Trained by the Boss

Rate this book

After graduating college, Aiden Montgomery isn’t sure what he’s going to do with his life, other than marry the woman his parents told him he had to. Then, his friend offers to get him a job working for his father.

It’s a dream job, dream hours, and decent pay. Yes, his friend’s only offering to help because he’s gay and has a thing for Aiden, but Aiden’s straight. So turning him down shouldn’t be an issue. That is, until Aiden meets his new boss, Griffin Hart.

Griffin is everything Aiden secretly fantasizes about. Secret, because no one can know he longs to submit to a man who can take control, who can take Aiden across a threshold he so desperately wants to crawl across on hands and knees.

Aiden soon finds out Griffin is exactly the kind of man who can take him from straight to gay, push his boundaries and buttons in a way he never dreamed possible. But Aiden’s boundaries are there for a reason. He’s engaged to a woman his strict, abusive family picked out for him. And his boss’s son isn’t too happy about Aiden falling for another man, even if that man is his father.

When their relationship is revealed, everything they’ve worked for threatened, Aiden will have to decide if he’ll succumb to the pressure from his family and deny who he’s always been, or if he’ll be the man he’s been trained to be.

Trained By The Boss is a M/M BDSM straight to gay first time erotic romance intended for an adult audience.

Aiden and Griffin fell for each other hard ever since their first meeting. I didn't like the idea that Griffin was Geo's dad and Geo was hitting on Aiden for a year. The way Geo ended up was also sad especially since I never painted Geo as a bad guy. He was just .. in love I guess. Aside from Geo, there wasn't much development in other side characters.

Not a slow burn romance and warning alert, it does have bdsm content.

I was expecting a much more in depth d/s training book. It had its moments but too few of them for all of the over the top, unbelievable drama and rushed ending

I read all the way to the end... so that's something.

From the tittle and the summary I was expecting something very different from this book. I expected it to be dark and mysterious and full of ...well ..."training". There is literally 1 scene, and its short and incredibly boring because the mc's are boring and as flat as cardboards.

I kept expecting the story to get more debph. That Aiden would fall for Geo and Griff would do horrible things but nopeeeee everything was just a mix of cheesyness and horndogs. I couldn't suspend my disbelief. Aiden is suposedly straight, after the first page its obvious hes just in the closet and by the end of the first chapter its obvious he was just on the hunt for a Dom. Any would have done, Griff just happened to be the first and only one he met.

The climax was ridiculous with Geo and made no sense why he would do that since he wasn't treated horribly by the Mc's to want or warrant such revenge.

Revenge that was retarded since both parties were consenting to the relationship so it shouldn't have been an issue unless Aiden pressed charges which he never did and even came foward to state it was all consensual. This blowout would have made sense if Adrian and Geo had been together and Griff was blackmailing/extorting Aiden. Then it would have made sense the continuing fall out.

And that super unrealistic ending? I can't even... so Aiden made a company from scratch that turned into a million dollar company in a year? Does whomever wrote this knows how the business industry work? A consultation company does NOT become a multimillionaire company in a year unless the owner has mad conections and investors which Aiden didn't have. Also they never stated Aiden was a genius or corporate savvy. He was a recent college graduate who became a personal assistant(for less than 6 months according to the time jumps in this book). Not saying he's not smart but its a little farfetched to go from assistant to making your own company and have it go multi in a year. I don't know why this fact is bothering me so much. I guess its just too unrealistic for the characters involved and not well planned. Especially not plotted believable enough for me to suspend disbelief over it.

And we never get closure over why Geo would risk/have ruined his life and gone to jail for at least 30 years just because his college chush(for a year and who as never into him) hooked up with his dad? It would have been more believable if Geo just outbought his dad's company(since he clearly was portrayed as tech savvy hacker inventor with multiple investor's willing to trow money at him) and left the dad in the poor house and cut him out of his life. But even that seems way too extreme for just a crush who wasn't even that good of a friend and cut you high and dry the moment you werent useful or beneficial to them anymore. Geo's character was set up more to be a victim than a villain. So I was just baffled when halfway through the book you see signs of him being the main antagonist. It just doesn't make sense and plays out so poorly we never get a proper explanation for anything.

