When Precious rents Cali and Mike's spare bedroom she's in the middle of a housing crisis and feeling betrayed by her best friend.
When Mike and Cali rent their spare room to Precious, their relationship is hanging on by a thread.
None of them expect anything more from their roommate situation than cheap rent in a prime location. So they're all surprised to find a deep well of affection and lust that makes them think that maybe their perfect relationship, and bed, has room for three.
Room for Three? is the first in a new series of erotic novellas about sexy entanglements behind closed doors.
Katrina is a seasoned spinster with an active imagination, a love of romcoms and a keenly critical nature. She's a college professor by day who writes romances by...weekend. Right now she also happens to be on summer vacation. She enjoys yogurt, sparkling water and her three cats, who don't appreciate her love.
CW: abandonment issues, trauma, intrusive thoughts, on page sex
Now this was a huge deal of fun while steal punching me in the feels repeatedly. Let's do a bullet point review because i'm too sleepy to get my brain to form coherent sentences.
- Roommates to lovers, where there's a couple -Mike and Cali- who get together with their roommate -Precious- (m/f/f). - The 8 months jump between the prologue and the first chapter was such a smart idea to give their connection time to deepen before they got together without wasting page space. - Loved the way Precious fit to perfectly with them, and felt like a missing piece instead of a third wheel. -So hot but also so soft and domestic. The way they all cared so deeply about and for each other made my heart ache. - The sex scenes? Whew boy. I had a blast with this one ngl. - Loved the mental health exploration through Cali's issues stemming from past psychological and emotional abuse from a parental figure. The way she went from lashing out and not knowing how to cope or how to stop her lashing out to realizing her issues, opening up, and healing slowly while still showing that healing isn't really linear. also A+ for good therapist rep.
Anyway read this book if you're looking for a short and sweet and smutty romance/erotica.
this was really good!!! though my only complaint was that we jump to 8 months after the characters meet so we don't see much of the pining but!! otherwise i reaaaaally loved it! highly recommend it for a very cute story and good smut, but especially a good story overall!! 💕
Trying to read more diverse reads and a poly where all three are together is certainly that. I also really needed a quick, short read since right now I'm swamped with grad school crap and can't read a long book.
I thought this was a good read but I definitely skimmed some stuff because it got boring at times.
Indulgent like a piece of cake you’d been staring at for a whole week until you get the guts to go get it. Maybe you don’t want to share it, but the cake was just... so good. Like, finger-licking good. Not in the KFC sense but you get the idea. Can’t wait to read more !
Room for Three was exactly what I wanted it to be if not more! Loved the dynamic between the three roommates and how each of them was a unique person in their relationship and brought something that balanced each other.
This is a delightful story about a young woman who becomes the roommate of an established couple. There is an instant attraction, but it progresses quite slowly. Everyone is beautiful - truly, they are models, but they're only slightly self-conscious about it. The couple is having some minor issues, but the third helps them see things differently. Everyone has some angsty issues from outside, and these are presented rationally. All three perspectives are presented, but there is no head-hopping.
Eventually they succumb to their lust, and it's sweet and sweaty, but not aggressive or kinky (other than being a menage). They are comfortable being naked around each other, and they find comfort in hugs and snuggles.
A longer book would probably delve more deeply into the resolution of the minor angsty bits, but I was happy to enjoy the HEA.
Sidebar: as a WASP, I really appreciated how the POC characters were presented. Reading this on my Kindle, I never saw the cover, so I didn't know that the women were Black, or the guy Asian, until half-way through. Kudos to the author for referencing important racial topics without making them major issues in the story.
Romance novellas are hard, especially when, as here, the author follows an entire relationship from "nice to meet you" to "let's stay together forever". Jackson does a better job than most by taking advantage of strategic time jumps to show how these roommates fall in love.
I wanted a little more, but the book ended up being just the thing on a day I had no idea what I wanted to read. Moving on to book two post haste.
I must admit that I love me some katjackon so its definitely no shocker that this read was beyond everything. One thing she don't play around with is those steamy, erotic and passionate love scenes and I'm always here for that. There's no teasing when it come to the explicit content of lovemaking in all her books and I can't get enough of her bringing out the freak in me by reading through these pages. Definitely five stars all the way and I can't wait for what's next
" Her entire relationship with Mike had exposed how little she knew how to be in a relationship, even with someone she loved desperately. "
this was delightful, well rounded solid characters working through their problems and coming together in a tentative way, all of them afraid of changing the beautiful relatioship they are building as roomates. I love that Cali is in therapy (yesss, let's normalise dealing with our trauma.) This was short but did what it set out to do, it didn't feel incomplete, I loved it.
A grad student moves in with two models after her friend breaks the lease on her old apartment. She finds life with her new roommates much better than she’d imagined. Banging like Energizer bunnies doesn’t hurt!
This was my first time reading a Katrina Jackson work. It was also my first time reading a poly romance. The premise of the story is a New Yok couple who are models look for a roommate and eventually the roommate becomes a third person in the relationship.
This novella has very steamy sex scenes. However, I was looking for more romance building before the sex commenced. Since this is my first time reading a multiple person relationship, I was generally curious about how the relationship develops.
An aspect of the novella I appreciated was the author putting content warnings at the beginning of the novella. Topics involving mental health and childhood abuse are discussed in the novella so the warnings are helpful for individual who are sensitive to these topics.
Overall, this was an enjoyable read. Romance/erotica readers who enjoy a well written sex scene will enjoy this novella.
