The summer season is in full swing, and right in the middle of one of the summer tours of the lighthouse, a stranger comes in claiming he actually owns it. Priscilla investigates.
A visitor comes to the lighthouse tour with a deed he says shows the land the lighthouse is on is his. Priscilla is sure that isn’t true and gets a lawyer. She can’t wait for the lawyer and starts looking into old records, deeds and going around town to people that might remember hearing about the lighthouse 100 years ago.
This was a very cute book part of the mysteries of Martha’s Vineyard series. I believe these are different authors published by Guideposts Priscilla owns/runs the lighthouse museum that she inherited from her aunt. When suddenly she is confronted by a man claiming the land under the lighthouse is actually owned by his family. This sets in motion a string of events with an unexpected ending. Library book for a bingo challenge.
This is book 12 in the Mysteries of Martha's Vineyard series. A fun series to read. In this one, a man shows up at the lighthouse Priscilla owns and claims she is a squatter and the land belongs to his family. He has a deed and it looks official, but of course Priscilla isn't just going to hand over the lighthouse to him. And is that what he wants? And so the story starts as Priscilla and her family and friends try to find out what the truth really is.
I like the way they are developing the relationship between Gerald, the Coast Guard Captain, and Priscilla. At the very beginning the author introduces a young couple who are friends of Rachel's, Priscilla's daughter. I wondered what their involvement would be, but they are never mentioned again, and Priscilla does not mention them to her daughter when she speaks to her. Not sure what the purpose of mentioning them was?
As summer on the vineyard comes to a slow end, things seem to be quiet for Priscilla. But not for long! One day, during a lighthouse tour, a man gets into Priscilla's face, shouting at her that she is a squatter on his family's land. Luckily Gerald is there to stand beside her, and together they get the story. The angry man is claiming that when the lighthouse was moved because of erosion, the lighthouse was moved to land owned by his ancestors. After a lot of research, it appears he is telling the truth. Will Priscilla become homeless? Great read, fun and fast.
Highly enjoyable read. Priscilla Latham Grant is back on the case. This time, the land her lighthouse sits on is threatened by a rival to her inheritance. Can she save the family history and family name before time runs out?
This was fast-paced, feel-good reading. The ending came a lot more quickly than I would have liked, but overall this was fun and just what I needed after some earlier heavy reading.
This mystery is that someone gives Priscilla the deed saying it is his land where the lighthouse is where she lives, so she has to find out if the deed is real or not?
