"Together they will rise.”

Something sinister is sweeping across Kiero, and war threatens to rip apart the remains of Black Dawn Rebellion.
Distraught by the decisions she made while in the Draken Mountains with Adair, Emory Fae, Queen of Kiero, is hiding a deadly secret, and now, Emory is seeking aid from Marquis Maher, King of the Shattered Isles, in the looming war.
With Brokk by her side, they search for answers and aid from the Shattered Isles, a country that has remained protected from Adair’s wrath across the Black Sea. While there, Emory will learn the weight of what it means to be Queen, but what will she sacrifice to save the ones she loves?
Since the Academy fell and the Black Dawn rebellion scattered, Brokk Foster’s past and the truth about his lineage has come to light. Brokk and his newly found immortal fey warriors are skeptical of Marquis and his terms to a new alliance. Being torn between love and Brokk’s loyalty to the rebellion, he will have to decide whether to remain true to his cause or follow a destiny he never wanted.
Together, can Emory and Brokk make an alliance in time to return to Kiero and aid the rebels?
Nyx Astire, new clan leader to the raiders in the Risco Desert, has lost everything. With no word on if the town of Pentharrow has survived under Azarius Walsh’s command, Nyx tries to rally the Dust Clan and prepare them to ally with any remaining members of the Black Dawn Rebellion. But tradition and her past throws Nyx into a dynamic ruling. Will she do anything to ensure Kiero’s survival from her new point of power?
Kingdom of Broken Iron is the third installment in the bestselling Black Dawn series. Can friendship, love, and fellowship defy an enemy Kiero has never seen before?

I loved the multiple POVs in this and especially Emory and Brock!!!!! McCartney strings together another brilliant story full of beautiful writing, action, and swoon. An addicting ride that I didn’t want to end. Perfectly dark and magical!

I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via the author.

Kingdom of Broken Iron is the 3rd book in the Black Dawn series by Mallory McCartney and picked up straight after book 2 ended.
Emory is battling to overthrow Declan and become the rightful queen but first she has to form an alliance to overthrow him. She makes a pact with Marquis and as she falls in live with Brokk even further, she tries to spare him in the battle to come.
This book was breathtaking. These books get better and better as the series and plot develops and I've been left reeling and desperate for book 4!
Thus book has some fantastic new characters and twists throughout and so much action I nearly fell out of my seat in anticipation!
Now for book 4!!!

*Thoughts*

Kingdom of Broken Iron is the third installment in author Mallory McCartney's Black Dawn series. I would recommend that readers ensure that you have read the first two books (Heir of Lies and Queen to Ashes) first before jumping into this book or wait until all four books have been released and read them back to back. My reasoning is that unless you've been lucky enough to read the new version books with the new covers, thanks to the author or various blog tours, you will likely have been waiting since 2019 for this book to be released.

This series is on fire! One of my favorite highlights was between Emory and Brokk. There are some intense moments, like when Emory finds herself searching for Brokk in the Black sea. Poor Brokk! He never seems to get a break and is always fighting for his life since the first book. I loved the conflicting feelings on how they need to go about the mission, particularly with Marquis in the picture. Emory is great in the lead as she tries to prepare herself for war and the Oileans. Marquis and Declan are also unique, even though Marquis got on my nerves for his arrogance. Marquis surprised me because I grew to like him later on in the story.

The other highlight of the story was Nyx. I adored this character from the previous book and thought her storyline was electrifying. I was glued to the pages reading about her journey and the new characters she meets.

In keeping in line with the previous books in the series, the author does not stop with the excitement. Some scenes shocked me, like the ones with Emory and Skena at the Harvest Equinox, when Nyx looks into the ripples to see another person’s past, or when we learn another character gets killed.

However, while I am thoroughly enjoying the series, I feel it is taking a life of its own. The first book’s direction feels utterly different from the present one, and to be honest, I miss some of the old characters. However, now that I got invested, I would love to read the next book, particularly now that this one also ended in a cliffhanger. Overall, “Kingdom of Broken Iron” is a lovely addition to the series, and I highly recommend you read the books from the beginning.

Kingdom of Broken Iron is devastating heartbreak in pretty packaging.

Scattered and broken, the last of the Black Dawn rebellion use their magic and wits to claw their way to power under the crushing weight of destiny. The only thing standing in their way is themselves. Can they overcome their secrets and loss in time to save Kiero?

Join the cause! Fight the dark forces in the name of family, freedom and a better future for all!

If power struggles, political maneuvering, magic, monsters and utter betrayal are for you, then look no further than the Black Dawn series. Dark forces and dangerous secrets abound. And yes, there's even a little steam for you lovers out there.

Thank you to the author for a gifted eBook in exchange for an honest review

I was so excited to read the next instalment in the Black Dawn series and this did not disappoint, I needed to know what happened to Emory and Brokk, and now I just feel the exact same way with poor Brokk, I have never held such sympathy for a character before, he just cannot catch a break can he, I love his character development and I honestly cannot wait to see more of it in The Cursed Throne

“Knowledge is the sharpest weapon, if you know how to wield it”

Kingdom of Broken Iron follows both Emory and Brokk as they try to form an alliance to overthrow the Declan and have Emory returned to her rightful place as Queen, the pace in this book is fantastic and its completely action packed and angst ridden, and just full of twists and turns aplenty, I could not put the book down, I needed to know just exactly what happened!

