Beginning’s a bit confusing and there’s some dry bits when you start out- but WOW part two had quite the twist. Didn’t see that coming at all.

Over all I’ve got some questions for the author(s)- but definitely will read again. Highly recommend.

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BIBLE

At first look, I wasn’t sure I would like this Bible,  but after I started going through the pages, I realized how great this Study Bible is. It is the Christian Standard Bible, and I have really enjoyed this version of the Bible for several years. I have encluded several pictures for you to get a glimsp of what is in this Bible. You will need to zoom in to read it good. One if my favorite features is the Bible reading plan. It shows a reading plan for each book of the Bible, and shows how to study and really understand what you read.

This is a little more about this Bible and hiw men can use it.

When I was given the opportunity to review the He Reads Truth (HRT) Bible, I knew I could not offer a proper evaluation without having the chance to examine the She Reads Truth (SRT) Bible as well. I'm grateful to the publisher for indulging my curiosity and sending me one of each to review and give away!

As I expected, although the translation is the same, the Bibles themselves are quite different.

She Reads Truth Bible. He Reads Truth Bible.

When placed side-by-side, it's easy to see that one is larger than the other. It turns out that the HRT Bible contains nearly eighty more pages than its gender-specific counterpart. Keep reading to find out what makes up that content.

First, a little background: The She Reads Truth ministry was founded in 2012 to engage women of all ages in the Scripture through daily reading plans and a vibrant online community. In 2015, the ministry was expanded to offer men a new way to connect with each other through coordinated study of the Word under the brand He Reads Truth.

Similarities

Both the SRT and HRT Bibles are presented in the Christian Standard Bible version which I reviewed here. Both are black-letter editions set in a custom Bible Serif typeface which was designed specifically for "optimal" Bible reading. (That's their concept, not mine.)

She Reads Truth Bible. He Reads Truth Bible.

These gorgeous hard-cover Bibles are Smyth-sewn which means they will lay flat when open no matter where in the text you are reading. The wide margins and ample white space offer the reader plenty of room for note-taking and Bible journaling.

The ministry's namesake Bibles were designed as a tool to help men and women develop a habit of reading the Bible every day and enjoying it.

My hubby exploring the He Reads Truth Bible all on his own!
My handsome hubby and the HRT Bible

The SRT and HRT Bibles both include a detailed introduction to each book of the Bible as well as a curated reading plan for that particular book AND related supplemental passages from other parts of Scripture. They both include full-color timelines, maps, and charts. And instead of a concordance, you will find a list of key verses and a topical index.

The SRT and HRT Bibles both feature the exact same theme verse represented artistically at the beginning of each book. The verses in the HRT are less feminine in design and created digitally with heavier fonts.

She Reads Truth Bible — Introduction to Matthew
She Reads Truth Bible — Introduction to Matthew

He Reads Truth Bible — Introduction to Matthew

The She Reads Truth Bible is gorgeous. Each book is opened with a beautifully hand-lettered verse. Most are printed in one or two colors; some are full color (see below):

Differences

The She Reads Truth Bible was prepared by women for women and contains 189 devotional readings contributed by 17 writers—all women.

The general editors and founders of the SRT ministry, Amanda Bible Williams (above left/top) and Raechel Myers (right/bottom), wrote nearly a third of its 189 devotionals while Erin Davis and Rebecca Faires together contributed nearly half. And a handful of devotionals were contributed by popular authors Annie Downs, Liz Curtis Higgs, Ellie Holcomb, and Andrea Lucado.

She Reads Truth Bible

The He Reads Truth Bible features NO devotionals, but it's still nearly 80 pages longer than the SRT Bible. So, what fills that gap?

"The CSB He Reads Truth Bible includes robust, well-crafted theological extras to draw the reader back to Scripture, increase biblical literacy, and foster a growing affection for God and His Word. The HRT Bible is packed with 125 full-color charts, infographics, and illustrations as well as "detailed" outlines for each book. This makes the HRT Bible read more like a study Bible than a devotional Bible, and this is the biggest difference between the two.

Quick clarification about what Holman means by a "detailed outline" in the new He Reads Truth Bible. The "detailed outline" for Acts is three pages long, but the pages are mostly empty. Check this out:

I've been teaching verse-by-verse through Acts for two years (I inherited that pacing from my Dad), and this is NOT a detailed outline. It's not even a remotely detailed outline. It's a basic overview of a few topics covered in Acts.

"Detailed" outline of 2 Peter

And to answer your question: Yes. EACH outline is this "detailed." It's my opinion that the "detailed outlines" account for the 80+ additional pages in the HRT Bible.

I'd like to explain all the differences, but there is too much. Lemme sum up: The He Reads Truth Bible has more white space; less devotional content; more infographics, maps, and charts; and less contributors than the She Reads Truth Bible.

Both Bibles Have an Issue That's Hard to Ignore

As with any Bible, the pages are extremely thin. In the She Reads Truth and the He Reads Truth Bibles, the pages are so thin that the text and/or illustrations on subsequent pages interferes with the text on the page you're trying to read.

