Not sure why there is a flap with nothing revealed underneath. So many other titles have done this concept better.

5 pairs and 1 trio of animal opposites are presented in this toddler appropriate board book with flaps. Toddlers will gain animal knowledge and concepts such as heavy/light and slow/fast. Horacek’s mixed media illustrations are very charming and will capture the visual interest of even the youngest board book reader and their caregivers. Most of the flaps are very sturdy and will survive enthusiastic use by their young readers. Only the Ostrich neck when it folds out to illustrate tall seems fragile due to its thin silhouette.

I would recommend this book for purchase for inclusion in any public library board book collection.

Definitely something you can’t expect your child to read by themselves the first time through as it’s just two images and an animal name, with no questioning which one is the biggest, nor an answer. The lift-the-flap portion usually just hides a smaller animal or words.

A brightly colored board book with loft the flaps with a basic focus on opposites. For example a blue whale for the concept of heave and a jellyfish for the concept of light.
