Julie Abery is a children's author and former Pre-K teacher. Originally from England, she has spent half of her life living in Europe, bringing up her three (now grown up) children and experiencing new languages and cultures. She now calls Switzerland home.
Spend a little time with Little Tiger as he goes about his day, pouncing-bouncing, prowling-growling, walking-stalking, and, finally, cuddling-huddling, and off to sleep. So much fun!
In perfect rhyme, author Abery shares a fun story of a day in the life of a baby tiger. There is a lot of adventure and excitement packed into a short book making it a perfect read for and with the littlest kids. The bright palette and large expressive shapes of the figures will also appeal to very young kids.
Young children will see themselves in the character of Little Tiger who wakes early (and wakes everyone else up) because why sleep when there is so much to do and learn. But no matter where Little Tiger goes or what trouble he gets into, Mama is always close at hand, ready to step in to help when needed.
A comforting book that encourages discovery and curiosity, it has a marching beat of spot on rhythm and rhyme that combines with vibrant illustrations to keep kids turning the pages and asking to hear it over and over. This one is destined to be a classic board book for bedtime or anytime.
This is a sweet, rhyming read about a cub's daytime venture. The strong verbs add action to the story and the excellent illustrations bring them to life! As we follow the little tiger, vulnerable and adventurous, we can't help but think about how well young readers will relate to the cub's journey out to explore the world. The spread with our tired little hero cuddled with Mama, under the moon, offers a satisfying finish to the story and the read.
Little Tiger starts off his day with a lot of energy – waking everyone up! Then he’s off on his tiger adventures, but don’t worry, Mama is there to make sure everything is okay. A companion to Little Panda, this board book has a similar structure, taking us through a day in the life of a baby animal. Little ones will love following along with Little Tiger’s day.
Little Tiger is a lovely and lyrical book for the youngest readers. I love the rhymes and repetition on each page. The illustrations are magical and provide an excellent accompaniment to the sweet story. This book is sure to be a favorite, being read over and over.
A very sweet rhyming text about Little Tiger’s adventures. Little Tiger does get into a little trouble, but mom is there to help. I especially love the great action words! A great book to share with a little one.
Little Tiger goes on an adventure and everyday is a new one! Toddlers will relate to the rambunctious little tiger that wakes early to greet the new day. This delightful board book encourages curiosity for how else will he learn? The same concept goes for toddlers. They’re in awe of each new thing that comes to their attention, and just like Mama Tiger, they can be sure their own mama will be there to guide them. Abery’s simple rhymes will quickly make Little Tiger a young child’s favorite.
Little Tiger has so much fun in the jungle! When he gets in a little trouble, Mama's there to help him out, and at the end of the day, Mama's there to cuddle him to sleep. With beautiful, colorful illustrations and a lovely rhythm and rhyme, this book is something children will want to hear again and again.
An adorable book that toddlers, kids (and parents!) will love. The sparse text is matched with gorgeous illustrations. A sweet story told in beautiful rhyme.
This is such a sweet story, especially when paired with Little Panda (same author and illustrator). Both stories are written in rhythmic rhyme and tell the touching story of an adventurous cub’s day – as she explores the jungle around her, falls into a mishap, is patiently rescued by her loving mama – and then happily embarks on the next adventure. The cubs remind me of my own toddlers – exploring with wide-eyed enthusiasm, seeking the safety of mama, then regaining their confidence for the next game.
The illustrations for Little Tiger are bright and beautiful, while Little Panda boasts calming wintery hues. Both books’ illustrations are playful and show the carefree curiosity of the cubs and the loving joy their mothers take in their playful antics.
A wonderful set of books for a child and a loved one to share.
What a delightful adventure little tiger goes on! A fun day filled with play - every child can relate! This book is so fun to read with its rhyme and quick pace. The ending is quite satisfying as little tiger is so tired from his busy day and is ready to fall asleep. A perfect bedtime book.
I loved this book. From an environmentalist POV, Julie nailed it. Young children and mammals alike must be able to discover their environment without mom butting in. Mom will always be near, observing and ready to protect her child in case of need. As parents, we must let our children explore even if they get into trouble or get dirty. It’s part of growing up. The rhythm and rhymes add charm to the books, and the illustrations are adorable. I read both to my grandchild. He loved them. Therefore I have the same review for both. Well done Julie Abery.
I love this book. It’s so endearing to see such a noble animal in the animal kingdom be illustrated in such great artwork. The book provides great insight to the care of a lion cub, and relates the care to how life is for a baby and his parents.
Such an adorable book to read with your little one. Perfect wind down story before nap or bed time. Follow little tiger through the day as he prowls, romps and slips and slides through the jungle.
This is such a wonderful picture book about a tiny, adorable cub. Filled with soft illustrations, wonderfully rhyming verbs, and playful lyrical language, Julie Abery introduces readers everywhere to a baby tiger's young life, shenanigans and all. This is an extremely fun read aloud that readers will enjoy over and over again. In fact, you might even find a reader wishing they could have a baby tiger, they get to know one and it's environment so well!
This adorable board book is told through perfect rhyme and lively illustrations. Little Tiger is a sweet and playful character that will capture your heart. The first in a series, Abery’s board books are sure to become instant classics. Young readers will enjoy joining Little Tiger for an eventful morning in the jungle again and again.
A day in the life of a tiger that is just right for the littlest readers. My three year old enjoyed pointing out and naming the animals. He also declared “again!” When the story was over. Kids can easily connect with the mother child relationship in this beautifully illustrated board book!
This is the perfect read-aloud to help little ones unwind before bed. The rhyme is spot-on with a playful, bouncy meter to match, allowing the reader to experience the day's activities right beside Little Tiger. Sweet illustrations, sweet story!
This lovely poetry about about a momma and baby brings these animal creatures close to home. The illustrations are gentle and lovely. The rhyme is fun to read aloud! These are such relatable stories for the youngest picture book audience!
The Little Tiger is a beautiful rhymed poem. You get to spend a day with a tireless Little Tiger, who would remind you so much of your toddler! Strong illustrations complete the poem. What a lovely book!
