stupid". Will's relationships with his parents was most interesting, Charlotte interaction with them were intriguing too. Every scene had a twisty drama.

The author has a talentful writing, she beautifully writes about heartbreaks and dilemmas's which may have you emotionally invested if you are into this mess. I was bored in most part of this and distracted by the aperitive situations that were unnecessarily created. This book wasn't for me.

I have to give this five because I fucking LOVE how obsessed they were with each other. Their relationship was probably so unhealthy, but I loved it. Charley was so down bad for this man it was insane 😂 I do wish the epilogue was further out but you can’t have everything I guess 🤷‍♀️ I will say that I much preferred when it was just Charley’s pov like in the first book. Being in will’s head kinda pissed me off sometimes(like when he talked about having fucked two different Charley look alikes 😐), so I much preferred when it was single pov only.

Oops I didn’t read Bittersweet Surrender first, so I thought the book began in media res. Not my favorite read by QB Tyler, I felt that it was a bit rushed and overall toxic… The main character, Will, had a serious breeding kink ahah.

tropes: doctor x patient, and forbidden romance

The story of the first book is more interesting for me.

*spoiler alert*warning*

+ Will 😌
I like him!! And I'm happy to read his POV.
I didn't see much of his personality in Book 1 so it's nice to know him better as a person on this book, and not just the marriage counselor or Charlotte's other man .

+ Grown up Charlotte, finally! 🎉
No longer the hormonal teenager on Book 1. 🤪
Her take on her divorce, and Will's personal struggles showed her emotional maturity.

+ More secondary characters especially their families and their back stories.
I'm curious what's the story of Nathan-Bree-Matt's past tho. 🤔

*spoiler alert*warning*

- Villain Matt 😕
I find it weird to see the uber busy Matt suddenly have excess time for some cruel acts, and part of me refuse to believe he's capable of doing all of those things.
Well, except for the divorce intense arguments, and the bar confrontation scene.
It had to happen.

- While Will's character arc is evident on this book, can't say the same on Charlotte's.
TBH I don't know who Charlotte is outside of her relationship or marriage .
Other than the divorce, and all things Will-related; what else does she do with her free time?

- Epilogue
I like a few years jump ahead epilogue for MCs with cheating history.
Preferably more years or longer time than the time they spent with their ex/OM/OW.

Bittersweet Addiction is the second book in the Bittersweet duet from QB Tyler. This is a continuation of Charley and Will’s story that started in book 1, so definitely shouldn’t be read as a stand-alone. Will was the marriage counselor to Charlotte and her husband and this book explores their new relationship moving forward.

I was a little worried how this book would go, it’s always that feeling of knowing a couple is going to go through some things when it’s a duet or trilogy following the same couple. 😅 But I really loved the journey packed into this book for the couple! We get some more background on their characters, Will’s own struggles, how their families and his coworkers react, their pasts, co-dependency, and just a bunch of growth for these characters together! I actually liked this book more than the first one, I loved seeing the growth of their relationship that started off kind of fantasy/lust filled.

Will and Charlotte were hard to read the first time. But now we are getting the story of them and the fall out of what is now their relationship.

Will and Charley both have issues that need to be dealt with. But we don't seem to get a lot of that in this story, and to be honest I wanted that. When you have the story that you had in the first one, with the deep emotional impact. And then you get the outcome of all that in this story, I want to see and feel the outcome. Some of that was missing in this story. There was great sex don't get me wrong. But these two had major issues that needed to be addressed and for that needed rehab. But we get no tangible information on it.

So down one star, I went. But overall these two books are wonderful and I will be reading a lot more of Q.B. in the future!

Bittersweet Addiction is book two in the Bittersweet duet. We get more of Will and Charlotte after the explosion of Bittersweet Surrender. What happens after you get the one you love? After book one's ending, don't we all want more? If you haven't read that one, start there before this one.

This book is a hard one for me to review because I think you have to bring the first book into consideration when rating it. While book one was told 99% from Charlotte's POV, this one is both Will and Charlotte and we get to see a whole new side of Will that I didn't even know existed. It actually didn't seem to fit his character that I had gotten to know through Charlotte in Surrender, at least for me. Yes, he's alpha and has strong feelings for Charley, but it just didn't seem to fit.

