The radically changing nature of WORK, WORKERS & WORKPLACES

Rate this book
Humans are wired to follow the path of least resistance. If one doesn't have to do something, he or she will not do it. Technology has enabled humans to work from coffee shops and from home, reducing the need to go to work. The very meaning of work has changed for modern day workers where the workplace is no more a physical space. The new workplace is a blended space of the physical and the digital.

The subconscious mind is like cruise control for humans and shapes behavior. The environment that one is in conditions the mind. At work, the workplace environment conditions quality of thinking. For organizations in a collaboration economy today, productivity depends on the quality of thinking, and not so much on efficiency. The blended workplace is the starting point of innovation for organizations that believe in innovation.

Parthajeet Sarma delves into psychology, human evolution and science to draw connections with greatly changed expectations from work. In his third book, Parthajeet espouses the need for management to get out of codified theories. This facilitates a macro view, leading to a radical new meaning of work, workers and workplaces that is aligned with the organization's vision for the future.

This book is an attempt to identify work, workers & workplaces. In the changing times, the nature of work has been changing and so changes its requirements. Each work has a unique factor in itself and needs to have a specific kind of workplace. The book talks at a stretch about driving innovation at the workplace using space.

The book is divided into three sections which kickstart with what changing of space means? The author mentions how technology could be the integrator and must not be applied blindly. He emphasizes Technology can only aid business processes if its application is relevant in given context and it is integrated with the organization's vision.

The author then extends the discussion to why altering space is crucial. He rests his case on a collaborative and open workplace according to human psyche and gender. Each one of us has a different sort of creativity and thus should be provided with an environment which is conducive for our growth and performance. And then he furthers his point to how can we deal with the radically changing nature of work, workers & workplaces. The deliberation focusses on the importance of distraction and sleeping in stimulating the creativity.  We need technological innovations, co-working spaces, and new products & services. We need to redesign our workplaces according to the nature of our work. Thus, the book is a think tank which makes the reader ponder over vital aspects of working in a professional environment.

Being a non-fiction book, it is difficult for every reader to strike a chord with it. Moreover, the book is more suitable for people belonging to the working class. However, to gain an insight into the importance of innovation at workplaces this book could be read. The language is simple and comprehensible. The points covered were nice along with an explanation to substantiate them. In all, the book is good for people who love to delve in human psychology to bring more visible performance at the workplace.

A practical guide about the evolution in the corporate world. Many aspects related to work, workers and workplaces are covered by the author. With advancement in technology many changes are being incorporated in the work culture. The flexibility with workspace is now available. The workers can access their data and work from anywhere at anytime.

The topics covered in this book are undeniably important in today's time as the corporate sector is in bloom also many people are starting out as freelancers. Your workplace highly contributes to your creativity and productivity. Because of which many corporate are providing their staff with good work environment and facilities like gym, yoga, recreations, nap breaks. These all efforts give the workers their own space to creativity, comfort and innovation.

The book is divided into 3 sections:

Section 1: How work places are evolving and woke of technology in this.

Section 2: Why this change or evolution important?

Section 3: How do we keep up with this change?

Out of the above I liked section 2 where the author has explained the importance of work and personal life balance. Also how exercise, space evolution, distraction all these improve the creativity and productivity of the workers.

Along with this one more important point that the author has stated is about the HR policies. HR policies have been changing around the world. The author has stated it's effects on the workplace design and work environment . The book explains how the five senses are connected to worker productivity and how a workplace influences these indirectly impacting their performance.

The ideas are put up in a very simple way. There are illustrations and statistical figures backing up every topic which help us understand the author's point better.

The title of the book is apt and up-to the mark and also the cover gives us a glimpse into the book.

Overall it's a great read.

Recommended to all the people interested in understanding corporate culture better specially budding entrepreneurs and start-ups.

‘Work, Workers & Workplaces’ by Parthajeet Sarma shows work, workers & workplaces have evolved over a period of time and how psychology, human evolution and science has an important place in making these drastic changes. We also get to see the role technology plays in advancement of a society, workplace. Basically, technology has been the pivotal part in our society since many years.

The book is divided into three Sections:

Part 1: Briefing the changing nature of work: The definition of work has changed drastically, earlier work used to involve work which was repetitive and not involving creativity but with the introduction of computers at workplaces employees/workforce have to put much emphasis on the creative part as the manual/routine work is mostly handled by computers. Technology has brought about a tremendous change in today’s social media, innovation is the key word, and there is a major shift in services sectors. Now a day, social media is also looked upon for hiring potential candidates/workforce.

