Charles Olson is one of those writers that you study, or just do not read. any help that you can get puzzling out Olson's idiosyncrasies is worthwhile. Byrd gives good footholds as one tries to make one's way into the great Olsonian perplexity. he is not overly mystified by Olson, which can be a problem amongst Olson's proselytes, but provides good insights.
