I didn't think I would enjoy this book. I am not a widow. I didn't know if I could relate. As a Navy veteran who didn't really appreciate my time in service, this hit me in the heart strings. It made me feel...dare I say it...patriotic. It makes you reflect on what someone's ultimate sacrifice means to the loved ones who are left behind.
I would also recommend this book to anyone who has ever lost someone. It really helps to understand the range of grief emotions when a loved one is taken violently from you.

I enjoyed it well enough. For me it played out as a memoir to the author's dead husband.