Part 2: Why it is important for work spaces to change in line: For a business to grow it is mandatory for the company to adapt to the technological advancement. Companies are slowly being transformed from physical workplace to virtual workplace where people can work from anywhere. We also get to see how perspectives change and how people were first adamant at using HDTV and how it took nearly thirty years to be accepted by people whereas other technology get easily adopted by people. We also get to see how businesses today are looking to automate all the processes and they don’t want to invest in getting people do the repetitive work, which can be handled by machines and people are looked upon for tasks which machines cannot do.

Part 3: How this change can be implemented at work seamlessly: The question that we need to answer is ‘How do we do it?’ The author tells us how working spaces have changed from a fixed place of work to coffee shops, restaurants, airports and how it is easy to work with the digitalization that has come around due to mobile, free Wi-Fi available at the coffee shops, restaurants, etc. We get to see the two broad factors that are influencing change in people’s lives, the first being technology and the second our social changes. IN short, the author tells us that we should try to keep the workplace relevant and use that as a starting point of innovation .

My Thoughts:
Overall, we get to see how technology has enabled humans to work from coffee shops and also from home hence reducing the need to go to work. The book is filled with great ideas and approaches for understanding how the workplaces actually work and have undergone changes. The book title has been aptly kept; readers will actually get to see how work, workers & workplaces have radically changed. To know more, read Work, Workers & Workplaces.

The book describes every aspect of work life that we experience in day to day life. A balance of work life coordinate with entertainment and relaxation. The author has focused on different individuals you meet at work, as well as the work environment influencing the employees. There are illustrations and examples added in the chapters to explain the scenario of the corporate world. The world of business is made with employee and work stations. Yes, work stations are places you live all your life and retire from some. It is great experience described in the book, focusing on the critical aspects of employee benefits, work culture and recreation. The best thing described by the author is about the paradigm shift in our work culture. Yes, the meaning of going to cafes and coffee shops have changed. Now, they are flocked by the clients sipping coffee and discussing projects. "Starbucks is really about collaboration with humans and machines." The technology has been simpflied with applications such as Uber, 3D printing technology and high speed Wi-fi. The plot describes about the work life and personal life are integrated today. The innovative work places have driven business plans and projects in recent times. I believe there is alot of learn about the co-working space and change work culture from this book.

IF I COULD REVIEW IT IN A SINGLE LINE: I’d say if you are in the corporate, desk job or freelancing industry; have a go at it.
THE BLURB:

THE REVIEW:
Non fiction books are rarely the read of the hour by many out there but I have recently started putting a lot of light and a rather more objective outlook into them since it is the need of the hour. In a country like ours where every person out there wants their son, daughter to be an enginner or doctor where does the potential of creativity and one’s love for work lie.
Parthajeet Sarma has tried his marvelous hand to jot down the regard points in this, leading us to ask a vital question of what is the importance of your workplace to your work. The author notes down his experiences, his ideals and thoughts and gives us simple example to straight out point his view of the same. He compares us to artists gawking or saluting our work from a distance or a rather distant prospective and admiring or criticizing our work from the change.
To stress out a point of where 10 years back the entirety of situation and the monotony lay in the fact that 9 to 5 jobs in a brightly lit yet gloomy office room bear down the individuals, and now that has been replaced by creative, comfortable, beautiful, sharply lit and yet unequivocally designed offices with a premises that the worker wants to go back to his office on a Monday morning blue and be there for till evening.
A beautiful glass top desk, some immpeceably organized stationarity, a comfortable lumar nirwana chair is all that the corporate life askes to work with a taste and a dedication that is required to do the best. More and more people realizing that an afternoon nap, a casual Friday dress schedule and play room to blow off the steam within the work premises is very importable and rather welcomed.
The first part focuses on the monotony, the need of wielding technology to our advantage at our work place; the second is about how there is modernization that needs to be talked and welcomed; the third is about how we need to change our prospective and with that our outlook and at last our surroundings.
The book is an eye opener and a very challenging read, a must for the corporate and the freelancing industry. Being a doctor I hardly had anything to take away from the book so that’s a lacunae there. The book is a pretty short read, yet very bold outlook.
I’d say if you are in the corporate, desk job or freelancing industry; have a go at it.

So here's another spree of long due reviews.