At one point I thought they were going to be friends again and we'd have a second book featuring Geo. But nopeeee. Guess half way through the story someone realised they had cut out the evil dad too quickly and needed another antagonist. Who cares if it made no sense and the character had no real motivation to ruin his life in such a way over basically nothing(and gain nothing even thought he succeeded in his 'evil master plan') and get trown in jail for at least 30 years? I care apparently...

Ugh, I started ranting so I'm bringing this review to an end.

Final thoughts. Way too corny. The smut was so bland I got bored and skimmed through it. (Nothing irks me more than a MC that only thinks about getting laid. That was the whole motivation for Adrian's character. He wanted to get laid all the time, anywhere and anyhow. He had as much restraint as a starving dog infront of a steak. It's just so tedious to read. Like, its cool that you're attracted but there wasn't one conversation between them where he wasn't hard and begging almost pathetically. Dude keep it in your pants for a minute!) It could have been interesting, or at least a smutty read but it just wasn't.

I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t as intense as I’d hoped. I thought the way Aiden’s father beat him it didn’t make sense that Aiden wouldn’t press charges. He was never even interviewed by the police. There were other things which seemed nonsensical to me, but I won’t go into them because they’d be spoilers.

2.5 stars. I love the friend’s dad trope and D/s power dynamic between Griffin and Aiden.
What ruined the book for me was the major conflict at the 80% mark or so. Not only did it ruin the story, but my opinion of Aiden tanked.

the best of the 3

This one was my favorite of the 3. The intensity and chemistry these 2 characters had for each other was SO hot!

These characters go through a lot to be together. Aiden gets betrayed and it puts him on a separate path away from Griffin. They need the time to heal and grow. When they come together again, they are in a much better place to continue their relationship. AND the end was perfect! Loved it!

I might delete the above ^ for erotica reviews, but I’m keeping it for now. I need to trial and error how I’ll go about erotica assessment in general.

As for this book, the ending was particularly far-fetched, but this book stayed entertaining the whole way through. It could have been expanded, but I like short books so it’s fine. I can see folks looking for more/deeper bdsm content being very underwhelmed by this book, but I was ok with it.

The writing was better than I expected. Much more plot than expected, too. Overall very good!

This narrative explores a fiery age-gap romance between a personal assistant and his employer, who also happens to be his best friend's father. While the intimate scenes sizzle, the emotional journey feels lackluster, leaving me unconvinced by their professed love. The surprising twists at the end inject drama, yet the subsequent storyline fails to deliver a satisfying development.

If I hadn’t been in vacation and had had time to carefully choose what to read, I would have been disappointed. It’s a good thing I had no expectations.

The story was honestly kind of stupid. From beginning to end. It was entertaining, I’ll give it that, but not much could save the book.

Both main characters were idiots. In fact, there isn’t a single character that I liked (beside maybe Lily). The top, who’s older and should have had more life experience, was emotionally immature. So much for being assertive.

There is a useless third act breakup, which I hate. At that point, I was done with the story. It did nothing but make the book even dumber.

Mini-Review:

Well. Hm. Yay for Aiden & Griffin's love! The rest? Eh. This short story tried to have too much happening and that made it less appealing to me. The other turn off were certain actions & phrases that were used in the other Storm stories. It was an okay book with some great moments & ideas but it didn't come alive on the page like I hoped it would.

Es tan simple, tan simple, que llega un momento en que deja de tener sentido alguno.
Los protagonistas son totalmente planos, la historia del hijo no tiene pies ni cabeza y el final está tan mal desarrollado que aburre horrores

"But this? I choose this. I want this. Belonging to you is the only place where I feel seen. Where I feel like I have power. Where I feel like someone gives a shit about me."

WOW. I just fell in love with Aiden and Griffin so damn hard. This story may be a kinky dom/sub one but it's also one powerfully, beautiful story of self discovery; finding independence, self love and learning to find a balance with someone that brings you nothing but fulfillment and happiness. I loved this every step of the way. The characters were extremely likeable and their chemistry was palpable from the beginning.