As with book one, we still have an abundance of sex between the characters. That's where Charlotte and Will connect. But there's more to a relationship than sex, and theirs is one that is a lot more complicated because of Charlotte's past and also Will's past relationship he has with his family that leads him to finding comfort in things that could ruin his future. I enjoyed that QB Tyler did not make it all happy and roses in the aftermath. She showed the ugly side of their decisions and really took it there. It was a messy and a very bumpy road, but throughout, you could still feel their love for one another.

I have to say that I overall enjoyed Surrender more than Addiction as a whole. These two are a storm brewing and I know that they love one another, but they are also way too dependent on one another. It really doesn't get fixed in this one, but it's actually refreshing to see the darkside of their choices.
I listened to the audio of these books and they were magnificent. Lacy Laurel was especially a standout in her portrayal of Charlotte. She really nailed her emotions and what she was going through. I appreciated that we got more of Alexander Neal in this one and he really gave us Will in all forms. The pretty, the alpha and the ugly. As an audiobook, it was fantastic. As a duet, it was well written, but the characters and their overall arc didn't always sit right with me and I wanted to see a different growth from the pair, but glad they came full circle and got their HEA.

Oh my goodness, be still my heart! I don't know who I love more...Will or Charley. What beautiful, exciting, sexy characters with so many layers and a connection that had a dreamlike quality. Kudos to the author for creating such spectacular characters. If only they could live in a bubble. Alas, their choices affect everything around them and complicate their magical love. Will's devotion to Charley and his willingness to compromise his ethics and profession is the stuff of fairytale love. His agony and emotion over his situation is palatable and makes him so sympathetic. And it doesn't hurt that he's hot and handsome. And the beautiful Charley has an ethereal quality begging for protection and nurturing. They are one of the hottest couple to ever grace the pages of a book. The story is one of love versus a professional livelihood. As the details of their relationship are revealed his profession is compromised and he suffers the consequences. It's time to pay the piper. Will their love survive? And what of Will's professional future? Will resorts to old habits that are self destructive but Charley's personal growth is terrific in their time of need. Some of the penalties of Will's actions seemed a little light considering the ethical requirements of his profession. Regardless, this is an emotional, heart wrenching finale to a magnificent duet. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC. 4.5 stars

I'm going to be honest, this is the first time reading either of these books and it's the first time I've heard of this author's work but I was intrigued when I read the blurbs descriptions when I read them and decided to give it a try... I don't regret it at all :)

These books are everything you want to read in a emotional, angsty, steamy, painful, passionate and the finding of true love even when it was found unconventionally.
Charlotte and Will's story may have started as doctor/patient and Charlotte still being married but in a saveless marriage so many of you may see it as cheating but there are a few surprises and her husband is definitely not the victim from her affair with Will. Anyways, they get divorced and them more obstacles start piling up in their way but they both stood strong; even though sometimes there were doubts or hesitance, they never stopped loving each other fiercely, possessively and never faltering.

There's so much going on in these books but I don't want to spoil anything more for you guys of this duet, so go check them out, you guys won't regret picking up these reads :)

What was the point?!

This book was so pointless!! This was the most boring book I’ve ever read. The best part we’re the sex scenes and those got old. I just don’t know what the point of this duet was.

Bittersweet Addiction picks up right where Surrender left off! Will and Charlie’s relationship is revealed and now the two are left to pick up the pieces. There are consequences for both Will and Charlie and it’s a question of if they will survive. Tensions were high in this one. QB Tyler had my anxiety levels through the roof. This book was really a test to the question of if love is enough? Though Will and Charlie fell fast, there’s so much the couple still needed to learn about each other. This is where we truly get into the thick of it, Charlie meeting the family and learning of Will’s past. But, Charlie and Will were tenacious and despite every obstacle that hit them, they refused to give up on each other. Once again, the spice did not disappoint, QB gave me my spice blazing freaking haaawt!! Like it’s predecessor, Bittersweet Addiction was hitting on every level of feels and had me eagerly devouring the pages to see how it all played out! I do wish I could’ve gotten a little more with the epilogue. These two spent a big chunk of this story fighting for their hea and I would’ve loved to see more of them in their settled state. Alexander Neal and Lacy Laurel narrating made for the perfect Will and Charlie, truly exhibiting each emotion to ensure you didn’t just read but experienced this story.