The Radically Changing Nature of Work, Workers and Workplaces.
Parthajeet Sarma.
2018. Pp- 88.

"Space as a starting point of innovation."

Parthajeet Sarma presents a well versed, well accumulated and a crisp analysis of the changing nature of modern day work and work spaces, and the corresponding changes it brings in the lives of employees. He shares not just his opinion, but practical and applicable advice to deal with the present day scenario.

The book talks about what is that needs to be talked about, why is it important to talk about it and how to deal with it, in its respective sections.

The book is well segregated, and has a flow, that is, it does not skip to portions and chooses to build up an understanding with the reader instead.

Also, being a Psychology major myself, I liked the integration of examples from psychological studies, which gives even more credibility to the author’s discussion. All these graduation and post graduation years, I’ve read about chapters and chapters on problem solving and decision making. It is in a very long time that I’ve seen the application of social psychology. Drawing analogies between the working of incentives and rewards and social psychology experiments like the candle problem inspires the new age employers and employees.

It also acknowledges the need to find the correct balance better work life and life. The acknowledgement of the fact that this balance can be achieved also in the office walls can be seen. The author stresses the important role play, distraction and exercise can play on our work efficiency.

The illustrations, and the use of day to day exams help the readers better grasp the ideas promoted. And what I like about this part is that these examples are from the author’s own life. They are not some hypothetical, or theoretical ones, ready to be lectured on to people; rather, they’re simple, and applicable. My personal favourite is the one where the author loses (or he think he has) his passport in a foreign country and how after a distraction it comes to him. We call it the ‘Aha effect’ in psychology and I’ve never heard a better example than this one here.

It is not just acknowledgment of issues and challenges facing the modern day work lifestyle that I liked, but also the approach taken around it. The issues might seem miniscule, but they have a potential to grow into larger cracks in the system. And despite this vulnerable tenancy, the author seeks a calm approach, giving out smaller and easily doable ways of change.

Change is important. To identify the need to change, however, is a much bigger step than knowing why or how to go about it.

The Radically Changing Nature of Work, Workers and Workplaces is a comprehensive and commendable non-fiction in all regards and I cannot think of a single way to improvise. I give it a 5 on 5, for its relevance and practically.

This book speaks about the changing scenario of workplaces, the power of workplace for creativity and inspiration and why is it so important and finally explains how to bring about the desired change in the workplace according to individual desires and requirements completely backed by research based facts and proofs. The author has dealt with this topic in detail wherever possible and required.

There were a few egs i liked like the candle problem experiment. many facts revealed in the book were enlightening. i never viewed this topic in this perspective. It never occurred to me that this much importance is given to the design of workplace or the location of the workplace to make an employee to look forward to work or to boost their creativity which in turn benefits the employers or the company at large, many scientific facts or the company research based stuff mentioned in the book was interesting. In fact my thinking has changed towards workplace.

I liked how the author has explained that incentisizing people to do motivate them actually does the opposite wherein creativity is blocked. He also Clarified that incentisizing employees works but only in specific kind of situations.

A co-working space is on trend nowadays you can see many websites in internet where co-working spaces are rented online complete with pictures, location and other details, I even got a request from one such website to feature in my blog. The author has given quite a lot information on this trend.

A topic on happiness equilibrium, how to keep employees content and happy for long time, what works and what doesn’t….really piqued up my interest as its obviously is directly related to a majority number of working class like many of us. Honestly i really liked the author’s view on it as like always its backed by enough facts and proofs. He actually took a personal example from his own life like dealing with two young daughters when they ask for something big or small.

This book isn’t for a wide range of readers, though such books do increase your awareness around things you thought you were not concerned about, it widens your perspective and outlook. You can give it a go if you want to increase your grey cells or if you are an entrepreneur or someone who can make an impact with such kind of information. Its always good to have readymade handout on things connected to your field.

This is a nonfiction book written by Parthajeet Sarma, it’s all about how important a work place is to an individual to ensure maximum productivity and how much profitable it is in the long run for the company.
It is a short book detailing various aspects and how much importance nowadays modern companies are giving to their employees and their environment so that they retain their staff, makes sure they are happy and that there is a human connection between an employee and a boss.
The author explains the difference in the workings of the companies by conventional methods and modern methods and how one need to adapt to the newer ways to attract employees and get more than 100 percent from them.
For example, initially it used to be the boring 9 to 5 kind of jobs, where people used to sit in front of their computers and keep on feeding data, but now, with modern technology, the feeding is done by the machines and the workers are getting their roles more in the creative aspects of the jobs. This makes their work less boring, more interesting and the environment which they are being offered is bean bags, work from home facility, gym, yoga room in the office, and also the author clarifies that it is not enough to provide these facilities alone, but the higher management needs to encourage their workers to go and use them as well during office hours. They have now realised that a short nap after lunch or a session of table tennis makes their employee more productive and sharp.
These and many more suggestions and advice form the major portion of the book.
The book is divided into 3 clear sections namely, What is it all about, Why it is important and lastly How do we do it?

