Lone Star Princess is the second instalment in Lenora Worth’s Castles of Dallas series. Each book can be read as a standalone as the author has crafted a story that stands perfectly well on its own while also offering a comprehensive backstory.

Annabelle Castle was the rebel of the family. Now her step-sister has given her an opportunity to prove herself. She is now head of displays for the glamorous Castle Department store. Her step-sister has given her the opportunity to put her stamp on a new store. Anxious to live up to the expectations she would rather not have the flirtatious and irresistible bodyguard her sister has assigned her.

Johnny Darrow is head of security for the flagship Castle store. He had his heart broken once before and refuses to risk it again. He has long been drawn to the rebellious Annabelle and could always see the woman she hid from the world. Now his boss wants him to keep her safe, being in such close quarters can only lead to disaster.

While I enjoyed the first in the series this was a let down for me. While I enjoyed Annabelle as a character I felt information about Johnny was drip fed to the reader and not in a cohesive manner. The romance felt stilted and while the first half of the book was good the second half was boring.

Thanks to the author for providing a copy of this book via Netgalley.
This book started with good solid 4 stars, until 60% of the book, and then, puuufffff, this weak, coward hero still was without any balls.
Their relationship started when the heroine was at her teens, H worked in security for her step-dad. Our heroine always had quite a crash on him, this jerk. They both dated other people all this 8-9 years. And now our heroine was tired of his flirt-pull-pushing...
But H doesnt like seeing our girl with another man/men... Yeah, he starts growling and roaring... WHY? If you dont want her for you?
I liked our h, she’s got some balls, she improved herself, she was independent and strong character.
But because of this weak hero this book didnt work out for me. Nah, NOPE!

Sweet and funny contemporary romance. This is the second in the series, but although I hadn't read the first Worth did an excellent job condensing the relevant plot details to introduce this story. The story revolved around the classic trope of the bad girl and the good boy, the rebel and the hero but with a sweet undertone that I thought worked really well.
Recommended.

I'm a big fan of Lenora Worth and Lone Star Princess is a classic. Fun and intriguing and I love the Dallas setting. And the shoes, of course! Annabelle and Johnny are great characters and we got to see a little of the couple from the previous book, which is always fun. Can't wait for the next book in the series!

Annabelle Castle is a rebel without a cause…until her stepsister, the head of the glamorous Castle Department store, offers her the chance of a lifetime. Too bad the opportunity to finally play a role in the Castle’s future comes with strings attached—the man who gets under her skin.
Former cop Johnny Darrow is head of security for the Texas-based Castles. He excels at his job and nothing gets to him…except Annabelle. Even as he dragged Annabelle out of many public relations disasters with the paparazzi, he knew there was so much more to her than the headline-grabbing, rich girl. Now that she’s matured and determined to turn over a new leaf, he finds her irresistible. She’s smart, creative, and makes him feel things he hasn’t after a personal tragedy.
When Johnny’s assigned a job as Annabelle’s bodyguard, he must push his feelings aside. Can Johnny keep his focus to protect Annabelle or will his feelings for her put everything at risk?
This is Annabelle Castle and Johnny Darrow's story.
“Where you headed, princess?”
Annabelle Castle cringed at being called that nickname, especially by this man. Whirling to face the bane of her existence—the new head of security at Castle Department Store, Johnny Darrow—she put on a cool face and gave him one of her I’m-so-bored glares.
“That title is reserved for Eleanor.”
“No, she got promoted to queen. So that makes you the new princess of this Castle.”
Giving Johnny a daring glance, she said, “I thought you’d stay busier—and out of my way—now that you’ve been promoted.”
Even though he picked at her relentlessly and loved to flirt, Johnny had somehow managed to get her attention when she’d first arrived at Castle’s and worked part time as a teenager. But when she’d come back from college a couple of years ago and given him big hints to take things further, he’d treated her more like a bratty sister than someone he might want to get serious with. Then the one time she’d needed him a few months ago, he’d been away on one of his Johnny adventures. Not available.
Annabelle had given up on that adolescent crush. Johnny was like a thorn in her side.
I highly recommend reading.

