Maddison has a great job working in paradise. All she’s lacking is someone to share her life with. Except right now, she doesn’t really have time for romance…or so she tells herself. Until one phone call changes everything. Now she’s unemployed and living in her bestie’s spare bedroom.
Milo’s escaped a loveless marriage to a cheating wife and wants to soak up every ounce of knowledge about BDSM that he can absorb from his friends. Oh, and buy new furniture, since he doesn’t have any. He’ll probably never get married again. He doesn’t anticipate falling in love, but then again, he’s never met anyone like Maddison before.
With the Frightful Five’s blessings, Maddison finds herself drawn to the hunky, heartbroken guy, and things quickly heat up between them. But a rope scene isn’t a romance. When Maddison ends up fighting for her life, will Milo prove to her he’s her forever guy and the heart she’s always searched for?

SPOILER ALERT: THIS IS MILO AND MADDISON’S STORY. MADDISON IS INTRODUCED IN COURT AND SPARK (BOOK 79 OF THIS SERIES). WHILE IT’S NOT ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY TO READ COURT AND SPARK FIRST, IT’S HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. IF YOU HAVEN’T DONE SO, THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS.
Maddison’s life is nearly perfect. But is nearly good enough? Her job running a Miami resort is her life. Her bestie, Fen, and his husband, Joel, are her biggest cheerleaders. She’s survived trauma that would kill a lesser person, that’s made her so very cautious. Despite the long hours, loneliness, and longing for things she desperately needs, she knows she’s luckier than most. Then, without warning, the ground beneath her crumbles. Unemployed, again facing imminent danger, she ends up with Fen and Joel. What’s she to do? Finding a job, working on her MBA, sorting out her priorities. She can deal with that. But can she deal with her dreams? Can a person exist to fulfill her every need? When Fen comes up with a bold plan, Mads is NOT impressed. Enter Milo, baby Dom, recent divorcé, and a man who’s sworn off love in any form. Mads’ breathtaking beauty, charm, and snarky personality hit him like a lightning bolt. Mads is just as floored by her attraction to Milo. But both are broken in ways that may never heal. And both know it takes far more than mere attraction and BDSM for anything lasting. There’s just too much at stake. Can Mads let down her walls, even for someone like Milo? Is Milo capable of anything more than just BDSM play? As Milo’s history haunts him, Mads’ past comes roaring back with a vengeance, threatening not just her fledgling relationship with Milo but her entire life. Can either put the past in the past? Is it even worth trying? Or will their pasts destroy everything…shattering them both forever?
Tymber Dalton continues to break new ground with every book she writes. I can’t say anything more about the plot of this story without ruining it. But Mads and Milo are like no other characters Ms. Dalton’s written. Mads is full of contradictions. Her professional life is a huge success. Her personal life? That’s far more complicated. Intriguing doesn’t begin to cover who and how remarkable she is, how she’s survived. She’s a shattered soul, maybe beyond repair. Milo’s just as broken, but in different ways. He’s convinced he can never love again. That these two can connect in any way is unbelievable. BDSM seems the only possible connection for them. Yet Tymber Dalton takes these tiny threads and weaves them into such a compelling story. I love that I’m constantly learning new things from Ms. Dalton. Yes, I learn new aspects of BDSM in nearly every book. But I also learn about people’s ability to be on opposite ends of the spectrum. Hatred, prejudice, and intolerance are one side of the coin. Belief, acceptance, and unwavering trust are the other. This book shows both, and it’s riveting. This is a journey of expectations, new beginnings, and wonder. I can’t give it less than five stars. This book is an experience I’ll never forget!
A final note. This is an ADULT book. It contains explicit language and BDSM sexual scenes. If you don't enjoy this genre, this may not be the book for you. There are book synopses and reviews available on Goodreads and all booksellers' websites. Use these resources. DON'T LEAVE A NEGATIVE REVIEW WHEN YOU KNOW YOU WON'T ENJOY THE BOOK. It's not fair to the author. She works hard to provide a quality work product. If you know you'll object to a book's subject matter before you buy it, you're doing yourself and the author an extreme disservice.