The first section explains what exactly is the problem or perhaps how modern technology has invaded our workplaces and the work environment in general and what can we do about it to use it to our advantage.

The second section explains as to why do we need to adapt to modern ways, what are its benefits, how it would work wonders to our productivity level, how a little cost would ensure profits in the long run.

The third section shows us the way in which we need to go ahead and provide cooler, smarter workplaces which would in effect boost employee morale and benefit the company in terms of staff retention, best pool of quality employees, motivated team spirit and overall happiness in the work culture.

The book is written in a simple, easy to understand language without any difficult vocabulary.
The book is a short read, could be easily finished in one or two go’s. This is one book every employee of the corporate sector would love to gift it to their boss! And the boss would love to read it too, since it might just make his company more profitable and employees more productive in the long run!

If you have walked into a new age start up or technology company and wondered about the office setup, this is the book to turn to as it gives great insight into what goes into modern workplace design.

The book explains how office space can influence its workers productivity, help in innovation and in working better. While the basic idea of work space improving workers efficiency sounds ambitious, the author with his vast experience in business transformation explains how this can be brought to reality.

The book is divided into three parts — Part1 briefing the changing nature of work and Part2 — why it is important for workspaces to change inline and Part3 — how this change can be implemented seamlessly.

The author explains the evolution of work places over the years and how factories and rows of workstations gave way to workers working from even coffee shops. The author provides examples and case studies that support the new age design changes in workplaces. The book also explains how replacing conventional workplaces helped employees of various industries to indulge in innovative work, leaving the redundant tasks to machines.

The book further delves on how HR policies have been changing around the world, and what that means to workplace design. The book explains how the five senses are connected to worker productivity and how a workplace influences these indirectly impacting their performance. There are play areas, fitness stations, creative zones created in these new-age workplaces which boost worker’s health and entertainment.

The book in the final part explains on social and technology influencers and how they play a major role in workplace design. The author also proposes the tried-and-tested three step method comprising exploratory lab, concept development and design development and how organizations generally miss the first two steps, and hence falter in arriving at the best design for their workplace.

Overall, the book has good insights on the topic backed by scientific research. A must read for entrepreneurs, especially organizations which are looking forward to making their workplaces more engaging and attractive for their workers.

This business management book focuses on how the workplace environment is changing with the ever-changing world, and how workers and the work they do are changing as well.

The book is divided into three sections: Section 1 highlighting the various evolving aspects of work and workplaces, Section 2 why this evolution and change is important and Section 3 how to bring about this change.

Section 1: The author has touched upon an important point that all workers are different and they find comfort in different kind of settings. So companies now can't make an ideal working space (of let's say a cubicle) and call it a workplace. And it is quite visible if we look at the workplaces of top organizations - they are homely and have various comforts to boost creativity including bean bags, gym, gaming zone, cafe, day-care centres etc. The book shows the impact of games, exercise, sleeping at work etc. on the output of workers.

Section 2: When it comes to workplaces, the book has explained the evolution of work places and how it has effected the creativity of individuals. It also shows how proximity to nature and sunlight helps the brain to function better, thus emphasizing that organizations need to embrace human psychology and the five senses while designing workplaces.

The book explains how blind application of technology can prove to be disastrous instead of a boon to the organization. Companies need to see how fit/relevant the technology is to the firm' vision.

The author has illustrated various studies and experiments to make his points. I personally like the illustration of 'carrot and stick' approach which is used by organizations and how it effects creativity of the employees.

Section 3: To bring about a change, technology and social influencers have been playing a major role. The author also encourages to ask the right questions on how to motivate workers, make people happy, etc. This will help the organization to be aligned to its future vision.

The book is short and well written; and I have learned a lot from it.

The best part about it is that the book succeeded in maintaining my interest till the end. It has provided various practical examples to prove the various points that were made throughout.