You can literally see three pages at once.

I hate to say it, but it seems that the publisher paid so much attention to the type, the layout, and the styling that they neglected to consider how distracting it would be to have such translucent pages.
Should you choose to purchase one of these Bibles, you'll need to choose your writing instruments with care so as to avoid the ink's bleeding through the pages. I'd recommend using only colored pencils for highlighting and pencils with soft lead for note-taking. Definitely do not use gel pens or markers. Even ball-point pens with a medium tip will be distracting.
That said, I'm a note taker, Bible journaling woman. This Bible would never work for me. I prefer one with thicker pages and a concordance.

CSB He Reads Truth Bible is just as impressive as the She Reads Truth Bible. This one is handsome looking and will be appealing to guys. This is available in several styles including cloth over board, genuine leather, and LeatherTouch. I received the Evergreen Cloth Over Board.

The Hardcover Bible comes in a holder or sleeve that you can store your Bible in when you aren't using it. It slides in the case and is easy to remove the Bible.

This is a hefty Bible that is around 3.9 pounds. There are 2 ribbon books markers in the Bible. One ribbon is white and the other is a red color. The ribbons are situated with one in front and the other one in the back of the Bible. Nice feature to mark off your reading in the Old and New Testament.

This is the CSB (Christian Standard Bible) version of the Biblical text.

The pages are laid out in a single column format. You have a larger than average margin for notes. The pages have super thin paper. This is too bad with that great margin area for taking notes. Highlighters will bleed through creating that ghosting effect on the other page. The margins are large enough to even put post it notes if you don’t want the bleed through.

The text is an 8 point and the font is easy to read. This is a very appealing looking Bible with the designs within the pages. The Bible has a very minimalist look as it isn’t busy or distracting even with the handsome touches throughout. There are some hand-lettering with some key verses, but not the flowery flourishes you would find in a women’s Bible. It looks and feels very masculine and still appealing to look at.

There is a nice reading plan for you to read the Bible in a year. It is located at the back of the Bible and also at the beginning of each book.

The beginning of each book also has an outline to highlight the major themes in each book. This is also were you find your beautiful handlettering illustrations.

There are lots of charts, maps, illustrations, timelines, list, and infographics throughout. The front of the book is a glossary for you to locate them quickly if needed.

I have two dislikes one is the ghosting. It seems really prevalent in this Bible. I can really see the shadows on each page. This is also a hefty Bible that would be most likely suited for home use rather than lugging it around. Then again this might not be a problem for guys who don’t have purses, diaper bags, and other supplies we ladies tend to carry around when we go out.

In the back of the Bible you have a Key Verse Guide that has the scripture address along with the scripture verse. A Genre Guide, The Apostles’ Creed, A Yearly Reading Plan broken down my months, Topical Index, and Table of Weights and Measures.

This is a really neat and amazing Bible despite my two dislikes. Honestly I could overlook those with this Bible.

I received a free copy of this product from FrontGate Blogger Network in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor was I compensated in any other way. All opinions I have expressed are my own or those of my family. I am disclosing this information accordance with the FTC Regulations.

The "CSB He Reads Truth Bible" is here and it is a joy to hold. This Bible is designed to draw the reader in — in to the Word. The aim of “He Reads Truth” is for men to read the Bible daily.

The "He Reads Truth Bible" is presented in a minimalist and clean way. There are study tools and organizational helps embedded throughout, but they don’t take pride of place over the scripture text itself. White space abounds (wide margins and lots of room around the graphs, lists and study helps) and is available for personal note-taking or to keep things clear. The maps and timelines have an artsy, almost blueprint-type feel. The lists and mini-articles are clear and to-the-point. The grouping of the books that make up the Bible is emphasized by a color-coding according to type/genre (although the genre is quite generic and at the book level, and I don’t know why the Major and Minor Prophets have a different color when their description only differs by one word). I also appreciated the cloth-like cover provided for the hardbound version I have, as well as its two ribbons (for marking where you are reading).

The most useful features of this Bible are the key verses (one for each book of the Bible), and the reading plans. The key verse is found at the beginning of each biblical book and is artistically represented (calligraphy highlights the key message of the verse). The 66 verses are also helpfully collected at the end of the Bible. As for the reading plans, I appreciate how each book has its own (undated) plan that is supplemented with readings from other parts of Scripture, because "The Bible is a complete work in which many stories combine to tell one story…. the additional passages [help you] to discover how the whole of Scripture works together" (from the "Read and Understand" section of each book of the Bible). There is also a whole-year (dated) Bible reading plan at the end (Robert Murray M'Cheyne's classic plan).

The translation used is the Christian Standard Bible (CSB): an evangelical translation that aims to make God’s Word understandable through an "optimally equivalent" translation (roughly standing between the looser paraphrase style of the New Living Translation, and the rough literal translation of the New American Standard Bible).