A good ending

I'm happy with the ending to this story. I was skeptical, but I agree with how everything was handled. In the end love prevails, but it took a lot of turns to get there. This was a show read, but I made it.

I absolutely LOVE Will and Charlotte and the ending to their story isn't magical, because honestly, what romance is all unicorns and rainbows? There's lots of drama, just the way I like it, but also a very happy ending for one of my favorite fictional couples.

At the beginning of this book, we find out that Will has a secret that he can't bring himself to tell Charlotte. But according to him, he doesn't have a problem. It's just a drink now and then. He can stop whenever he wants to.

But now and then turns into all the time after Matt reveals he violated some of Will's patients' privacy. He's overcome with guilt and wants to tell the ethics board about what happened, but that could lead to the dissolution of his practice.

Their relationship is put to the test in this book. We get to see more of Will's parents and brother, which was interesting. Lauren and Drew definitely have a story in the works. I enjoyed reading this book, just like I enjoyed reading Bittersweet Surrender. QB Tyler has a gift for writing and I love that she decided to share that talent with the world.

This book is filled with drama, which I know some people hate. Some people may say it's over the top, but I think it's perfect and is actually kind of realistic for their situation. Five stars for the ending to Will and Charley's story and this book will soon grace my shelf, right next to Bittersweet Surrender.

I loved this! I was a little tentative at first thinking it not feel the same as the first book because Charley and Will didn’t have that sneaking around factor anymore, but this book added a whole new depth to them and I loved that we got to focus on them as an actual, committed couple without Matt in the way. The duet is one of my favs I read from QB!

Well at least this time heroine finally got divorced. Now they had to deal with alcohol problems. 🤦‍♀️ Sorry this series was just dumb. Even though the ex was a dick he was right about certain things like when he said heroine was selfish and only thought about herself.

This is the sequel to the Bittersweet Surrender and follows the story of Charlotte and Will from the first book ended. Despite its small flaws and pacing issues, I really enjoyed the first book and it had also ended on a shocking note, so I was really excited and looked forward to reading the sequel.

This is an interesting continuation to the story and has POV' chapters from both Will and Charlotte. The first book centered mostly on Charlotte and we understood her dilemmas and feelings perfectly, but this is mostly centered on Will and their relationship as a whole, giving the much desired complete picture.

Like the title suggests- This book deals with addiction- Will's to be more precise. The way I interpret it- it's a word play signifying his addictive love for Charlotte as well as his addiction to alcohol. This was not touched in the book and hence this news came as a surprise, but it fits with the overall story. In fact, one of the issues I had with the first book was that Will's backstory was not addressed at all, and somehow, I felt a chunk was missing in it. That problem is completely solved with this book that touches upon not just his addictions, but his upbringing as well as his relationship with his family and jealousy towards his brother. Those parts, especially interactions with his rather dysfunctional family was handled very well.

Coming to the plot and pacing of the whole book- I have mixed feelings. At pats it was really good, especially how Matt was handled, the proofs that he had gathered and the whole Board that Will and Charlotte were answerable to. These were dire situations and was handled with care, and maturity without dragging it or taking it too casually. It felt very professional and believable. Nothing was sugarcoated as such. I also loved how this impacted their relation and how they were able to fight for each-other even in the muddy-waters. But again, having said that, some scenes really didn't have too much to offer to the overall plot and in fact, it slowed the pace considerably. A lot of such scenes can be trimmed or shortened making the book shorter, without impacting the overall plot.

The sex scenes were written extremely well. I really believe the author really outshines herself with every such intimate scene and kudos to her for achieving that BUT, so many were really not necessary. There was a sex scene almost every one or two chapters. At times it's distracting and hampers the overall reading experience.