Rebel of the Castle family, Annabelle, has finally grown up and is working at Castle Department Store and creating eye catching displays. With a new store about to open, Annabelle’s step-sister, Eleanor, puts Annabelle in charge of designing it. But she will need a bodyguard with her at all times as the press is still hungry for information about her mother, Caron’s arrest. Head of security, and Annabelle’s crush, Johnny Darrow is asked to watch over Annabelle until the job is finished and the store opens.

Johnny doesn’t really want to work so close with Annabelle, but he will do it. He knows he is the best person for the job. He has had a thing for her for a long time, but he knew better than to act on it as she was his boss’s daughter. He will have to keep his mind on the job and nothing else. The more time Johnny and Annabelle spend together, the closer they both become. Will they be able to keep it strictly business?

The chemistry between Annabelle and Johnny was intense. I loved how they joked with each other all the time but when they got serious, the conversations took a different tone making the book more interesting. It was nice to see Annabelle finally grown up and no longer the party girl she was in the first book of this series. I also liked the setting for the book. Being in the Dallas area, it was easy to picture the places mentioned in the book. I could relate to Annabelle’s job. When I worked in retail, my dream was to do displays at stores and I did for a short while, but nothing to the extent of what Annabelle did. So, it was fun to relive those dreams through this story. All around, I thought it was a fun and enjoyable book. But I would definitely recommend reading Undercover Princess first to get the background on the characters in this book.

I had a good time with Lone Star Princess, although for me it didn’t have the intensity of the first story, Undercover Princess, it certainly did give us a chance to see Annabelle grow up and mature. I will always say that it’s best to start a series from the beginning for the best understanding and entertainment value – but for this one, I believe you really need the family dynamic and background to really appreciate Lone Star Princess. Of course, that’s my opinion but it’s worth mentioning… besides the first story is a good one, too.

It was a pleasure watching the changes in Annabelle. She’s gone from an attention grabbing party girl to a young woman who is given the chance to shine on her own and she takes ownership of that chance her step-sister, Eleanor, has given her. Johnny has always felt his attraction for this little rebel, he’s certainly gotten her out of enough scrapes over time. Yet he won’t act on that attraction for a few reasons… reasons that suddenly aren’t that straightforward anymore as Annabelle takes charge of designing and setting up the thought provoking displays for her family’s new store. This is a different woman, she’s finding her own worth, and she’s keeping out of trouble (for the most part) and maybe it’s time to stop fighting what is happening between them.

If you’re in the mood for a good love story then Lone Star Princess may just fit that bill for you. Although, again, it helps to have read the first book in this series to understand just how much Annabelle has changed in her own story.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*

I loved reading the story Lone Star Princess by Lenora Worth, book two in her Castles of Dallas series, a delightful story about learning about oneself and how strong one can actually be. Acting like a brat and being disruptive has always gotten the attention Annabelle has wanted in the past. Now she needs to find that inner strength to live up to her older step-sister’s expectations and fulfill the duties assigned to her. Annabelle is full of doubt thanks to the belittling she received from her mother. Johnny, now in charge of security at the main store, cared about the employees of the store and watched over them as if they were family. He enjoyed teasing and flirting with Annabelle and she gave as good as she got, but these two have deeper feelings for each other. This leads to a wonderful and sweet story about forgiving oneself for their past mistakes, finding the perfect love and discovering their inner strength.
Annabelle and Johnny were sweet together and perfect for each other despite the obstacles Johnny put in their way from the demons of his past. I also enjoyed seeing Annabelle come into herself, taking responsibility and working hard to prove she had changed since the arrest of her mother.

This was a fun book to read and easy to visualize the story as it occurred. I totally loved these characters and didn’t want to put this book down. Ms. Worth did a fantastic job creating her characters, making them realistic, keeping the story interesting, making me forget the world around me and not letting me go until I turned the last page, wanting more. I highly recommend this book to other readers and look forward to the next book in the series.

Lone Star Princess, the second book in the Castles of Dallas series was just as sweet and endearing as the first book Undercover Princess.  Another beautiful feel good romance.

In this story it picks up where the first book left off with Ellie taking over the Castles Legacy and engaged to Nico Lamon.  Annabelle is dealing with the fall out of her mothers crimes against the Castle Department stores and Ellie's father, but Ellie believes in her and tries to make her life better for her.  When Ellie offers Annabelle the job of a lifetime she doubts that she can accomplish what Ellie wants.    Along with that Johnny Darrow, her secret crush has been assigned to watch over her.  Can these two pull this job off without ruining their friendship?

