FROM POPULAR ROMANCE AUTHOR JANUARY BAIN

Book two in the Brass Ringers series

Think being a PI is all dull divorce cases? Think again.

Lacey Cameron, private investigator and treasure hunter, takes being headstrong and passionate to a whole new level. It takes exactly one morning in a school teaching young minds for her and her identical twin sister to break the whiteboard pointer in half, throw their keys onto the teacher’s desk and heed the seductive call of wide-open spaces and awesome adventures.

William James Thornton Ш, a renaissance man and warrior poet who defended his country in Iraq and Afghanistan, knows he’s got his hands full trying to get Lacey to see him as more than just a friend. He’s ready to settle down, marry the woman of his dreams and make his mother a happy grandmother. Hell, he’s got enough treasure in his bank account for two lifetimes.

Things go from normal craziness to extremely dangerous in a heartbeat as hired killers are sent after Will and Lacey, who are getting too close to the truth in a murder case. If Will can get them out of this mess, he vows to lay all his cards on the table with Lacey. Get her to recognize what they can share as a couple. Passion. Love. And a commitment to blending her wild nature with his own—the perfect spicy combination. Even if it looks like it might just be the death of him.

Lessons my Grandma taught me.

I have such fond memories of my grandmothers. They were both special in their own way and taught me so much about how to live my life that I will be forever grateful! Here’s the list of six top things they shared with me:

(1) Don’t say anything if you can’t say something nice about someone. I think this is my favorite one as it has kept me in good stead all my life.

(2) Never be late. Doing so makes you think you’re more important than someone else. You’re not!

(3) Life is too serious to be taken seriously. Keep a sense of humor, it will help get you through the hard times. They were both right about that one.

(4) Share what you can with those in need. Know what is your burden to bear, and what is not. This one has kept me sane over the years.

(5) Don’t be a critic. Critic’s don’t create, they only tear down. This helps me when reviewers say unkind things about my work. I try to remember that they probably just need a hug today.

(6) Do the best you can do at everything you do. At least then you will know you gave it your all.

Thank you, my beautiful grandmothers, for being strong and sharing your gems of wisdom with me. You did more good than you can possibly know.
Hugs, January Bain

This second book in the Brass Ring Sorority series gives us Lacey Cameron and William Thornton’s story.

Lacey is a feisty, fearless Private Investigator—Will a poor little rich boy, turned Elite Special Operative, in the Canadian Military.

Best friends since college — Lacey, shows no interest in exploring a relationship with Will. Yet Will. wants nothing more than to finally get Lacey to take notice of him and realize what they could have together, if she could just let go of the past.

When a former boyfriend of Lacey’s is murdered, she leaps into PI mode, and heads to Manila, to find the truth of what really happened, and Will is on a mission to keep Lacey safe. But Will has some secrets of his own.

When Will and Lacey, stumble upon a cover-up, danger follows, putting any kind of future together in jeopardy.

I found the mystery intriguing, amid the burgeoning romance between Will and Lacey. I also admire the way Ms. Bain was able to sprinkle this story with the rest of the Brass Ringers.

Looking forward to Rebecca’s story.

Lacey and Will have been best friends for a long time. Will would like to see their relationship become more but Lacey is not quite ready for a serious permanent relationship. Lacey is a strong willed women who likes to do things on her own without anyone to stop her and she sure don’t need a man hanging around giving her orders and changing it.

Lacey and Will are Private Investigators who work together in the same firm. Lacey likes to travel all over the world hunting treasure. Lacey is not ready to settle down nor have a man in her life besides she has her best friends the Brass Ring Sorority, seven of the best friends a girl could ever ask for. The Ringers stick together no matter what and if one of them is in need of their help they will drop whatever they are doing go all the way across the world if called.

A Friend of Lacey’s from college calls her asking for her help. Megan informs Lacey that her brother Danny was murdered and she wants Lacey to find out what happened. Danny was mugged but Megan thinks there is more to the story than they have been told. Megan thinks that something is not right and it all may be a cover up.

The murder took place in the Philippines so I guess it looks like Lacey is headed to the Philippines but she is not going alone as Will has made himself her bodyguard. He tells Lacey that it is too dangerous for her to go alone besides he has his own private plane and lots of money.

Once in the Philippines the clues start to pile up and Lacey jumps in head first not thinking of herself or anyone else. These clues take her down some very dangerous roads putting Lacey’s life in peril. Lacey may be hot on the trail of a murderer but someone is hot on her trail as well which could cost Lacey more than she could ever dream.

Chasing Lacey keeps you wanting to flip those pages to see where the story is going next. It has loads and loads of mystery and suspense leading you down some very perilous roads. After reading Winning Casey I couldn’t wait to meet Lacey and get to know her and see where she took us. I can’t wait to meet the rest of the girls in the Brass Ring Sorority.

I would recommend Chasing Lacey to anyone who likes a good mystery with little suspense as well romance in their stories.
