New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Tess Oliver concludes the heart-stopping, gut-wrenching Lace Underground trilogy in the final book, Devoted.
She came. She conquered. She destroyed.
How did I lose control so fast? I knew it was dark and twisted. Only, what I did in Lace Underground didn't feel wrong. I'm dealing with something huge and dark and life changing and I have no one to confide in. Everything is different now. And he was hiding a terrible secret.
Book 1 - CAPTIVE Book 2 - OBSESSED Book 3 - DEVOTED
Tess Oliver is the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of the Custom Culture series and a large collection of other romances. She is well known for her relatable characters who "become your friends" as you journey with them and for intriguing stories that will have you "devouring her books in just one day". Tess has been featured on USA Today's 'Happy Ever After' site, and in publications including Glamour UK and Elle UK magazines.
The conclusion to a story about a female detective that goes undercover to investigate an underground club involving drugs and prostitution. She is taken captive by the "brains" of the operation, Kane. He uses drugs and sex to control her, but ends up setting her free.
In this conclusion, Tess Oliver creates a love triangle between Ten, her partner, and Kane. We don't know who she will end up with until the very end.
While the story was intriguing, it didn't quite live up to it's potential. Tess Oliver had the opportunity to create so many twists and turns and I was hoping she would. Having read many suspense thrillers in the past, my mind was spinning with the possibilities.
In the end I was let down. The story had too many holes that were never explained and ended in a very lackluster fashion. The writing was solid though. I neither loved the story or hated it, but I think other readers may still like it.
Okay, wow. I definitely enjoyed this one more than the second, if not more than the first. The sexy scenes were few, but we watched Ten's messy and very real journey to recovery. We also saw some of Maddox's, as well. That open-ended finale was a nice touch, especially because I still couldn't get the morally gray aspect of Kane out of my head. In reality, this would probably be a black and white situation, but as for this suspended reality, it was just gray enough that I was satisfied with how it all ended. Loved this series!
Hand on my heart, this is one of the best series I have read in a long time! Dark, gritty, hot, mind blowing, breathtakingly beautiful. This whole series has had my emotions scattered seven ways Sunday! But I think this one for me has been the most emotional. Devoted is Book 3 in the Lace Underground Trilogy, watching how Angie and Maddox have dealt with the aftermath has had my heart split wide open. All involved have a long road to recovering and it is paved with many 'bumps'. Chapter 19 had me in tears, gutwrenching tears! Chapters 26 and 27? She got me good!! Really good!! Honest to goodness, you need to one click this trilogy, it will have you on the edge of your seat, shouting at your kindle. But Lord it is so worth it!
Kane stole the show in this series. I want to see him get his hea in the twisted way only he can. I didn’t feel anything anymore between Ten and Maddox. It’s like they ‘were’ and missed their opportunity of more. Not feelin it in this book.

I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an ARC copy of this book.
Best Seller! That is the only way to describe how I feel about Tess Oliver’s new trilogy, Lace Underground. Captive, Obsessed, and Devoted (books 1-3) truly had me from start to finish. I am having a hard time reviewing Devoted because I cannot go into the characters, as it will truly ruin it for you. I started off so heartbroken with Devoted. Devoted was truly gripping. My love/hate relationship with the characters in Captive and Obsessed had me turning a corner, and Devoted had me truly loving each one; yes, even Kane. Devoted had the twists and turns, ups and downs that Captive and Obsessed had, but it also was piecing everything together, you could almost hear the puzzle clicking into place through each chapter. One or all (not saying which ones) of the characters had lessons being learned, coming to grips with and being at piece with the past, and such heart break. My emotions were all over the place. The sex scenes were so deliciously described, and so very, very HOT. I really enjoyed the supporting characters of Captain Clark and Silvana too. Captive, Obsessed, and Devoted, the Lace Underground Trilogy are a must read. You literally do not know how it ends until the last three sentences. That said the ending was truly perfect. My heart was working overtime on this series. I was so heartbroken reading Obsessed and it continued to break in Devoted, but as Tess Oliver is so particularly good at, she slowly pieced it back together again. My only suggestion would be to block out a chunk of time to read Captive, Obsessed and Devoted because you will not be able to put them down. It is no secret that I am a huge fan of Tess Oliver. She is a one-of-kind author, and if you have not read any of her books, you really are missing out. The Lace Underground Series should be on the best seller’s list. Thank you, Tess Oliver, for the incredible series of Lace Underground.

Angie Tennyson has to go through a lot in the final book of this series. She's broken and lost, but at the same time she feels she found a part of herself at the Lace Underground. It may have been unconventional, or seen by others as wrong. But Angie knows how she feels. How she felt. But she's ready to face all that is in her path. To pick up her life and heal, regroup and move forward. She has a lot to work through, to think about and choices to make.