I really liked Annabelle.  She reminded me of myself in some ways.  She is creative and smart but doesn't feel she is good enough.  Johnny is good looking and has a dark past.  He has been heartbroken before and it really did a number on him emotionally.  Reading about these two as they develop their feelings for one another, was an amazing journey.  The banter between them is great, light-hearted and  fun.  Along with their story we are introduced to new characters that I am sure we will see in future books.  I am in love with the employees of Castle Department Stores.  They are an interesting mix of people and their world is so entertaining.  I am looking forward to more books from this series.

Overall this book was wonderful.  It was fun and engaging.  I really enjoyed all the characters and the world that the author has created.  The story flows smoothly and at a steady pace.  A real feel good romance that will make your heart melt.

I absolutely adore reading a book that is based in the little obscure town that I live in by the name of Grapevine, Texas. This book is actually based at a fictional mall around here so it had me thinking here would they put it. Let me fill you in on the storyline and you will see what I am talking about. This is the second book in the Castles of Dallas series and while we met this sister in the last book we just got started getting to know her really. If you did not read the last book no worries this book can be read as a stand alone just fine. (But the first book Undercover Princess is really good.) Annabelle Castle is the step-sister to Eleanor. In this book we see a new and improved Annabelle thanks to her mom going to prison and Eleanor believing her her and making her the manager of visual merchandising of Castle stores. Then Eleanor throws Annabelle and the head of security Johnny Darrow together for the building of the new Castle store which is located in that little town i was talking about ...Grapevine, TX. This book is different from the first book, in it is more a push-pull romance. It might now move as fast but it is just as good a book and i enjoyed it every bit as much. I am so looking forward to the third book in this series and wondering where the author will take us in the DFW Metroplex or across the ocean ti Italy? Only time will tell.

I received a copy of Lone Star Princess through Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. This book was released on 4 June 2018.

This is the second book in the Castles of Dallas series. I had not read the first book in the series. Although there are some characters and a back story that would have been introduced and explained in the first book Lone Star Princess can certainly be read as a stand alone.

Brief plot synopsis this is a love story with a HEA after the normal bumps in the road along the way.

Annabelle Castle former wild child and party girl is trying to prove herself as a visual merchandiser in her sister Eleanor’s department store. Annabelle is lacking confidence in herself but Eleanor believes in her and offers her the chance to design a new boutique store.

Johnny the male mc is Castles head security guard. He has watched and had feelings for Annabelle for years and has been sent to assist with setting up security for the new store and protecting Annabelle. He is reluctant to let her get too close due to past mistakes he perceives are his fault.

Overall this was a fun, relatively uncomplicated plot line with the required twist at the end. I will definitely be checking out the first book in the series and any others that follow.

Set in Texas, Lone Star Princess is the second book in The Castles of Dallas series but I read it quite a while after book one and it works really well as a stand-alone. The first book will give you some background to this story, however.
I loved both Annabelle and Johnny, the heroes of this story. Annabelle Castle is a talented designer whose works showcase the goods on sale in the family department stores. From Johnny Darrow’s perspective, Annabelle is way out of his league. She’s the stepdaughter of Charles Castle, the owner. She and Johnny have a friendly and flirtatious working relationship until they’re both given responsibility for setting up a new store, Annabelle in the design area and Johnny as head of security. Thrown together they suddenly discover their feelings for each other are stronger than either is willing to acknowledge.
I zipped through this book. It is a lovely mix of light entertainment and slightly angsty self doubt from both characters. These two were so easy to cheer for and while the story was predictable in places, it was still a thoroughly enjoyable read.

The second book in the series, has Annabelle Castle changing from the wild girl to now a women coming up with creative displays in the department store. Her sister now wants her to take her talent to a new that will be opening soon and give it the look that only she can give it. Also going with her to be her bodyguard and to hire security is Johnny Darrow. They have a thing for each other but it is only with words so far. Once they leave the store to be on their own you would think that the story would pick up some but here is where I found it to lag for some reason. Though I liked Annabelle’s character and could see the constant change for some reason Johnny’s character I found slow and actually slowed the story for part of it. When you start getting to the end it will start to pick up again and works towards a very nice ending. Wish it could have been a little more. The second story in the Castles of Dallas series definitely has the momentum to carry the series forward. The characters, both new and returning, have the strong personalities in which to capture your attention and keep you engaged and invested in their individual stories.