Maddison is a transgender craving unconditional love. She is a successful business woman who runs a resort in Miami after bringing it from being in the red to an extremely successful place. She loses her job due to the owner of the resort selling it and the new company wants their own manager there. Milo has just come out of a disastrous marriage, where his ex cheated on him extensively and took half of his pension. Milo is talked into going to Venture to see if this could be something he could like. Plus, the Frightful Five has agreed to find him a woman. After all, they have a 100% success rate. He finds that he is fascinated by rope play. Maddison moves back to Sarasota and in with Fen and Joel. She is ready to go back to school and find a new job. She's also ready to go back to Venture, where she is encouraged to scene with Milo. Maddie agrees to do a rope scene with him and sparks ignite. This story brings us on a journey of two people trying to figure out love and keep their hearts from being broken. It shows vulnerability and courage. It is another great story by Ms Dalton and I can't wait for the next!
So I've been waiting for Maddison's story since I met her in Court and Spank! She loses her job due to the owner selling out and after being hit on by the person who is taking her job, she quits and moves in with Fen and Joel!! Have I mentioned how much I love Fen and Joel? Milo is coming out of a horrible divorce and doesn't think he'll ever get married again. He's interested in being a Dom and starts getting mentored by some of the Suncoast Society members. When he is set up with Maddison, he agrees to see her and then things just click! Maddison has to deal with being transgendered, having PTSD and panic attacks due to being attacked in her past. Can Milo and Maddison help and heal each other. An emergency with Maddison cements who Milo feels about her but then she is offered her old job back. I loved this book and well, I usually like anything that Tymber Dalton puts out. It's honest, it's raw and she doesn't hold anything back. Pick this up, it's really good!
Maddison's book is transgender, and this book tells her story. It runs from the emotional to the laugh out loud. Maddison is looking for her happy every after. She leaves her success full job running a resort, after the resorts owner sells. She ends up going back to school and living with her best friend and his husband. Hopeful to see more of Maddison in the future, I fell in love with her character.
I have been waiting for this book since reading Court and Spark! This is Maddison's story, Fen's best friend whom we were introduced to in the previous Suncoast Society book. She's a successful businesswoman who runs a resort in Miami. When this book begins, her life is being turned upside down. Though surprised and hurt, she tries to make the best of the situation. When it becomes untenable, she heads home to Sarasota and her bestie and his husband Joel's home. Milo has been in the background of several books in the series since he plays D&D with several members of the Suncoast Society. Fresh off his painful divorce, he tells his friends that he knows they're kinky, it doesn't bother him and he'd like some help in the dating department. Eliza, a member of the Frightful Five, takes him under her wing. Milo learns a lot about himself in the first two weeks of exploring BDSM. Then his friends introduce him to Maddison. She is intrigued by this newbie Dom and they quickly connect to one another. With their friends blessings, their relationship heats up quickly. But when the going gets tough, will Milo prove to be the man that Maddison has been searching for? A stellar addition to a fabulous series!
Maddison gets a shock when she finds out her boss has sold his company and she's going to be out of a job - well one thing leads to another and she's moving in with Joel and Fen - she meets Milo at dinner with the crew and let's just say it's off from there. The love expressed in this book touched my heart.
Go Mads!!!!! You go girl. Such a protective posse and yet she handles herself as an adult. Milo seems like a good guy, suprised that nothing more was heard from his ex. Such a different perspective with Mads being trans, I actually got more out of this story the second time around. Interesting to see what happens next.
Short and Sweet Review - This story really and truly is about love about two people who complete each other. What is important is only what they feel is important.
A great addition to this series. This is not the first book with a trans main character I have read. I have enjoyed them all. Each book has been with the person in a different stage of transition and acceptance. Tymber is the first author that gave her character a family that fully supported her and loved her unconditionally. Yes Maddison was bullied and survived a horrific attack because she is trans, but those were in her last and not the focus of this book. This was a romance between Milo and Maddison. Another win for the Frightful Five. I think I enjoyed this book so much because it focused on relationship between them. Books that tell of the hardships trans people endure are necessary. Just as important, I think, are books where being trans is treated the same as being recently divorced. Important for the couple to know about each other but not the sole focus. I loved this book. I hope we see more of Milo and Maddison along with bestie Fen and Joel.
Hang on to that hanky as Ms. Dalton ones again tugs at our heartstrings and brings forth an erotic romance with angst, rebound love and friends. Maddison is the kind of person I totally understand. She is running a resort and she is awesome at it. It may not pay as much as some of the high end resorts, but she gets to call shots. Plus she does have her own little room. If only she was closer to friends and could have a life. Be careful of what you wish for. . .

This is a great look inside the emotions of a transgender girl trying to live her life in today's world. Being accepted for who she is and not being treated like a freak or fetish has been hard. But thankfully she has great friends and when the time comes for her to move on she finally gets what she has always wanted. Tymber took great care writing this story, making sure we understood Maddison and her journey.
