I combined both the sounds of the black and white keys; creating a piacere. I liked that word. It meant that I was creating sounds at the pleasure of the performer; for nobody else except myself. - Marla Dawes
This is a complete erotic romance series featuring a menage relationship. I found it quite difficult to review after almost abandoning the series mid-way through the first book. The series has serious moral grey areas and seriously needs a trigger warning for those in sexually abusive relationships and rape survivors. Brandon is an ass, I can't think of a suitable punishment for his behaviour. His later actions in the series don't make up for his actions. Marla's blindness to his actions frustrated me.
It wasn't all bad. Marla had brilliant elements of realism. I saw myself in Marla for one reason the uber distracting crush. I remember more than one getting me into trouble academically. And my most memorable was a transfer too. Jason is adorable, his shyness, development and confidence, he was quite appealing. He is so different to Brandon, some of the descriptive passages about them made me wonder what was going on, what someone less confident in themselves would take away (yes its fiction, I know). There is moral to the story always trust the bestie, Michelle's a good character, I feel like someone ignored their bestie in the past and this is their apology. Even her major misstep is real. I actually thought it was very well written, there were some brilliant sections of writing that felt like it could have been pulled out of a young woman's head. I really like the term piacere which I'd never heard.
Overall mostly good characters, well written but seriously flawed in the plot department. If you can overcome that you will like it.