Chemistry amongst the characters is palpable, the dialog sharp and rapidly moving. The banter is both light-hearted and at some points sobering. Anabelle was the one character from the first story who had the most personality and the promise of the a fascinating story. Her angst over her self worth was heartbreaking, yet her self discovery as the story unfolded was extremely enlightening.

Having all the characters continue to intersect with each story keeps their importance to the overall storyline interesting, with anticipation of what the future holds.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the Publisher and NetGalley. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Lone Star Princess by Lenora Worth is second in the Castles of Dallas series. At first look, it is a story of a wild rich child who finally grew up. Looking closer it is a romantic sweet story of two people who have a connection that is finally able to grow into love.

The characters are engaging especially the grown-up version of Annabelle. Castle security head, Johnny Darrow is a man with past heartbreak so now he treads slowly back into love. A fun story. Even as Annabelle’s short-term bodyguard there is not a lot of intense suspense. The focus is more on the relationship between the two main characters. It is also different from the first book, keeping the series interesting.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lone Star Princess by Lenora Worth is book two in the Castles of Dallas series, but can be read as a standalone.

Annabelle is the rebel of the family, but is working hard to shed that image. She has some really good ideas for the store, and when her sister offers her a wonderful opportunity, it’s almost too good to be true. The only catch…she has to work with Johnny, head of security.

Annabelle and Johnny are drawn to each other. Johnny gets under Annabelle’s skin, but there’s much more to it than that. They have been dancing around each other for a while and this opportunity might just be the best thing to happen to both of them.

I liked the dialogue between the two characters and Annabelle’s growth throughout the series. She’s a great character. Overall, Lone Star Princess was an enjoyable read.

Annabelle Castle has been thru some horrible times. Her mom is in prison and a new sister is taking over the Castle, which is the biggest department store in Dallas. Changes have had to be made and Annabelle is trying to get rid of the party girl image and be a part of the Castle image of respectability. It's hard to change opinions of others, especially if that person is John Darrow, the head of security. He has seen her at her worst and it hurts to know he still sees her the same way. Annabelle is sent to a new store to set it it up for an opening. John is sent with her, a team or nothing. Love grows and sparks. Will they be able to overcome their pasts and find love? Endearing book with great characters.I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review and no compensation otherwise.

This is my first book to read by Lenora. I didn't read the first book in the series, so I had no background info to interfere with my opinions on this book. This was just an alright read for me.

I liked the heroine, Annabelle. She was strong, independent, feisty, held her own, and showed improvement from her past. Sure there were times she got annoying with her "I don't need any help" attitude, but other than that, I liked her.

Now the hero, Johnny Darrow...he was a dud to me. At the beginning I liked the flirty banter they had, but then he sort of changed into a wimp/coward. The info we get on him felt like it took too long to be revealed and by the time it came, I was mentally done with the story.

So all in all, this was a 3 star read. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC. This is my honest review.

In this second book in the Castles of Dallas series we get the story of Annabelle Castle and Johnny Darrow. Annabelle, the former bad girl of the family, is working hard to gain the respect of her sister. She's been enjoying the visual display work she's been doing but when given the daunting task of setting up and entire new store she's not sure she has what it takes to get the job done. Security specialist Johnny has been sent with her to the new location to make sure everything goes smoothly and without surprises. While working together on this project these two really get to know each other and discover there is far more to know than either let's the world see. Their story is sweet and their banter is funny. I couldn't help but root for them.

I would recommend this one.

Lone Star Princess, book two in the Castles of Texas series, is an enchanting book full of fashion and romance. The interactions between hunky security department head, Johnny Darrow, and Castle daughter, Annabelle, are perfectly attuned to the demons they both fight and to the chemistry they definitely feel. Johnny and Annabelle are thrown together by Eleanor Castle, Annabelle’s stepsister and Castle’s owner. They are sent to work on a new store outside Dallas. Both have been attracted to each other for ages and have kept their feelings under wraps. Being in close quarters threatens both. Eleanor knows better than both of them!