I found that Marquis was such a hit and miss character, half the time I found his character charming and liked him and other times I wanted to have him written out of the story, but I am glad where his character arc seems to be heading, I just hope that the series ends with Emory and Brokk exactly where we want them.

I cannot wait for the next instalment, the author is doing a fantastic job at making me feel 101 different emotions, and I highly recommend this series to fantasy lovers!

A world to lose yourself in... Its ancient magic and fierce warriors will capture your heart in this dark and dangerous tale.

McCartney has done it again! I'm obsessed. Nyx and Emory... these two are becoming more badass with every novel and I AM HERE FOR IT. I think Nyx is my favourite now. Also, yes, I love Marquis too. Who can resist his green hair and charm? And Brokk! I can't wait to uncover the twists and surprises that McCartney has planned for the next one!

Without a doubt, this series just gets better and better. It gets darker, more emotional, and more intense. The characters are so complex, and the storyline is just astounding. There are so many unexpected twists that you just can't imagine what will happen next. I am so invested in these books and can't wait to see what happens next, especially after that ending!! I highly recommend these, they're firmly amongst my favourite series.

"Don’t look back.
Five steps.
Four.
Three.
Two.
Passing underneath the canopy of trees, he was free."

I have said this once and I'll say it again, The world building of Mallory McCartney operates on a different level altogether! I just got done reading the third book of The Black Dawn Series by her and I couldn't have possibly imagined anything happening in the 3rd book after finishing the 1st one and that's a feat, that Mallory McCartney acclaims!

I am in love with how I have come so far with all the characters, my bestie Emory and my babe Brokk! My heart aches and roots for all the characters in the book and I am genuinely so impressed with how the plot highlights each of their roles so brilliantly! The third book brings out some dark secrets and some steamy stuff that you definitely do not want to miss! And I adore books with maps!🤩👌

One other thing that I loved about it's book was it's dialogue delivery! The dialogues and conversations were strong and amusing as and when required and they fitted perfectly with the image I have created of each character and I loved it!! The way few sentences were giving me chills throughout the book even if they weren't adding any substantial plot change vibe, was magnificent! I am mentioning some of the quotes I loved below, if I could pepper this entire review with them, trust me, I would!

"You are bringing war upon us. Asking my people to die for you. Asking me to trust you. You and I don’t know the first thing about each other."

"But it strikes me—the passion in this world, for survival. To fight against your certain doom.”

"Our mistakes are in the past, but our characters aren’t condemned by them. You acted out of love. It’s better than acting out of fear.”

PICK THIS SERIES UP ASAP!

Dark, fast-paced and climatic! This book is everything I want in an epic fantasy. Kingdom of Broken Iron is my favourite book from the series thus far!

The dialogue is witty and fun to read, the art is stunning, the cover is gorgeous, and the contents are legendary! The ending once again has me ready for the next book.

Some author's have this gift, to write a story you feel pulled into, and Mal is one of them. Grabbing you by your shirt front, dragging you into the pages, and not letting you stop reading until you're done.

If you haven't read the first two books, I highly recommend them, and if you have get ready to read a fantastic continuation of the Black Dawn series!

Kingdom of Broken Iron is the third book in the Black Dawn series by Mallory McCartney and it picks up right after book 2 ended.

This book was amazing and the plot was mind blowing. Emory is battling to overthrow Declan so she can take her place as the rightful queen. As I continued reading the plot continued to develop and the books got better and better as I progressed with the series! I loved all the twists, turns, emotion, characters, and action. The brilliance of the plot was only aided by the beautiful writing. I can’t wait for the next book!

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Straight up, I need to say I have not read books one and two in this series, so it did take me a minute to get into the story and figure out what was going on. Once I did though, I really enjoyed the fast paced action, the world building, the power wielding and fight scenes. This story has everything you could want in a fantasy series, and I’m thinking I might just have to go back and read the first two.

Mallory McCartney has truly outdone herself with "Kingdom of Broken Iron." From the first page, the rich world-building of the Shattered Isles captivated me, transporting me into the vibrant markets and deeply rooted cultures. The detailed lore and traditions, especially the traditions of the Dust Clan, added incredible depth and authenticity to the story.

The multiple points of view kept the narrative fresh and engaging, allowing the reader to follow each character's thrilling journey. Marquis's unwavering dedication to his people is both touching and inspiring. Emory's transformation into a formidable powerhouse is masterfully portrayed, with each intense battle scene showcasing the growth and toll of her magical abilities.

Nyx's evolution into an even more formidable character than before is brilliantly executed. Her strength and determination shine through every page, proving her resilience and leadership.

The plot twists are nothing short of spectacular, keeping me on the edge of my seat. Just when I thought I had the story line figured out, Mallory threw in another twist that left me eagerly turning the pages.

"Kingdom of Broken Iron" is such a wonderful story, blending intricate world-building, compelling character development, and an unpredictable plot. It's a must-read for any fantasy lover.

Book Review…Kingdom of Broken Iron by Mallory McCartney

Kingdom of Broken Iron is the 3rd book in the Black Dawn series and picks up right where the second book leaves off. So far every book in this series just gets better and better, everything gets kicked up a notch. There's multiple points of view and I really enjoyed getting to each of the characters more. It's been interesting seeing them all change throughout the series so far. But this time some dark secrets were revealed! It will be interesting to see what happens next!