Jumping onto the characters - Both of them got on my nerves on quite a few scenes. Will, to an extent I can understand. He is scared to reveal about his addiction to her because her abusive dad had similar issues and he is scared of her reactions. Point taken. But what's with Charlotte's childishness and insecurities? Will has done everything possible for her - He was ready to leave his practice without any complaints for her sake, and ever ready to marry her, but she had so much insecurities! She was not ready to listen to him, despite telling him repeatedly as to how much he loves her. Throwing a tantrum every single time and getting pissed is clearly not the solution, but she did for most part of the book and it got on nerves. So as a character, she is not my favourite, but I suppose this was required to give the couple lessons to learn and grow from. So for the book, it works - kind of, but I wish she were more sensible and matured.

As a conclusion, I would say that I enjoyed reading it, though it did bore me at parts. Writing was really good and I loved how realistic it was - Even as it touched upon many sensitive issues.

Such a wonderful book!

I did not want to put this down. After the end of Bittersweet Surrender I wanted to start this immediately. I waited about a month because I am quickly reading through QBT's back list and, this may sound like weird logic but it makes sense in my head, I know if I continue to read her books at the pace I was/am, it's going to seem like the wait for her next release is going to be even longer.

Will and Charlotte are finally free, finally officially together, but that doesn't mean their story is over. Oh no, there's much more.

In book 1 we got mostly Charlotte's life, POV, things involving Charlotte's life. In this one we get a lot more of Will, his past, his present, and some of the issues he's had to deal with.

Will, I just wanted to reach into the book and just demand that he tell Charlotte what he's been keeping hidden. Just tell her! She will still love you Will! But at the same time it was so realistic that he didn't. I know I put off going to the store to return an Amazon package, and I have the same thought process of, 'I'll do it Monday' but then Monday comes around and I took a shower late, so I push it off, 'I can do it after work on Tuesday'. But then it's a week later and I still haven't done it. And what Will had to do was a much more difficult thing to do, so while it was so frustrating and sad to see him spiral and get deeper into his addiction and put off that important conversation, it was very realistic.

Ugh, couldn't stand Will's parents.

This was such a great book, I'm glad there's a short book following this duet, I think it follows Lauren. Very excited to see what is in store for her.

I had no idea what to expect from this book as I couldn’t see how Q.B. Tyler could top Bittersweet Surrender, but she somehow managed to work her talent and pull out all the stops with this book. Whilst this is ideas from an author’s mind, she’s also managed to capture the true nature of what can happen when problems arise in a relationship/marriage or in everyday life. I love how Q.B. isn’t afraid to tackle the subjects that not many other writers would attempt to even try, but that just shows how talented and incredible she is. You can see clearly through her writing that she’s got the passion and she’s done her research. She always knows what to give her readers and seems to know how to deliver her stories with such wicked and twisted ways, I honestly adore her writing and can never get enough of it. Yet again, this book she has done an incredible job and I was so excited, shocked at the events that played out before me. I couldn’t find anything in this book to fault and I just LOVED Will and Charlotte. If you’ve not read this book, you really need to do so because Q.B. is so talented, I’m excited to see what she comes up with next, even though her mind is weirdly wonderful and all sorts of twisted.

Charlotte has finally taken the plunge and filed for divorce from her husband Matthew, it may have taken her a while but she is finally on the verge of freedom and at finding out who she really is. Now she’s hoping to just get through the divorce quickly and quietly, although by the looks of things and the way Matthew is handling things, it doesn’t seem to be going that way and with him threatening to ruin both hers and Will’s lives, she’s so scared at what he could do. But little does she realise how strong she really is.

After reading this second book, I'll be reorganizing my one click list. Q.B. Tyler has given me back to back 5 star reads that I could not put down. She has quite the talent at putting emotions on paper that translate crystal clear to her readers and I loved every minute of it!

Bittersweet Addiction is the second story in this "series"/Duet? Book one had me an emotional mess and book two was no different. It continues on from Bittersweet Surrender. This is NOT a standalone and you MUST read book one to follow along. I went back and read the last chapter of book one before I started just so I could start with a fresh memory.

