2017 Roné Award 1st runner up in the Paranormal Romance Category.

Lane DeMarco is a broken vampire plagued by a horrific past that makes intimacy and trust impossible. His passion for playing music is the only thing satisfying enough to curb his insanity...until Vanessa shakes his life up harder than the San Francisco earthquake. She’s smart, sexy, headstrong, and his desire for her could spiral out of control…except she is a witch. The same witch who once cast a nasty spell on him.

Vanessa Creamer inherited a powerful birthright, but traumatic events in her life have shattered her confidence. Though she hides it well, she struggles daily with self-doubt and denies her deepest longings for the one man she truly wants. Her attraction to Lane, with his sultry voice and bedroom eyes, proves irresistible. All her attempts to connect with him have failed and she fears his hatred of her is as powerful and intense as her desire for him.

Passion ignites between them as they struggle with deep-seated secrets that haunt them. Can the witch he distrusts tame the destructive demons that torment him? Or will their fervid desires send him deeper into the hell he’s been living in?

I love nothing better than a hot, brooding and cocky alpha male. Rocked by a Vampire definitely has one that gets my pulse racing, Lane DeMarco. He has many debilitating memories from his past that have come back to haunt him since Vanessa, the best friend of his brother's woman, walked into his world. To make things worse, she's a witch. As much as he tries to deny his attraction to her, he just can't get her out of his mind. This makes for some steamy sexual tension and a cranky vampire.

Vanessa has troubles of her own, but she tries to hide behind a brave facade so no one will know how vulnerable she really is, especially Lane. I really like her and the courage she shows throughout the book. Even when she is faced with a situation that has her knees shaking, she pulls strength from deep inside and takes it head on.

Susan knows how to write paranormal romance that has me begging for more. This series is one of my favorites and thank goodness many of the characters from the previous books in the series have active rolls in the story. I am crossing my fingers that there will be more books in this series because I seriously can't get enough. (Maybe Elvis or Gage's story?? *hint)

I started reading this third volume of the Immortal heart of San Francisco series and found I just could not put it down and kept reading until the early hours of the morning when I just had to go to sleep but picked it up again as quickly as i could the next day.
What can I say other than it was a Fantastic read. Definitely not a book to be put down and picked up here and there.
Lane is a sexy, very attractive twin vampire to Cian who has already found his lifetime love. Lane feels that this will never happen for him and so resists his own feelings for the lovely Vanessa, who is also a witch. They have several run ins and get involved in a scenario where they just have to work together and this produces so much adrenaline between them, the big question is whether or not they will give in.
I just loved this book, you are with them all the way, you can feel their emotions, their doubts, their fears and their love. Don't miss it.

This is exactly the kind of romance I’ve been looking for—cheesy, over-the-top, predictable, utterly delightful, and smutty as heck (but with a plot). 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ Read the TWs first because there was a lot of traumatic history of the MCs I wasn’t prepared for, but I’d recommend for fans of Twilight and The Bold and the Beautiful who are looking for some spice. The ending was meh, which took it down a star, but enjoyed the rest of it a lot!

Reviewed on behalf of "2 Girls Who Love Books Blog." Rocked by a Vampire is Book 3 of the Immortal Hearts of San Francisco Series. I had not previously read Books 1 and 2, Tempted by a Vampire and Captivated by a Vampire, before reading this book. I normally don’t do this but it was necessary in this case. The author did an amazing job of filling in any possible holes of information that the reader may want to know from books 1 and 2 and I never felt lost from not experiencing those books first. The author warns the reader in advance about this, so you are definitely given the opportunity to stop right there and make your decision. The information she provided made me understand the other characters and made me interested in reading those books as well. From the title, you should be able to tell it is a paranormal story but Susan has brought in a little magic as well making Vanessa a witch. This was fun and added some great levity sometimes – a handy thing to have when your boots just can’t come off quick enough.

Rocked by a Vampire is written in dual POV – something I love. I will never understand the male mind, even after being married for 29 years, so I really enjoy having his thoughts written for me and letting me know exactly what he is thinking and why; it helps me from getting too frustrated when they make stupid choices! Vanessa and Lane are the perfect couple. Both have a past littered with baggage and reasons why they should stay away from each other. Their story continually called out to me when ‘real life’ called and I was forced to put them away for a bit. I was always ready to get back to them and see where they would be going next. The author has done a wonderful job at letting the characters develop and get to know each other before starting a sexual relationship - this is something else I like, it allows me to relate to the characters and get the feelings I love when things go wrong or go right. She entices us, wets our appetite, steals it back and keeps us coming back for more to see what is yet to come with these two. Just when you think they’ve got it made, out comes the drama and the inevitable when you are the girlfriend of a very hungry and horny vampire. The build up to the drama is evident in the book if you are paying attention and the way it all plays out is very well written. I was happy with the outcome but in retrospect, it seems it may have been a bit too easy. I had expected a little more tension and action but like I’ve already said, she made me happy in the end and I really enjoyed this book.