I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone, given that we all are, or will be a part of the corporate world.

Work, Workers and Workplaces is a non fiction book penned by Chevening scholar, award winning innovator and entrepreneur Parthajeet Sarma. This book is divided into three sections.

Section 1 talks about what is Blended physical and digital work space and how changing nature of work and workers due to massive technological changes raise the need for blended work spaces.

Section 2 deals with importance of identifying the organisations and employees who would be most suitable to work in such blended workspaces and how it would positively impact their performance at work.

Finally section 3 helps in providing a few pointers and suggestions on how such work places can be integrated into current organisations.

This book provides an insight into how technological innovations and ease of communication have impacted the traditional work places. Author also comments on how Carrot and Stick approach of twentieth century are obsolete and in order to have the creative juices of workers flowing and keep them constantly motivated, there is a need to have a workplace which stimulate their creativity and give them an environment which is conducive to collaboration.

It is a very forward thinking book and being from a business academic background, it is very interesting to see the commentary on management theories of twentieth century and how they are no longer effective in bringing niche to workplace.

It is not a very long read and very too the point. Despite that it took me a long time to finish since author have packed in a lot of information to digest in 88 pages. Many compelling examples and various studies which help understand the human behavior. This helps to find effective solutions to problems faced at the work place.

This book is not for an average reader but for someone who specifically is looking to understand the psychology of the workers and work places and various factors that come into play in terms of the performance.

It is highly recommended for corporate leaders and entrepreneurs of startups who would find it extremely relevant to their day to day business.

Since we are in the era in which all the monochromatic redundant work or tasks are performed efficiently by machines and softwares, kind of work left for humans, which technology can not do, is work requiring innovation and technology.

For using the work space as a starting point of innovation, Author Parthjeet Sarma has explained and suggested the need for change and what kind of change an industry can incorporate. And how if one is not changing workplace in sync with the changing nature of the work, an industry can incur loss and may miss out on much underlying potential of its workers.

The book makes its way into reader's finer understanding in consecutive three sections, explaining: What Is It All About? , Why Is It Important and How Do We Do It?

You will find in Chapter 2, where author is explaining importance & significance, that the "most organizations featured on the annual ' World's Best Workplaces' list also happen to be top performers in stock markets. Interior decor is no longer a thing of ornamental or status quotient, but a psychologically framed and painted design which will induce happiness and anti-stress vibes for worker's subconscious and conscious minds to be open and enhanced to produce innovative ideas.

Looking at the relation between the work, workers and workplaces from a macro viewpoint, book puts forth the obvious yet overlooked factors and parameters which, considering today's creativity based work requirements, are proved to influence the innovative productivity from the workers. These factors like including gaming area, sports area(basketball rings, table tennis, etc), gym, yoga room, nap time area(where individual can nap for specific minutes and wake up more active and refreshed), etc., break the monotony of the work life where worker is dreaded to go to work and add a positive inviting vibe to the workplace where worker is looking forward to spending most of the time in office creating his best works!

Felt relevant to the anthropological and technological evolution. Felt like I must gift this to my entrepreneur friends and bosses! Very helpful!

“The Radically Changing Nature of Work, Workers and Workplaces” takes a peek in the workspace of the future. Parthajeet Sarma’s book asserts that work as we know it is undergoing a massive change and redefinition. Its future is very different. “Walk into a Starbucks and it is not surprising to see more laptops than coffee mugs on the table,” writes Parthajeet Sarma in the introduction. With a smartphone in the hand or a laptop by your side, you can virtually work from anywhere. What does this mean for the traditional office then?
The book analyses the obvious reasons such as evolution of new technologies and so on as factors that spear a series of other changes. It is also futuristic in a sense. It reflects the notion of a new workspace - the blended workspace of the future.
The book is divided into three sections. The first describes what blended workspaces actually entail. The second section discusses the importance of a workplace. The third section discusses the practicalities of using space as the starting point for innovation. Sarma draws from various experiments in the realm of psychology and social sciences in order to support and explain some of the concepts that he purports. This abundance of experimental studies and their applications and implications for work productivity and workspace design holds important inputs for the modern workforce.
Anyone who works in today’s environment has sensed the changes that are slowly but surely creeping into our lives. This book will give an insight to established businesses about how work and working are changing and what this means for workspaces and organisations.

The world is now run by innovators and creative people. Corporate is trying to evolve into a place that fosters better thinking and better experience for an employee, more than just a fat pay check at the end of every month.