After the way book two ended I could not wait and had to dive into this one just as fast as the first two. The conclusion to this series was great, satisfying but also leaves you craving more at the same time.
Again who do we love? Who do we hate? Is this wrong, or oh so right? My feelings for this story and these characters were all over the place. This really is a series to binge read.
I love how Tess Oliver didn't give us the typical romance. She made it complicated and raw. Sexy and with a dash of sweet. The author made you see things through the eyes of three different characters. To get into their heads and see things in their perspective made these books all the more interesting.
I didn't know who to not like, who I should love, or who I was going to root for. These books make you question things at every chapter.
DEVOTED is the conclusion to the Lace Underground series and must be read last!
This book begins right after book two ends. I don't like giving away spoilers but I'll just say that nothing is as it seems (remember Kane's tattoo?).
Admittedly, this book is much less intense than the first two books but I loved it just as much! Even knowing all the things that Kane did, I still had a huge soft spot for him. And, crazily, I was just as torn between Kane and James as Angie was. Tess Oliver wrote such a FANTASTICALLY character driven story that I felt myself able to completely relate to each of the characters, even the bad guy! I understood Kane, James AND Angie's POVs and could sympathize with each of them.
The plot was just as intriguing as the characters though! I loved all of the little twists that were thrown in. But the BEST thing was how Kane's tale gets wrapped up. It was a bit predictable but I don't care because MAYBE, just maybe...Kane will get his own story?!?
My only complaint was the absence of an epilogue and that's just because I'm selfish and didn't want to leave these awesome characters and their disturbed world! Told from multiple POVs with a sexy, happy ending. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
After killing the man she's loved for years, Maddox, Angie won't even look at Kane. She's refusing food and everything he tries to offer her!💔 Before she knows what's happening she is out of Lace Underground & back with her team. he shut it all down and let her go.😲 She's in for another huge surprise too! She's taken straight to Hospital then Rehab to wean her off of what ever was in Nectar!!😔 For the Police the hunt is on, big time, for Kane while Angie recuperates and tries to gain her health & well being back!🙏
While their were hurt feelings & bruised egos, Angie's real friends & colleagues didn't hold what happened against her - the higher ups, not so much, it seemed!😡 She really struggled to come to terms with desires her time with Kane showed her. She's normally tough & independent but she discovered she loved losing control in the bedroom, she found that hard to reconcile.
This was a good trilogy, it was intense and interesting. It wasn't too dark. I found Kane's backstory intriguing! I thought the accident was a bit pointless, it didn't add anything to the story at all.😕 Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable read!🌟
Just finished reading the ARC of book 3 in the Lace Underground trilogy. This book will keep you guessing until the last chapter. I am so in love with this series, it's is written so wonderfully. The fact that you don't really want to hate Kane Freestone, but you are also rooting for Maddox all the while falling in love with Tennyson. It's a love triangle that works perfectly all the way to the very last sentence. This book only continued the roller coaster ride you have been from from the first book and through the second book. I could not put this book down, I NEEDED to get to the end so my curiosity would be fulfilled. I'm going to be honest and say that I was rooting for her to end up with both men, but in the end one does the right thing by her. I can't wait to reread this series again this time while I'm not at work and constantly being interrupted! :) These books are quick reads, the story is meaty and will pull you in immediately and satisfy you with a great ending. I loved every second of all 3 books and can't wait to recommend them to other readers
Let me start off by saying I have read several (most?) books by Tess Oliver and have enjoyed them all. However, this series completely knocked it out of the park. I could not put them down for anything and actually read all three within about 30 hours. I literally could not stop reading them. (You MUST read these in order!!!) This series is hard to write a review on since I don’t want to sum this book up and possibly ruin the previous books. I will say do not cheat and skip to the back of the book. I’m guilty of doing this sometimes, but held off on doing it with this one. I can assure you, you will regret doing that is you do peek. Just stay on the edge of your seat and read it front to back. I promise you, the ending will end the series with everything answered. Well, depending on how you look at it.
I cannot imagine Ms. Oliver writing anything better than this series. She is going to have a hard time topping this one. I look forward to her trying. :)
Devoted is the last book in this trilogy The Lace Underground. All I have to say is that it is the perfect ending for this trilogy-but no one reaches happily ever after without many complications and feelings that can destroy all 3 of the characters.
This book pieces all of the three books together and gives us explanations, and I can't say enough about this book except I was very surprised but happy about the way it ends. Tess Oliver has totally given me a gift of this trilogy and I just don't want to give anything away. I loved this trilogy, have already read all three books twice and I wish I could give it a ten************ rating.
