A very good book! This is not your typical cocktail recipe book. If you've mastered the basics and are sick of the classics, get this. I love how this is very apothecary in nature, each ingredient is thought out, and I learned a lot in this book.
There's recipes for apetirifs, curatives, hot and cold weather healers, potent painkillers, digestives, hangover helpers, nightcaps, drinks and punches for parties, lots of recipes for unique syrups and more. Gorgeous pictures throughout, and a handy index based on ingredients in the back.

Warren likes Fernet, white whiskey, Robert Lewis Stevenson, and reminding you that alcohol was used to preserve herbs. While this book was interesting the descriptions got repetitive. By the end I was just skimming the ingredients lists. I did find one or two that looked good to try but unless you like to spend a lot of time and money making a cocktail or you enjoy reading about cocktail history you might want to skip this book.