A fun read that had me smiling. This is the second book in the series. Bad girl Annabelle, has stepped up and needs to prove herself to her step sister. Annabelle is taking on the task of setting up the newest Castle store. She needs a bodyguard, Johnny is the perfect choice since he has already been protecting her in the past. As they work together they find that there is much more between them than what they thought.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Loved the banter between them. Loved how Annabelle got Johnny to finally open up about this past. I recommend this book for the perfect summer read.

I wanted to love this book. The plot was intriguing. but the actual book couldn't keep me interested. The MC just felt like they were always lacking.

The descriptive writing was well laid out. i just couldn't feel the pull between the two MCs.

This book was second in the series. But could be read as a stand alone. I previously hadn't read the first. I will now though because maybe it could help me have a better understanding of some of the characters from this book.

I will almost say 100% i would read the next in the series or any other from this author.

I won the Castles of Dallas trilogy in a Facebook contest. I really enjoyed the first book and Lone Star Princess was every bit as good. Annabelle Castle has been a rebel, acting out against her mother who in the last book was exposed as an embezzler and sent to prison. Given another chance by her stepsister Eleanor, Annabelle is coming into her own and developing her talents. Eleanor send Annabelle and her chief of security, Johnny Darrow, to help in the opening of another Castle department store. There has been some tension between them for a while and working in close quarters together really brings the sparks! I cannot wait to read #3 about Aiden Castle.

Annabelle Castle's family owns a department store. Her stepsister, the head of the store, offers her an opportunity; however, it comes with the irksome Johnny Darrow as her bodyguard. She gets under his skin as much or more than he gets under her's.

This Contemporary Romance is striking. The historical baggage each carries puts considerable stress on their relationship (both professional and personal). Her background and beauty also draw a lot of undesirable attention. After the grand gesture, the story comes to a charming end.

Easy-to-read. Entertaining. Happily Ever After. Romantic. Scary. Tragic. Unpredictable. Whimsical. Wonderful characters.

I really wanted to love this book. I very much enjoyed the first book in the series. However this book seemed to drag on for me. The main characters left a it to be desired. Johnny was very mysterious and although we did learn about his past, I feel like it was a short highlight of one part of his life but not enough to close the loop about who Johnny is. Annabelle was a good character, but again left me wanting to know more about her. The story almost felt forced, like the author was trying to get it out, but hit some writer's block. I might give the next book a try, but the preview didn't really grab my attention.

To be honest, this book didn't really do it for me. I found it lacking. It took me a long time to finish because I couldn't really get it into it.

I hated to push and pull of their relationship. I usually love that type of things in books. I felt like she was more into him than he was into her. She kept on chasing him. He was sort of punishing her and categorizing her with his ex. He didn't want to give their relationship a chance.

I was disappointed with this book. To be honest, I didn't feel the love between the two main characters and I felt like the were jumping the gun at the ending.

This is the first that I’ve by Lenora Worth and I got to say that i really like her work. Annabelle has been the rebel and a party girl but when her stepsister gives her the opportunity to prove herself, she accepts the task and exceeds. Johnny might not be willing to risk his heart or might be resistant to the feelings and chemistry that is going on with Annabelle but soon those feelings are hard to ignore. I am glad that both Annabelle and Johnny were able to get their HEA.

Johnny Darrow is a strong, sexy, charming former cop and head of security for the Texas-based Castles. Sizzling hot sparks fly and a the battle begins when Johnny is assigned a job as Annabelle's personal bodyguard. Highly enjoyed this entertaining and exciting adventure.....

Annabelle Castle and Johnny Darrow

Emotions run high for Annabelle Castle & Johnny Darrow after years of immature choices & scandals. Then the biggest scandal when her mother embezzled from the company. Now her older sister Eleanor wants her to set up the new Castle boutique in the mall. But for protection Johnny Darrow must be her personal bodyguard. Was Johnny that could cause trouble Since he has always cared about Annabelle. read the emotional story of these two lost souls.

Annabelle and Johnny had so much chemistry:
He ran a hand through his riotous hair. “I’m starving. Want to get a bite to eat?”
“You’re always starving.”
“Pretty much. Are you coming or not?”
Johnny's thoughts are just interesting, "but hey, the woman loved pancakes and he had to cook or starve anyway. Mainly, he really wanted to see her again." I liked this book, it was a very sweet read.
