Fae Witch Chronicles #5

Realms of Spells and Vampires

Rate this book
Unless I want a vampire for a sister, I better learn to trust one as a friend.

There I was thinking saving Faerie had been challenging. Compared to what I'm up against now, fighting with the rebels to topple the Seelie regime seems like a walk in the park. Who would have thought that realm-wide strife and the threat of supernatural invasion could sound like the good old days?

Everything can change in a day, as they say, and for me it sure as hell did. With my sister's life on the line for a magical crime she didn't commit, the clock is ticking loud and fast for me to save her. To clear her name, I need to unravel a mystery with so many knots that I'm not even sure where to start pulling. Do I choose the mysterious veil witch trying to kill us, the ruthless vampire seeking world domination, or the High Demon with the powers of a goddess? They're all involved somehow, and I'm willing to bet my old friend Vintain has a hand in this too. The problem being I don’t have the first idea what their game is. Still, it appears that what happens in Faerie, doesn’t stay in Faerie, or so I keep thinking. Then there’s the cherry on top of this little nightmare sundae: to sort this mess out I’ll have to partner up with a vampire. Just perfect, seeing as I'm magically predisposed to obliterate her and she has every reason to hate me. But I better make it work, because if I don’t turn things around soon I may end up with a vampire for a sister.

Again, I am always excited to read about these characters. It is a great story, but I'm either ready for longer books or shorter time between releases to get it moving along. The pace was a tad slow in this book, as I said I'm ready to get to the final showdown.

Love it!!

I absolutely loved this book and the entire Fae Witch series. It's captivating and a real page turner. Once I start reading one of these books I can't put it down. I love Cassie and all the adventures she has. I love that it takes me to another world. I can't wait to read the next book. I anxiously awaiting to see what's in store for Cassie, Autumn, Cade, Esra, Revlen, and the whole crew.

This series has really hit its stride with this book! They’re all wonderful, adventure-filled page turners, but in this one, the relationships between the characters goes just a bit deeper. Cassie’s sister, Autumn plays a larger role and the sister dynamic blossoms as Cassie fights to save her sister from what promises to be a brutal punishment for a crime she didn’t commit. There is more openness between them. Cassie also finally attempts to explain herself to Pheonix, creating more trust between them. Cassie is famous for her courage slaying external demons, but it’s the courage she finds to tackle some of her inner demons that stands out.
In a time in America when some are trying to segregate us into groups and deem some groups more valuable than others, it’s nice to read about friendships forming across boundaries of ‘type’ of people, (or creatures). The Shadow Order is a mix of many types of magical creatures coming together to overcome a darker force that attempts to restore too much power to one who has been known to abuse it and tear apart life as they know it. It resonates with real life and therefore makes it interesting!
The cliff-hanger is less intense than the previous book, thankfully! But I still can’t wait to find out what happens next! J.S. Malcom has a real gift for story telling! There is always a deep current of love, particularly of family, that flows through these books. The relationships, as much as the adventures, keep me coming back!

I have thoroughly enjoyed the prior books in J.S. Malcom’s Fae Witch Chronicles and was not surprisingly very happy when book 5, Realms of Spells and Vampires, came out. I’m not going to even try to summarize it as this is a ridiculously complex (even if easily understandable and totally fun) novel. For those who are as addicted to this series as me, you have cause to cheer as this book is as wonderful as its predecessors. For newcomers it’s still a fun tale that can sorta work as a stand-alone but really for the best results you’re best starting this series from its beginning, book 1, Realms of Ghosts and Magic. Now I will bottom line this as, but for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed, I could go on and on with praises - the book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, it is easy to highly recommend. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in this series.

Oh my goodness what a story. This story has has so much action, suspense, drama, mystery, and adventure in it. It keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire story. Cassie once again is going through so much but is still coming out strong and still showing what an amazing character she is. We get to see some of the previous characters in this one and meet some new characters that just add more depth to the story. We get to see Cassie grow as a witch in which it is fantastic to see. This is one fantastic series but you definitely need to read through the first 4 books to make sure you are not confused by the story. They are all fantastic and this is definitely worth reading where it doesn’t disappoint.

Wow, another fantastic book in a fantastic series. I really like how Cassie's character is developing in this book. She's starting to realize that things aren't always black or white and to look beyond her first impressions. Cassie and Autumn begin to develop a more honest relationship and bond more as equals instead staying in the big sister vs. little sister status quo. Even though so many story lines come together in this book there are still some loose threads hanging around to be resolved in the next one. This will always be a series at the top of my 'read immediately as soon as the next book becomes available' list.

Exciting and suspenseful book of magic and supernatural people.

Realms of Spells and Vampires continues Cassie the Fae Witch's story as she faces her most formidable for and races to save her sister's fate. This book is spellbinding and reels you in from the first page. I love books with a strong, snarky female lead. That describes Cassie to a "T." She rushes in to help and fights like shell to keep everyone, including those who used to be her natural enemy, safe. Her magic is almost as strong as her desire to help others. This book is fast-paced and full of magic, vampires, demons. A must read! You'll love it as much as I do!

Good continuation of story

So many questions just a few answers. Not a lot of proof because who really wants proof when you can pretend you have the knowledge without proof. No proof that Autumn is guilty other than the type of witch she is. Wait witches can open to other areas so who is to say its limited to just the 2 in the area. The trial was lame and Sara is an evil woman wanting to be all powerful or maybe she is the mage in disquise. Hmmmm ok well I'm because the story ended.

Another great book in this awesome series!

I love this and her Autumn series which are untwined and I always look forward to the next one in either series. This author has created such a gripping and captivating world full of paranormal that I feel like it’s real when I read the books. I love the relationships both loving and even the awkward!

I trudged through the last book but this one was great! The narrator did phenomenal. Cassie was annoying of course but you can’t deny her power. I just really wish her and Ezras would get it together (we’ll mainly her). My love for this series has be reignited

Please no love triangle!

I continue to enjoy this series by JS Malcolm. I docked it one star because of the hints of a possible love triangle.

Vintain is back. Autumn has been accused of murdering vampires, and Cassie’s life is never quiet!

Looking forward to book 6.