With paranormal books, I sometimes feel the authors stray too far from what mainstream society has come to accept as the norm but Susan has kept within the ‘realities’ that we have come to believe about vampires and witches. This helped make the story believable and interesting. There were no out-of-this-world scenes that made me wonder where she was coming from. She actually had me believing the mansion with the hot, sexy vampires and their night club really does exist.

This story may have some triggers, especially for victims of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse but hopefully that will not keep you from reading this awesome little paranormal love story, they are not that graphic but they are there. It also includes some gore but this is a vampire book remember. They have a mean streak when it comes to people that hurt their loved ones. It may also be a trigger for women who enjoy a little neck biting while making love – it may have you clenching your thighs, moaning a little (or a lot), and yearning for a little vampire action of your own.

I hope you give Vanessa and Lane a chance to tug at your heart strings and bring a little music and their own special touch into your life.

Vanessa is a witch. Lane is a Vampire. The two mix as well as oil and vinegar. But when they finally do come together, the taste is EXPLOSIVE.

Griscom does a great job adding just the right amount of heat and anticipation to all of her characters, but I have to say, the story of Lane and Vanessa was by far the most exciting. Vanessa Creamer’s apartment is under renovation which leads her to move in with her best friend, Maggie. Only one problem, Maggie’s boyfriend’s brother lives there too. And he’s a real, class A Jerk.

The banter goes on between the pair for quite some time before the two discover they share an equal passion for music. They begin working on a song together which leads them to open up about their sordid pasts. They quickly go from enemies, to friends to lovers. Then, an incident unfolds where Lane must save Vanessa’s life.

The story was definitely an exciting one that I thoroughly enjoyed. Since I’ve read this entire series, there are some small things that I’ve noticed that I feel I must address. It bothers me slightly that sometimes the characters have no unique characteristics of their own and instead almost blend into one. For example, why do they all say “Oh my Gods.” (as in plural) I could MAYBE get Elvis and Gage using the term. After all they are thousands of years old. But Lane and Cian? I’m pretty sure the majority of the population believed in only one God two hundred years ago. And Maggie, Vanessa and Chelle saying it? Now it’s just downright weird. I also had to roll my eyes when Lane flashed Vanessa to the top of the Golden Gate Bridge. Yes. The same place his brother took Maggie in book 1. As if this was their old hat trick they used to score with a girl they liked. I guess it just took away the significance from when Maggie and Cian experienced the moment…Lane and Vanessa should have gotten their own.

Vanessa and Lane have been doing the fascinated/repelled dance since they met. Lane is a vampire and Vanessa is a witch, so they have that complication also. Both have serious issues from their past that are complicating their futures. I loved seeing Lane learn to overcome his issues with the help and love from Vanessa. I loved Vanessa as the tough yet good-hearted strong female. The unexpected twist in the plot had me on the edge of my seat.

A very enjoyable book with a wonderful ending. Involves the characters from the previous books in this series. Could be read as a stand-alone, but you’ll probably enjoy it more if you read the series in order. Can’t wait for the next in this series.

Rocked by a Vampire
Is Vanessa enough to cure Lane's demons?!
This book is a beautiful mix of love, heartache, and sinful sex!
This book destroyed me emotionally. I was on a roller coaster of emotions. Euphoric highs and toxic lows. Pain from the past could ruin both their lives. Will they let it? Mrs. Griscom definitely knows how to keep your pulse racing! This is one of my must reads of the year! It is a highly addictive read that was easily devoured that leaves you wanting more. More Lane and his saucy little witch.

I started reading this book knowing I was going to fall for this sexy vampire rockstar, the. Minute he started talking about the witch Vanessa and all the dirty things he wanted to do with her I was hooked! While reading you could feel the sexual tension the second the two were in the same room. I really enjoyed reading how the two learned to trust each other and eventually learn to fall in love. This was the first book of this series I've read I'm going back now to read the other two and I'm excited for more from this series.

Really enjoyed this book! I've wished for Lane and Vanessa to be a couple since Cian & Maggie's book! Lane had an awful past to contend with and Vanessa was not quite as confident as she appeared, although Lane really helped her to gain some real self-confidence when they got past the initial bickering!