This is a shorter story that is easy to devour. A FAST burn but not regrettably so. Aiden comes from a family that is every bit controlling. His father is physically, mentally and emotionally abusive. Aiden must be perfect or he is punished. His mother is always on her husband's side which leaves Aiden with no one to lean on. One day when going to interview with his "friend's" (very sleazy Geo) father for a job at his company, instead Aiden finds himself submitting to this man with no second thought.
Now now, most my say going from a controlling household to a controlling man is hazardous to Aiden's health but it's really not. Griffin is the perfect dom, and the perfect human for Aiden. While being a dom means control, being a sub means power. Which leaves Aiden to finally feel he has a grip on things in any way possible. The best part is, Griffin lets him. This relationship is way deeper than just some in the bedroom jazz - it's a partnership. Although in the beginning they struggle to grasp it's equal. Griffin is there for Aiden through everything and is willing to lose it all for this man.

Without spoiling anything - there's a part where everything goes downhill and it's heartbreaking. Where I usually get frustrated at things like this and want to throw my book across the room I actually savored every moment of what happened. It was NEEDED. Aiden had the chance to fully grow into the man he always wanted to be. And when everything comes back around in the end it makes it way more worth it. It's not lost on me that this (the endless tease until a much needed release) was the essence of their dom/sub relationship and in the end it became the biggest reward anyone could wish for.

This was my first read by this author and obviously from my review I am in love with it. I can't wait to read more and discover more beautiful rendered stories and characters.

2.5⭐️
🌶️🌶️🌶️ - it’s plentiful and descriptive but aside from their daddy/boy dynamic I don’t think it was actually very kinky.

It was OK, it wasn’t bad. It wasn’t great, it just kind of filled a gap while I find my next great read. There’s Insta love, there’s a Daddy/boy dynamic, there’s straight to gay, and low angst.

Aiden is a recent college grad, and he is offered help finding a job by way of his college roommate, introducing him to his successful father. Aiden is closeted, but he knows that he likes men, or at least he’s pretty sure he’s kind of in denial. But then of course, he meets Griffin, the roommate’s successful dad, and there is instant attraction from both sides.

Griffin hires Aiden to be his personal assistant, and also has plans, unbeknownst to Aiden, to make him his boy. Unfortunately for Griffin Aiden’s home Life is not rainbows and sunshine and this makes up a decent chunk of the plot conflict. The rest of the conflict is a result of Aidans inability to stand up for himself due to his shitty home life.

Of course they work through everything and get an HEA.

I wish that their connection felt deeper, because it happened so quickly and it’s not a product of obsession. It didn’t feel as authentic as I would have liked it. I also wish that their Daddy/boy dynamic was 24 seven and included a bit more TPE. Otherwise, it’s a fine basically to pass the time.

NOT a romance BDMS. This is a very Dark and Hard core BDMS erotica, no holds barred.

This is extreme BDMS. There's nothing gentle or loving or even remotely romantic in this so-called erotica. This relationship is heavy-handed from the get go. *spoiler* there's a scene where the older man, after severe sexual torture, finally gets the young man off with a hand job [the boy had to scream his safe word, he was in so much sexual pain that lack of release was unbearable]. The older man then grabs this poor young man from the neck to shove him towards his cum demanding he lick it clean off the floor. This was the price for being allowed to finally have an orgasm. This is way extreme, cruel and mean. This is not for the faint. It is hard core and not forgiving in the slightest. That being said, the synopsis just did not prepare me for what I was to come across in the read. I've read BDMS romance .... key word romance. This is NOT romance it's a dark hard core BDMS. If you like that kind of read.... go for it, this is for you. I find it so disturbing and so distasteful it's offputting, quite frankly.

Beautiful

I absolutely scored this book. It is so well written , the first I've read from only one point of view too, I think I miss it this way.

Aiden is such a fantastic character, so strong, a bit naive but has strengths and morals I don't think even he recognises at first. He may run away and seem like a coward, but surely he can't be blamed for that.

Griffin is the ultimate Dom. Wanting total control over his sub, but as any good Dom should be, he also wants his sub to recognise his worth, and would never knowingly hurt him. The fact he does, well, he can't be blamed anymore than Aiden at this point.

Geo is a toad. A worthless friend and son. Too consumed with jealously and have to do what's right. I'm glad he gets his just desserts.

This book is written so well. I had a smile on my face. I had years in my eyes. Sometimes I had both of these together. Charlotte Storm wrote her world and her characters flawlessly and I read this without putting it down once. I devoured the whole thing greedily.

I shall now be hopping straight to Amazon to read the other books and has in this series, and more.

