A group of mythological creatures are friends in this series (a gargoyle, dragon, fairy, griffin, and a yeti. The misfits go on a quest to help a Leprechaun find his missing pot of gold, and end up also helping a kelpie. This is a cute early chapter book with a fantasy setting, but a story very much grounded in the concerns of first or second graders: Friendship, helping others, going to school, and concerns about developing skills more slowly than peers.

I liked the mythic creatures, and was impressed that the book included Kelpies because they are not well known.

Who is your favorite character and why? Fiona the fairy is my favorite character because she is very funny like me.

What surprised you most? What surprised me most was that they found the Lost Pony and returned it to its family.

Would you change the ending? Why/why not? I do not want to change the ending because it was very nice and sweet.