Really looking forward to the next book! Not sure if it will be Gage or Elvis next as they both had potential love interests this book although Elvis's wasn't seen or named.

I really enjoyed this story. Susan did a wonderful job on this story. I liked the witches and vampire touch. The characters if you read the first two books you would know who some were but even if you didn't you read them its ok cause the way Susan wrote the book you got to meet the characters and it would leave you for wanting to go back and read book 1 and 2.

At the recent "Stuff Your Earbuds" event, I was drawn into the audiobook of the third volume of the "Immortal Heart of San Francisco" series. This enthralling tale was so captivating that it kept me hooked until the early morning hours. Sleep was a reluctant necessity, and I eagerly resumed my listening journey at the first opportunity the next day.

This is not a book to be casually paused and resumed. It demands your undivided attention and rewards you with an exhilarating experience. The narrative centers around Lane, a strikingly handsome vampire twin to Cian, who has already found his eternal love. Lane, however, doubts he will ever find such love, leading him to resist his burgeoning feelings for the bewitching witch, Vanessa.

Their paths intertwine multiple times, culminating in a situation where they must collaborate. This shared experience ignites a rush of adrenaline between them, leaving the listener in suspense about whether they will surrender to their feelings. Adding to the intrigue is a delightful spiciness that permeates the narrative, enhancing the overall listening experience.

This book is an emotional rollercoaster that takes you on a journey with the characters, allowing you to experience their doubts, fears, and blossoming love. It's a must-listen audiobook that I wholeheartedly recommend. Don't let this spicy, captivating tale pass you by.

A witch and a vampire fall in love.

There was a tension between Lane and Vanessa right from the start and the banter between them was done in a way that you could tell they were picking on each other because there was an underlying attraction. The romantic relationship starts out with some enemies to lovers' vibes but it becomes more about them facing their own demons before they can give in and really love each other.

For most of the book it focuses heavily on the relationship between Vanessa and Lane and not much else. We learn why they are so withheld from each other when clearly, they want to be together.

For me the story moved a little slowly, and while I enjoyed the romantic tension and relationship, I wish there would have been more going on because we hit the eighty percent mark and all of a sudden Vanessa has to get ready to fight this big battle against a bad warlock. I understand why and loved seeing her really go all badass, but it felt very sudden. It also felt like the moment was only designed so Lane could face his father and deal with those issues.

The ending was perfect. It wrapped everything up nicely with a happily ever after and a certain someone got what they deserved for what they did to Vanessa.

There is some dark themes in this book, so check the content warning before reading.

The third book of the series it can be read as a standalone, without being lost on the progression of the story. All the details that you need to know are provided as you are reading without any confusion.
Lane and Vanessa take you on a journey of how to overcome your past and embrace the future.
Both come into the story with heartache and snark. It is obvious that if they quit fighting their attraction would overcome them. With these two the arguing is just the long warm up.
Once the two of them realize that when they take the chance to find a common ground, walls slowly begin to come down and the real adventure begins. Old wounds open to find a new approach to healing. Hearts and minds are at war. Never a moment of peace in the house.
The only minor dislike was that it was focused so much on the vampire issue that Vanessa being a witch never really got to be explored too much. Just seemed like a passing reference. Then there was the fact that it seemed without the gifts from being either a witch or a vampire that the characters were not able to obtain the self confidence that they needed to after the hands that their past had dealt.
Great story. Action packed. Never know what to expect.
I received an Advanced copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving my review.

This series is able to take you on a rollercoaster of emotions, as we read and experience how deeply the lives and challenges these characters face and live through can be felt as they deal with the ongoing mysterious events that seem to plague each person as they try to live and hopefully find love.

What an introduction!

I got this kindle book for free and immediately read it because the blurb hooked me. I love paranormal stories but sometimes is hard to find them repetitive.

Well I can tell you, I will definitely will be reading books 1, 2 and 4. This book has not only amazing characters, it also has a compelling and fleshed out story, dealing with triggers and PTSD after abuse. Make sure to read the book intro by the author in the free sample she does warn about what the book will be dealing with, so you are prepared.

I think the author did a superb job of handling the difficult topic of dealing with the characters traumas, within the romance. I appreciate the fact that she mentioned the stories and gave you the picture without making it retraumatizing if the story could trigger you.

Even though I did bot read books 1 and 2, I fully enjoyed book 3 and will be reading 1, 2 on KU immediately. My first book by this author and it will definitely not be the last. Well thought out, a story that moves along a keeps you engaged. I am looking forward to more of her content.