I am looking forward to using the "He Reads Truth Bible" in the future, and encouraging others to give it a try. May the format and design be a help to bring others into a more regular reading of God’s Word!

The He Reads Truth Bible uses the Christian Standard Bible(CSB). If you are not familiar with this version, it is a highly reliable and easily readable text(much like the ESV). It stays as literal as possible to the Bible's original meaning without sacrificing clarity. So it is very readable to today's reader.
If picking up a Bible and just reading it seems a bit intimidating to you, don't skip the How to Read the Bible section. It will help ease you into the reading by giving you tips on how to approach God's Word, how to understand God's Word, and how to prayerfully read it and to apply it. So helpful!

Features: 66 hand-lettered key verses
126 infographics (including charts, lists, and illustrations)
17 full-color timelines
21 full-color maps
Reading plans for every book of the Bible
One-year Bible reading plan
Detailed book introductions and outlines
Key verse list
2 colored ribbon markers
Smyth-sewn binding
Wide margins for journaling and note-taking
Color-coded by genre
Bible Serif typeface designed for optimal Bible reading

I love that these are not all features stuck at the back of the Bible as some do, making you flip back and forth as you are reading. No. These features are placed throughout the text, where they are relevant to what you are reading. Which really brings the scripture to life as you begin to make connections that might be missed otherwise.
But I think the feature I love most is that it gives a reading plan mapped out at the beginning of each book of the Bible which includes relevant supplemental passages from other parts of God's Word.

Scripture itself is the best interpreter of Scripture with the help and leading of the Holy Spirit. This reading plan will help you apply this method of interpretation. I love this so much!

There are so many great features in this Bible it makes me want to get one for myself, but I'm a girl so...
I think I'll look into the She Reads Truth Bible to see how that one compares. (you can read the entire review with photos and links here: gayidle.com) I received a copy of this Bible as a member of the Lev3L blogging team. #HeReadsTruthL3

How many men actually read their Bibles? It is not only the pastors, preachers, and teachers who are called to read the Word. All men are responsible to know and proclaim God’s Word in their lives.

Help to Read

This Bible was made to help you read. The CSB translation is perfect for this purpose. It was developed to be readable and reliable. It captures the Bible’s original meaning without sacrificing clarity.

The He Reads Truth Bible comes with curated reading plans for every book of the Bible, a one-year Bible reading plan, detailed book introductions and outlines, and a key verse list. Two ribbon bookmarks are included for a better reading experience.

Help to Understand

This Bible is huge. The pages are thin, so seeing through pages might be distracting for some. The trade-off is a feature-rich Bible filled with 150 full-color charts, timelines, maps, and infographics. I especially loved the infographics which made learning engaging and enjoyable.

I was provided with the charcoal cloth over board version. The Bible is not as heavy as it looks and it is a pleasure to hold. It also lays flat thanks to the Smyth-sewn binding so you can take notes in the wide page margins.

Reading Truth

This is a Bible that is begging to be read. The He Reads Truth Bible is a helpful tool to move our men to read God’s Word. I recommend it for those who are dry in their devotional life. The Scripture will be a well of Living Water.

If you are looking for a new Bible for yourself or a special man in your life, I definitely recommend the CSB He Reads Truth Bible! There are timelines, background history, reading plans, key verses, and maps. If you are a note-taker, the wide margins will please you. The additional features included invite you to dig deeper into God's Word and develop a greater understanding of what was happening and how the stories may connect in other books of the Bible.

The only 2 problems I had are not going to be an issue for most. The print was a little smaller than I prefer, but it's a personal preference. Each page can be easily read for most people. The other difficulty for me is that the book weighs 3.90 lbs. I could hold it in my hand to read, but it was a bit heavy. (Of course, if it had larger print, that would have meant more pages and added weight.)

The good, however, far outweigh the things that I had slight problems with, though. It's an excellent study Bible that will hold together through years of use. It would also make an outstanding FATHER'S DAY GIFT!

Many thanks to LEV3L Digital and He Reads Truth for providing a copy to review!

I have owned and/or read a good many bibles in my long journey with God. I have also checked out quite a selection of translations as well. That said, the CSB He Reads Truth Bible is, in my opinion, the best Bible on the market today.

For those who care CSB is a little more thought for thought than word for word. Each beginning of a book has some key information and breakdowns which others have as well. A neat thing they do differently is they highlight what they consider the key verse of the book.

Maps and charts are found throughout and said charts go into great detail. For those who, like me, are note takers the margins are wide enough to crank out plenty of notes per page. Also sticky notes don't seem to mess with the pages either.

I would recommend this Bible to anyone who is serious about their Bible study time. You would not at all find yourself regretting your investment. I have owned mine since 2020 and have come to use it exclusively.

This one is fine. I like the aesthetics and overall feel, but it's in already an over saturated market. It doesn't do anything to standout from other study bibles, and it doesn't do anything better either.