The one thing that will stay with me with this story and truly the whole series is the emotions. So much happens with this couple in book one and it carries through to book two and I can't say it enough that Q.B. KNOWS emotional writing. I am trying not to get into too much detail as to what this book is about as I don't want to give anything away to readers who have yet to read Bittersweet Surrender.

Read these books. If you want a read that will pull you in, tug on your heartstrings, have you all over the emotional spectrum and leave you with a HEA...this is the series for you.

Lauren's story is next and I am super happy because I am so invested in these friends and I need MORE!

Giving Bittersweet Addiction 5 stars and all are well deserved!

Wowza, Bittersweet Addiction is one hell of a conclusion to the Bittersweet duet!

Will Charlotte save her marriage or will she give into her feelings for Will? And once she makes her decision, how will that decision impact both of them?

I think you all know where Charlotte's marriage was heading, and I for one was happy. I wanted Charlotte with the right man for her. I won't say who that is but you can guess even if you haven't read Bittersweet Addiction. But, things aren't going to be easy peasy just because Charlotte finally makes her decision. There are things in both their pasts that will inform their present and future. Charlotte steps up, grows up, and becomes a better person, her therapy really pays off! But Will? How does he handle it? Well, let's just say, not well. I won't spoil the rest, just know that the journey the characters in this story take is not an easy one. But love isn't supposed to be easy, otherwise it's not worth it, right?

I've absolutely loved this duet. Q.B. Tyler really knocked it out of the park. It's angsty and emotional, it's steamy and passionate, and it's suspenseful and layered. I am really looking forward to more from this author. If she offers up more like this duet, I will be a fan for life!

Part Two of the Bittersweet Duet picks up where the first part leaves off. Just when Will and Charlotte think they can live happily ever after, secrets from both their pasts threaten to shake their already shaky foundation. While the stress forces Charley to grow into a more mature and independent version of herself, it pushes Will back to old, self-destructive habits.

Will’s story is both heartbreaking and gut-wrenching. Tyler does an amazing job weaving a fairytale love story with real-life issues. Will’s pain and desperation bleed through the pages. It’s beautifully written and paced. The perfect end to this bittersweet tale. FIVE STARS.

Secrets always come out.

Will and Charley must now face the pain and heartache they've caused. But can they survive what is to come? So if you thought the last book was a rollercoaster, this book is a catapult flying you across the country to land in a 20ft ball pit. It will have you on the edge of your seat until the end. This book is much higher stakes as Will grapples with loosing his job, his career, his license and maybe even his freedom. Charley continues to deal with the aftermath of her divorce and he vengeful ex husband. QB has managed to write a heart pounding conclusion that is also still as sexy and loving as the last. I cannot recommend this duet enough. Masterful work!

I liked it but didn’t LOVE it! I think I might have liked it more than the first part of the duet though. Like the first book, I thought it was a bit dragged out throughout the middle of the story, but the last 75ish pages had me zooming through to see how it ended. I did appreciate that the author didn’t try to romanticize the decisions Will & Charley made or magically make their problems go away- they had to go through a lot for their HEA! I do wish Will’s struggles would have been touched on more, as well as how he seemingly came to his lightbulb moment and everything was “fixed” suddenly. And again, Q.B. is the queen of spice and I’m here for it!

After reading the first book I was not surprised by the behavior in the book. There were a few moments where we dealt with heavy issues that it was interesting to see. I haven’t read many books with addiction and it gave me a perspective into it. Though I did not agree on how it was smoothed over, I don’t think that it would be resolved as quickly. It seemed pretty unrealistic and it made me see the author in a bad light. The whole book was a lot of smut, which is okay for me but it got pretty boring. The writing for me just wasn’t doing it and combined with everything else, it all was dissatisfactory.

Sweet

I LOVED the first installment of Charley and Will's story and was actually looking forward to the next book. But the second fell a bit short too much repeat and not enough rehab or her use of her so called talents or supposed the unknown hobbies we never see. A WEEK in rehab ? PLEASE with no insight to that process let alone the suspension and what he would do with his time and or his world-renowned career after the boardhearing or his rehab . All we ever see is just what he's doing between her legs. Don't get me wrong that was hot but a not all what makes a memorable story or characters just a string sex scenes.