Book 3 in Griscom's Immortal Hearts of San Francisco. A beautifully well written and perfectly narrated read. I loved the dual narration and oh, the accent for Lane makes me weak in the knees! So, this is obviously Lane's story along with Maggie's friend Vanessa. While this could technically be a stand alone, these characters are introduced in previous reads and you'll have a better appreciation if read in order.

So, Lane is a hot, broody, rocker vamp struggling with inner demons while Vanessa is a witch who is struggling with a past trauma she hasn't shared. These two start off like oil and water but the tension between them soon becomes sexual tension.

A captivating story with great flow. Dual narration is again, perfect. Amazing characters who experience wonderful growth. I loved every minute of this read/listen and I can't wait for more!

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Lane has had a horrific childhood and then when his maker forced him and Cian to do things, it took him a very long time to overcome it. Only, when he turned Chelle, it all came back~ Vanessa, the witch, has had a thing for Lane for a while now. She has her own painful past to overcome as well. When the two have to run-ins, Lane is still having issues. They will have to come clean to one another if there is any hope for the future. Vanessa surprisingly has another talent besides witchcraft but can she let others know about it? Vanessa’s cousin comes to town with her boyfriend…but, who is he really? Vanessa will be in a battle not only for her life but to save the planet and everyone on it. Can they overcome their pasts to help one another? Can they be together? Can they beat back or kill the evil that threatens everyone?

Vamps and witches.

Lane DeMarco is a 220yr old vampire. Along with his twin brother, Cian. Gage and Elvis, (also vamps), make up the band The Lost Boys.
Vanessa Creamer is a witch and bf's with Cian's mate Magdalena. Being close they spend a lot of time together which leads to Lane seeing her often. He's rude, opinionated and quite frankly obnoxious towards her, but inside he yearns for her. The attraction is mutual.
You come to learn that they both have damaged pasts, and a troubled present, so through the storyline they help heal each other. Throughout the book there's plenty of sex.
Now, I haven't read the first two books but I found this third one easy to follow. It's a full book, written well and in the H/h's pov. Good main and secondary characters and a hea.

This is so good, that I didn't want it to ever end. The chemistry, whether good or bad, between Lane and Vanessa is magnetic and explosive. Very well written paranormal, author blends the seemingly unmixable. Plot is intense, immersing and swift paced with never a dull moment. They engage feeling of happiness and anxiety, I love that with time, they are steadfast and willing to communicate, trust, release all their pent-up emotions and open their hearts to love. Absolutely love this!!!! I received an audio copy at no cost and without obligation from the author. The male narrator has a very sexy voice, lol...the female narrator is good too, both do very good job with emphasis and intensity when/where needed.

Lane is a vampire with an abusive childhood, which we see too much of nowadays, and can't commit to a relationship especially with a witch. Even though he has always secretly had the hots for her. You wouldn't know though the way he berates her all the time.

Vanessa is a witch that was bullied at school as a child, another thing we see too much of nowadays, and has relationship issues secretly, but has the hots for a certain vampire.

Will these two help each other overcome their turbulent pasts once and for all, or will they continue to live in the shadows. See how love can sometimes help overcome these terrible issues.

Kudos to you Ms. Griscom!

Trigger warning:
I'm glad I continued with this series. There's something special about this group of vampires. Griscom's writing has also improved throughout the series. Now, the triggers in this story were not my favorite. But I enjoyed how Lane and Vanessa were able to help each other conquer their fears and past. I especially liked the music aspect of this story. All-in-all, Lane and Vanessa's story was a great addition to the series.

Vanessa and Lane seemed to let their damaged past ruin their present lives. In the prior books in the series Vanessa was a good strong friend but by the time we got to this book her insecurity’s and neediness got on my nerves. Lane was wrong for what he did to Shell in the last book so why was he not effected until this tale. They really did have bad stuff happen but it was the end that made the book ok.

Frenemies to lovers

I hadn’t read any of the series and jumped right in to this 3rd book. The couple for this book start out as enemies/longing for each other. They’re drawn together then push apart several times before they start making progress. I really enjoyed the well-drawn characters and the banter/sniping with some supernatural happenings and plot twists. If you like a feisty heroine and a hero who needs to get over his issues and meet her halfway, you’ll love Vanessa and Lane.

I guess I'm in minority here but this was just an ok book for me. Maybe I'm just fed up with the same pattern and predictable tales. I liked both characters, the chemistry was ok, their past experience are directing their relationship. They spill their heart, than there is some wannabe suspense and they finally decide they can't leave without each other. It just seems like every paranormal romance is following the same pattern.