This is the evolution the writer talks about in this book. He begins to describe how beautifully designed places foster innovation and where doing it, but not doing it right, can go terribly wrong. He begins with the history of replacing the assembly line, to cubicles to open co-working spaces, each with their advantage and dis-advantages. He describes case studies wherein changes in the workplace or approach to problem solving has led to better solution and emphasizes the need for better designed workplaces for optimum productivity.

The book spoke to me personally as I love doing the reading and blogging part of my job in cafes. I hunt for ones with different ambiance to cheer up my mood after a stress free work week. Its like my mini break, reading, coffee and good ambiance. I read this book in a Starbucks at the Delhi airport and I am writing the review while in another coffee shop, there cannot be an evidence of wanting a good ambiance, better than this one.

The first book in its niche, it is a not to miss read for business owners or people wanting to become one. Highly recommended.

Work, Workers & Workplaces' by Parthajeet Sarma is an excellent book which gives the readers an idea of the radically changing nature of work, workers and workplaces using space as a starting point of innovation.

The advancement of technology in the modern times is taking place in leaps and bounds. Everything around us is changing. And so is work, workers and workplaces. Technology has enabled humans to work from coffee shops and from home, reducing the need to go to work. The very meaning of work has changed for modern-day workers where the workplace is no more a physical space. In the modern world, the workplace is an amalgamation of physical and digital.

The author has used real-life situations as examples. This has made the book very easy to comprehend and also very interesting. The theme of this book is very relevant. I liked the fact that how the book focuses on the need to have a comfortable working environment. I feel this is indeed absolutely necessary to have a suitable working environment for better focus and improvement in work.

Overall, 'Work, Workers & Workplaces' is an interesting read. It is a very easy, simple read and not very lengthy, hence, can be read within a few hours. You can give this book a read if you like reading non-fiction books.

We all spend a remarkable amount of our time either in our home or at our office. And if you analyze it properly you will find the most of our active hours are spent at the office (or at the work) rather than the home!

All of us wants to keep the environment around us quite happy and influencing. The dull surrounding makes us dull and eventually it affects not only our professional but even personal life as well.

The work, workplaces and work environment is changed a lot during the last few decades, especially with the rise of IT industry. The affordable and available high-speed Internet worked like a charm for many, and in fact, the way we do the business is changed a lot.

Why are we talking about these changes happened in the way we live and work now?

Well, we came to know about the book by Parthajeet Sarma, the author of the same. He wanted us to read the book and provide our genuine and unbiased review of the book and here it is, uninfluenced and unbiased as always.

Writing a kind of how-to book is not an easy thing. The author, however, tried to make it interesting by weaving some of the real-life incidents and experiences into each segment. Most of the readers from the current generation, especially those who are working in an industry where the technology plays a significant role, will be able to connect with it quite easily.

The way, the author has incorporated some facts and happenings from recent history is also interesting to read. Being a management professional and reading many books on the topic, the author talks about various analytical techniques like “Candle problem experiment”.

The author tries balancing the things. For example, while working-from-home employee is useful in some type of business, it is not possible to allow them working from home in some other types of business. So, one cannot follow a thumb rule, by considering it the same for all. One needs to get the things evaluated properly before making a decision.

Of course, the author works as a professional in the industry where he provides consultancy and solutions for workplaces to the business, the book is written from that perspective. But, on the whole, it is a genuine attempt to provide significant information about the topic.

Summary:
A little pricey, small book that contains a summarized analysis of the changing nature of work. It is for those who look for some meaningful read and not for the time pass reading. You will find this book interesting only if you are curious to know more about the topic.

Work Workers and workplaces by Parthjeet sarma
This book is written around two years before but talked very apt according to today's scenario. Content is suitable for all business houses specifically for start up businesses.
The idea which author shared is very intresting and motivating and i totally agree with him. We often saw business meetings among entrepreneurs and executives are happening in coffee shops,Walk into a Starbucks and it is not surprising to see more laptops than coffee mugs on the tables. This is the new trend like sharing workplaces which is very economical and we can share resources too in the same premises. The flexibility of choosing the type of space, the duration flexibility and the relatively low cost for the space, has made co-working spaces very popular. Author also talked about HR policies and Body-Brain Performance if the brain is performing at full capacity, one can focus, concentrate, and make better decisions, all essential if creative and innovation are desired outcomes.
A wonderful book for corporates and businessman.
