Scarlet Jones #2

Storm Power

Rate this book
Continue to read Scarlet's story to find out what happens next!

The demons are after us. The ECU is after us. What are the odds that we'll ever stop them from hunting us down?

Very low.

Good thing I'm all up for impossible challenges.

When the demons came into the ECU's "research" facility where we were being held prisoner, the strange dragon attached to my hand came to life, giving me a way to end those suckers for good. We might have made it out alive, but a lot of witches like us didn't. Instead, they were kidnapped by the demons.

We can sugar-coat it all day long, but we all know it was my fault. I brought those demons to the facility. Now, I have to set the people they took free.

With a Hedge witch by my side, whose name is on the ECU's most-wanted list right under mine, I plan to claw my way through those demons until every last one of them is dead, and until the ECU stops trying to wipe us off the face of the earth.

It's time the whole world knew that we're the new witches in town, and we're here to stay.

Another good thing is that pretty much nothing went as planned, or this story would have been boring as hell.

Scarlet Jones 2

Reading this book was exhausting. As I stated before, the endless fighting and running doesn't make for a good plot. I am grateful Sienna made a power source for the dragon because Scarlett was going to die. I also wish the author would have written more about Ax and Scarlet's attraction to each other. Two paragraphs here and there does not make a relationship or interest from the reader in seeing the characters having a relationship. Who is Elisa? Who does she owe and why? I believe the green- eyed man is the dragon. We'll see in book 3. 2.75 stars. Happy reading!

D.N. Hoxa’s Storm Power is an excellent follow up book in her new Scarlet Jones series. Poor Scarlet has loads on her hands in this exciting book 2. Demons who have no problem killing witches. The Executive Control Unit or ECU (the highest and only authority for paranormals on Earth) which also doesn’t mind killing witches, and poor witch Scarlet Jones stuck between them. Don’t worry, she has a plan. Even better, the plan doesn’t work - and a “good thing ... that pretty much nothing went as planned, or this story would have been boring as hell.” Trust me: this book is the total opposite of boring. But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

Storyline is there but too much missing information.

I hate writing bad reviews but, I was thoroughly disappointed. I read the first in the series and had a hard time making it through but figured I'd give the second a go, big mistake. She gives you a world with zero understanding of the players, the characters run around with no clue as to what they can do and who they are, the bad guys are never defined or explained. This was like reading pages with names and instances that never quite fit together. Nothing in the end makes sense and by book 2 you'd think we'd have much better character and world development. I'm afraid I can't make myself read the next book. I'm sad since I've devoured Ms. Hoxas other series, this one unfortunately is in this reader's opinion bad.

I really liked book 1 and was not disappointed with book 2. I twas full of action, adventure (kind of), and lots of magic as Scarlet and her new friends try to save everyone captured at the end of book 1 by the demons and stay away from the ECU. They have a plan but.... I liked the mix of magic and demons in this world. It made me laugh and groan a few times. Loved the surprises and random mini twists. Scarlet was a hoot. I was entertained and read it in one sitting as I had to see what would happen next and what trouble Scarlet would find next.

This book picks up, basically, right where it’s predecessor left off. It was a very quick read— it took me three hours to read. That said, the storyline progresses in fits and starts. I have so many questions (I’m assuming they’ll be answered), but if I didn’t, what would compel a reader to buy the next book?
I’m enjoying the story and the character, and I look forward to seeing where this story takes them.

The blurb says it all. I thought this one was fantastic. I can't even imagine having to face everything Scarlet has alone, before meeting Elisa. Fighting demons while searching for others like herself is exhausting and sometimes painful. I loved Scarlet and Elisa. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

So interesting and full of action

This book doesn’t stop with the action from beginning to the end. Scarlett has a lot of responsibility on her shoulders and I love how she continues to grow with each chapter. We do get some answers to who these new witches see but not many. I look forward to the next book!

Omg I love this series

The characters in this series are so innocent, so young, but also many have strengths and strong character that seeing them grow, struggle, and reading their experiences is exciting. It even feels encouraging and empowering for those who everyone else views as powerless and victimizable.

Great story

It starts slowly, but not that bad. There is a lot to learn when you're a new kind of witch that everything apparently wants to kill. Hoax builds the the tale meticulously and imaginatively, just like we can expect of her. More please.

Ok

The story was good but I don’t know if I can deal with these characters anymore. Sometimes they act very childish and other times they act a little bit more grown-up. I will give the next book a try and if it’s not any better then I’m going to be done.

Storm Witch

Love the name and my most favorite. So much has happened. They have found a leader and their protector Scarlet. Book one was exciting but the adventure keeps getting more and more exciting.

Book 2 of the Scarlet Jones series picks up where book 1 finishes. I struggled in the middle section. I found it to be overly difficult to engage with the characters. I almost didn’t finish, but the end was better than the middle.

Storm Witches

Loved it! Lots of build up and heartbreaking angst in this one to keep you hooked in and trembling with anticipation. Scarlet is amazing and fearless.