Thank you 😊

A good page turner

I went into this book, not quite sure what to expect. I mean, besides the obvious smexy scenes. Aiden is impossibly cute and watching him transform from meek, almost in a daze, child (in the figurative sense) into a fully actualized adult is just amazing. It was also amazing to see his training progress from needy and almost haphazard, to calculating and percise.

Griffin is just yummy, and his transformation as a dom was amazing to watch as well. Moving from "this is fun, I like this submissive" to "I genuinely love this man" is always exciting, but what makes this special- in an almost fated type of romance way- is that they develop naturally, and it isn't super rushed.

Geo... well he is dick... not much else to say, unfortunately.

Overall, I loved it and would definitely reccomend.

Really wanted to give four

This is phenomenal read. The editing is on point.

Best friend’s father, boss/employee, age gap, D/s

The few things that stopped me from giving four: there are no trigger warnings (this book has descriptive, past child abuse; and abuse of a an adult child) Neither of these happen to be triggers for me, but I know several people who this could have been damaging to.

There are a few scenes with negative self-connotations about being gay and liking men that, while very much an insight to the character building, left a bad taste in my mouth.

Had I not been recommended this book, I may have passed by it as the author writes straight and gay romance under the same name. There are a lot of readers who only read one or the other.

It's a shame the author had to make Geo the villain. I personally didn't feel like he was all that bad (until the plot twist at the end). Plus I was interested to see him move on and hook up with Aiden's other friend. Of course that won't happen. If only Griffin and Aiden had been more upfront and considerate of Geo, maybe things would've turned out differently. It's just weird that Griffin never once considered how his son would feel if he hooked up with his son's friend. Plus Aiden is apparently friends with Geo but always thought so negatively of him. The author should've just made Geo a close acquaintance because it leaves a sour taste when its family that does the backstabbing. He was supposed to be a son/friend and they couldn't care less about him (before and after the betrayal).

Only enjoyed the BDSM parts.

Everything around them was ... well, it made me really aggressive.
Very predictable. Full with cliches.

I haven't understand many things.
Like why did Aiden just flee from Griffin as he was offended by his son the same AND EVEN MORE as Aiden.
Why did they just made up after two years. Acting like nothing happened. Griffin didn't even ask once why Aiden left and ignored him.
And then - of course - they married.
Honestly? Wtf. They don't even know each other very well. Haven't seen each other in two years and just get married.
And of course Lilly becomes Aidens best friend and stuff.

I am really disappointed ...

Mmmm...Yes,Sir!😘

OK...a I'm addicted! Aiden is so wonderfully lost and confused. Eager and sooo willing it makes you squirmy. I actually felt his eagerness to please Griffin. Griffin can feel his subordinate side screaming for release even though Aiden couldn't voice what he was feeling. Griffin can't resist Aiden. Their pull towards each other is so natural. This story is well defined and flows easily. Let it capture your heart just like it did mine. 😍😍😍

Really good

This is a new author for me and I have to say it was a very well written and edited story which is always a plus for me. The two MC's are great and had a beautiful connection. I loved the pace, the storyline, and especially the HEA. Recommend this book to anyone that loves this genre.

Sexy and Emotional Story. Enjoyable.

3 1/2 stars. Sexy and emotional story about characters that I loved. More than a novella. It was a short and enjoyable novel. I loved the characters. I read the book in one setting. It held my interest. The ending felt rushed. This is the first i have read by author. I will read more, especially this series.

Loved it!

I don't like writing reviews, but I needed to tell you how much I enjoyed this book and Aiden and Griffin. I could not bring myself to read the plot twist that I knew was coming. Had to throw my phone down, skip it, see the HEA, then I could stand to read it. When that happens, you know the author is Magic! Thank you to CS for such a great story.

Look, I may be facing down shark week and there may be a nation-wide shortage on my ADHD medication and it may be 3:15 am, but this book made me cry in the best way. So rarely does a spicy book handle bdsm and kink in a healthy and hot way, but this book does just that, with a bit of character growth and an adorably emotional ending, it's seriously a great read!

📚 Surprisingly (respectfully) really well written! I got this book in a blind date with a book box last year and needed something quick this week. I thought the characters and conflict were actually really interesting and grounded. I’d like to read a more fleshed out version of this without so much sex.

Very sexy fantasy

I thought that Griffin was mighty hot to read about, but a rather disturbing person to meet IRL. Aiden was a fun character and it was awesome to see him gain the confidence that he needed to stand up for himself.
