Claire’s time is limited. The mark is consuming her. Magic needs to be restored, but will it be worth the cost? Humans will think of her as a traitor, the elves a savior. If nothing is done, there won’t be anything left at all. With only a clue on where to go, the journey ahead will push Claire to her limits. Can a simple barmaid really save the world? She’s about to find out.
I waited so long for this book, I was ready to scream when I got near to the end. No way did she go through all that to be betrayed yet again, and she had no hope of surviving, poor Farron when he found the letter. I was glad he found it before the cave and they could talk.
I don't think I can find anything out of place in this page turning adventure series. Casey Odell has given us - Monsters - all kinds ; nightmares, green eyed jealousy, invasions, Egos and so much more. Four Stars+ ABSOLUTELY a must read, if you are into fantasy adventure.
THere is a slight spoiler in this review: I have purchased the ebooks to this series because I couldnt wait. They were just that good and I was just that hooked. My heart broke for Fare towards the end of the story. I grew to have a real attachment to him, but was happy when it all worked out. I thought for a second that he would have to earn her love again because she didnt remember, but was happy to see that he didnt have to go through all that after all. I loved reading this series and am actually buying the paperbacks ASAP. lol
I didn't want it to end, but couldn't stop reading! I loved the complete series. So, this was it, bringing magic back, to save everything and everyone, to save it all. Was it worth it? Was the right thing to do? Was Claire going to die after the magic finally consumed her completely? I'll always have these books, this story, close to my heart. I started reading it to my mom, on her dead bed, and three months later, finished the complete series I just hope she heard it, wherever you are mommy, hope you liked it as much as I did.
The heroine’s emotional dithering, while understandable, took away some of my enjoyment of the adventure itself.
My mood may have affected my perception of this authority work, as I did not connect emotionally with any of the characters.
The world building was sufficiently compelling in the first volume (free) that I invested in the remaining books two, three and four, despite my pique at the main character’s inner turmoil.
I absolutely love this series. The story has loads of adventure and twists that I kept reading till I was done. The characters have great back stories and you can truly relate to all of them on some level . its a great story for young adults and teens, there is rare cursing and no graphic sex scenes. Just a love story that is in constant peril and and magically lands and creatures all can enjoy.
I withheld writing a review until I finished the last book. Why - because I wanted to strangle Claire most of the time. What a twit! The story line was fine, the visuals were great, most of the characters were developed well enough - but Claire did not deserve Fallon. My only other disappointment was that the end was not the real end - you had to read the epilog and even then I felt like something magical must have happened between the end and the epilog that the author did not share with her readers - it was like "Huh?"
This book had me really rooting for Claire and farron to complete their mission and have the happy ending they deserved. Who’d have thought after the slow start to the series with book 1 that I’d be dying to read all 4 books! Loved this series in the end
I really enjoyed the quest type of book and the development of The characters. Least enjoyed was the blood and gore .. of the monsters .....and her going back to evil people to be hurt again Great ending,
I loved the ending. And I really appreciate that the author kept consistent with the tone of the series through all 4 books Usually I’m bored with these long series by the end of book 2 but not this time.
It's a great way to wrap up and good little book series. I enjoyed reading this book. The ending is definitely a happily ever after for Claire and Farron..... for now.
This is not a stand alone book. There are 4 other books in this series. I recommend reading all to get the full experience. You will not be disappointed.
Best series I’ve read in awhile, probably because I found it when I wasn’t looking for it. This is the first book in the series. It could stand some editing, but honestly when I came across the book I could overlook some of the format because it fed the “escape element” I often look for in a book. Fantasy, action, adventure, romance. *please note there are a couple scenes that may be too steamy for younger readers
