About The
K. C. Sahni was educated at St. John's College, Commonwealth forestry Research Institute, Oxford. He worked for 28 years at the

Forest Research Institute, Dehra Dun, from where he retired as Director, Biological Research. From 1966-68 he was FAO/United Nations Forest

Botanist at the Forest Research Institute, Khartoum, where he wrote Important Trees of the Northern Sudan Published by FAO. He was Edited,

Botany Section of the Encyclopedia of Indian Natural History Published by OUP for BNHS. He also wrote the Trees of Chandbagh. He earned the

World Environment Day Award in 1994 and Seth Memorial Award 1995.
Illustrations are by P.N. Sharma, a well Known and experienced botanical artist.