I have always been an avid reader of this author's books as they are always different stories, and she never writes books to prolong the end of a series; she gives it her all in the books she gives us!
One of the best authors I have had the privilege to read. Oh my.....I absolutely fell in love with Kane's character and was secretly hoping he wouldn't be caught, my wish was granted, I am so happy Detective Tennyson set him free. Once again, a well written trilogy by Tess, every page has you in its grip racing toward the finish unyet not wanting to complete the book because you've grown so close to the main characters, I found myself backing team Kane and Oscar. While the book is full of very hot page melting scenes Detective Maddox brings a new sometimes rugged and rough approach to the relationship he is chasing with Detective Tennyson, he stands by her during the hard times and battles with his inner demons knowing he needs to find other strategies to win Tennyson over. I hope in the future Kane will be revived in another book, personally I think he deserves to be.
I am a little bit disappointed with how it ended. I had no idea how it would end but I did not saw what Kade did happening.
Amazing story about a strong woman who loses herself in her latest mission to take down the mad genius. And the man who loves her and risks his own live by helping her find her way back.
I normally don't read books that involve drugs for the reason I think they are gonna be boring with the withdrawal feelings but that did not happen here. It was so much more then drugs. This book was about drugs , sex , crime , losing and finding yourself , lust , love. It's a powerful story that truly captivated me from the start and had me hooked from beginning to end. If you are doubting , don't .. I promise you , it is worth it
One simply couldn't review or talk about this novel, you must read the entire series! I wish I could say simple things, but honestly I don't think I can do it justice! This series was a mind Fxxx as much for me as the main characters, but truly main character,Angie(Ten). While Maddox is important, the series truly is about Angie and her experience and understanding of herself.
Truly, if you appreciate a great twisted mind bender, with happy endings for an amazingly real character,YOU WANT TO READ THIS SERIES!
I am still processing, but Angie's words to Dr. Renfrow from the prolouge resonated throughout all the first two books. Those words ate at me through the the third to the very end! Again. Read. This. Series!
Tess I think is getting serious pleasure in playing with our emotions with this triology. Bravo my dear, Bravo!
My insides felt as if it was in a free fall! You had no idea which way it’s going to take you. At times you want to shake Angie and ask her “What the Hell!!!!”
Maddox dude man up! Angie has gone through some serious shit, it’s not all about you!!!
Kane you poor poor demented soul.
This has got to be the first love triangle that I’m not mad about 😂.
Didn’t want this trilogy to end, it was darkly beautiful. Definitely worthy of binge reading, it would have driven me CRAZY waiting to see what happens next.
Please tell me there is another book, otherwise just WTF? Did I miss a disclaimer somewhere?? That ending is a big stretch for me considering nothing was resolved with James. I'm not convinced that Ten isn't in love/lust with Kane if her jealous reaction and arousal on the bridge is any indication. If "reality is merely an illusion", was the Lace Underground all a dream? I'm just so confused!! This is a great series, I just thought we'd get some resolution at the end, especially between James and Ten. What happened in that four month span after Kane sails away? Too many unanswered questions. See, my mind is still reeling and I need answers!!
What a series absolutely loved the way it ended, we get to see what happens to Ten now that she is getting the help for what happened while she was in Lace Underground, will Ten and Maddox have a chance to find out if there love is strong enough with Kane still not been arrested. Each book kept you on edge wanting to know what could possibly happen next, you read hoping to find the answer but the story just draws you in so much that you just can’t put the book down. Each book ends with you wanting more, I recommend everyone read this fantastic new series from Tess Oliver.
The third and final book!!! Holy cow, this one starts right where book #2 left you hanging and basically we're in the middle of a crap storm with little hope in sight. LOL The progression in the book is a little slower but still at a natural pace, we finally get all the missing pieces, we see where we are going and we see all the ways the end could go. The beautiful thing about this final book is that even though the reader expects certain things, you are left wondering right up till you get to those final pages. The whole series is brilliantly written and I highly recommend it to everyone!
Sorry but I couldn't really see the point in this book as it could really have been covered in an epilogue in the previous book. I get the wanting to wrap everything up properly and give main character Ten a chance to come to terms with everything that happened but while there was a nod towards doing that it didn't do a great job of it. It makes a big issue of things, Maddox's inability to get past his ego for example, or Ten being debriefed, but then skips over them actually happening. There were way too many time skips for my liking.
This is the last book in the Lace Underground series. I was given this ARC for my honest review. What an emotional roller coaster Tess Oliver took us on with this book! I cried for and with Angie, while at the same time chuckling at her sarcastic wit. I loved her connections with both Mattox and Kane. I won’t give away any spoilers but the ending was spectacular, and only fitting given the complexity of these characters. Can’t wait to see what Tess will create next for her readers!