I didn’t quite connect to this one the way I have with Jackson’s other books. It was enjoyable overall and definitely had a good amount of steam but felt disjointed in places. Or maybe I just wanted the characters to communicate about the shifts in their relationship way, way more than the actually did. However, I did really like how this explored Cali’s mental health and the role of her counselor. I’m always in favor of positive mental health portrayal!
CW: anxiety, past emotional abuse, food issues (two characters are models), microaggressions, side character involved in a relationship with her married professor and then dumped when it becomes public
It was ok good. I liked those characters individually and I found M & C difficulties interesting. Loved how we learned about M background and him not being the typical kind. This being a novella it was difficult to avoid the pitfalls of the genre but I am a bit disappointed about the insta attraction/lust/love thing. Them 3 being so gorgeous had me rolling my eyes a little. And that dark skinned black girl's swinging ponytail had me wondering about what kind of hair she had. But what bugged me most is how magically perfect the relationship evolved. I don't buy how P just perfectly fit, no adjustment were needed.
Mmmmm. Yes. I loved this a lot. I had a really good time reading it.
I definitely found the writing of this novella to be an improvement in comparison to From Scratch.
Although the characters in this didn’t know each other that well, or at least we didn’t really see enough of their relationship-building, it made sense in the context of this story because all of them were getting consumed by their anxiety and were failing to communicate. Because of that, I found this a much better story in terms of developing the main relationship. I’m delighted they eventually talked everything out and started working on making their relationship healthier.
The friendship Precious had with Laura also added an extra element of interest to this story. Although far from the focus of the novella, it still made Precious feel like she had a life outside of Cali and Mike. The same thing applies to Cali and her relationship with her grandmother. These relationships gave the two of them more depth.
All in all, I’m just thriving with the poly relationships this author is serving up. Some good fucking food.
My favourite grouping in romance novels is two women and a man so when someone recommended Katrina Jackson’s books to me and I found out that some of her novels are f/f/m I couldn’t wait to read them. This book did not disappoint and I couldn’t put it down.
This book was everything that I love in a romance novel. It had a good dose of angst, extremely hot sex scenes and, of course, a happy ending. The relationship between them was so sweet and romantic at times but then equally hot (and still romantic). I read a lot of romance novels and generally I enjoy them and then move on but this one really stayed with me and I think the reason why was that the characters were just so relatable. I especially related to Cali and I really liked how Katrina Jackson portrayed Cali’s relationship with her therapist and the importance of therapy in her life.
I would really recommend this novel for anyone who likes erotic romance and polyamorous romance.
Ahh, I loved this. I found Cali very relatable in the pieces of her mind we saw around her insecurities and need for noise. I just wanted to hug her close sometimes~ And Mike is such a sweetie, and I loved that he has insecurities and the nuances of him. Precious was a great balance to Mike and Cali’s relationship. My favorite part is that everything starts as friendship and their friendship stays so central to the relationship, even as it developed into something sexual and romantic.
Super emotional in a lot of ways while heavy on the eroticism.
Content notes: on page sex, scene listening to roommates having sex, alcohol consumption, references to marijuana use, therapy sessions, references to past trauma, complicated body image (two MCs are models), complicated relationship with food

Models Cali and Michael, who are a couple, need a new roommate in their apartment. They are worried when they find the perfect person because they both also really really want her.
Precious was so happy to find such wonderful roommates but is also struggling as she is falling for both of them. All three dance around their own personal issues with intimacy and relationships, but eventually they all fall into bed and into a perfect HEA.
Heavy on the sex, which I'm cool with, but for the length I found the three POVs to be a bit too much. Definitely an author I will begin following!
For curious minds - Cali and Precious are black and Michael is Asian.
I was totally judging this book by its cover, so I didn't have the highest of hopes for enjoying this story. However, the author packs a wallop of a romance into this novella. Mike, Cali, and Precious all get POV chapters and have their own conflicts. Thankfully, none of these conflicts stop the trio from having some hot and steamy sex. I was confused at how they were positioned at times but I still had a fun time with the sex scenes. The epilogue is extra sweet and perfectly brings an end to the story while hinting at the next phase of their relationship. Not bad for my first time reading this author.
Another really wonderful polyam romance from Katrina Jackson! This is the second book I've read by this author, and she is already one of my favorite writers of menage romance. Room for Three? is a super sweet and sexy book with three lovely characters who support and cherish each other. I thought the way the story addressed the insecurities of all three MCs was really well done and balanced perfectly with the fluffier elements.
Two minor quibbles: I wish the sexuality of the two female leads was a more clearly discussed, and there are some minor editing issues.
I started this book on a chill Saturday night and finished it on a cold, rainy Sunday afternoon. I desperately needed to put it down to get some writing of my own done and accomplish some chores but I couldn't stop coming back every few minutes. Even for just a few more words. It was ridiculously sexy, moving, and warm as hell. I'd recommend Room For Three? to anyone looking for a book with a positive, realistic portrayal of poly couples that has the perfect amount of heat and romance.
This was short but sexy. There was room to really explore more about characters—I’d have loved more of their backgrounds especially Cali as I really felt the mental health rep with her anxiety was well done—and I wished there was a little bit more of them just being together without the sex. But it was a nice polyam romance and I am a big fan of Kat Jackson as an author and as a person so can’t wait to continue catching up on her backlist.
I really enjoyed this. Precious was exactly that and when she stumbles upon her new flatmates, a couple named Mike and Cali there's instant connection. They don't exactly hide it and it's really rare that there's a poly relationship book that doesn't have drama attached. The friendship was just as important as the other aspect of the relationship. I'm really starting to jive with this authors writing style.
