I was born and raised by deaf parents in the Metro-Detroit area along with four siblings. Growing up in a house full of children, there was never a dull moment! We all inherited the reading gene from our father, who is a voracious reader. And the reading gene continues strong in my own two sons. I'm happily married (second time is a charm) to a patient and loving man who always cheers me on from the side-line to pursue my dreams. What more can a girl want?
4.5 stars... This was my first go at a ménage themed book. Even though I am not a fan of ménage, I thought the author handled the subject matter in a way that made me re-think the idea of what ménage can mean for some people in very unique circumstances. I think what made this work for me was that the ménage was more of a healing process for this couple's marriage. Jake feels he is less of a man now that he is paralyzed. He misses his once very spontaneous sex life he enjoyed with his wife. He hates that she has suffered right along with him. He gets this crazy idea that he could feel whole again by bringing in a surrogate lover for his wife. He approaches his best friend Chad, self-proclaimed bachelor for life, to be said surrogate. Chad and Jessie were hesitant to comply, but finally agreed in the hopes they can somehow help Jake heal. The journey that they began started off with rules in place and emotions in check, right?? Well, not exactly... :) They learn fairly quickly that emotions cannot be controlled and things kind of spiral in a direction that none of them had planned. We've all heard the expression that two halves make a whole. Well, in this case three parts made a whole. They seemed to complete each other in a way that I thought was truly exceptional and for all of the right reasons. This story is mostly about the power of friendship and that sometimes there is room in your heart to love more than one person. It's also about sacrifice, taking chances, and going the distance for those you care about most. It was very engaging, and for someone who really isn't a fan of ménage, I thought that this particular story portrayed a unique situation in which ménage can sometimes help fill in the gaps between three people who were all broken in some way. They were stronger together. I really liked it and if you're curious about ménage then this is a great book to start with. Even though it does include some very steamy sex scenes, It is not written only for the sex! It's meant to make you stop and consider the possibility of both the consequences and beauty that can come as a result of such a relationship. Lots of room for discussion with a book like this... it had me on edge for the entire last half. I was hurting for all of them.
Sexy... suspenseful... emotional... a pretty darn good read for a book I wasn't even sure I was going to like! Glad I took the chance and gave it a go.
In the beginning I felt like I had to suspend my disbelief a little bit. Jake's therapist actually suggesting that a menage might help him feel whole... *eyeroll* ?? I don't think so. Chad discussing his undercover work with the mafia in such a blase way in the restaurant... ??why doesn't he just get a billboard? Jessica and Jacob being married for 10 years and *poof* deciding to start referring to each other as nick names (Jake and Jessie) like it was completely natural despite the fact that for TEN YEARS refused to call each other those names...?? Uh, okay.
But, forget all of that! We have a handicapped lawyer who's completely in love with his wife and wants to spice up her sex life. So he talks his hot FBI agent best friend into rocking her world. Umm, hell yeah! Add to all of this the hanging threat of the mafia out for retribution and it's AWESOME!
The only thing that would have made this better is if this were maybe a M/M/f instead of an M/f/M. I find it a little tricky when not everyone is having sex with everyone. I always feel sorry for the one who seems like the odd-man-out. Their situation was fraught with landmines. The potential for epic disaster was blinking like a neon light. Plus, Jessie did something super poopy that made it worse... But I don't care, it was really good!
I was intrigued by the unique premise of this book. It's a menage, but not at all typical for the genre.
Jacob and Jessica's life hasn't been the same since the accident that left his legs paralysed. Particularly their once scorching sex life. When Jake comes up with the idea to start a menage between himself, his wife and his best friend; hot shot FBI agent, Chad, no one thinks it's a good idea, except Jake.
Turns out Jake is pretty smart. This is a menage that works, due to the personalities of all involved, opening them all to new possibiblites. Along the way, Jake gets back his confidence, Chad learns to risk his heart again, and Jessie realizes love can mean more than one thing.
I really enjoyed most of this book, though I got very frustrated at the 48% mark, when Jessie does something that is a HUGE trigger for me and almost made me quit the book. I'm glad I continued, though, and while the ending was a bit too pat, this is a helluva a book. I also have to commend the author for tackling a subject like this, in this way. It takes courage to follow through with a story that you know may only appeal to a very narrow audience.
Kudos for taking that plunge! I def recommend taking a chance on this steamy, but surprisingly heart-warming story.
When a man no longer feels desirable, he can either shut out his wife or invite a lover to act as his substitute. Wait, what just happened here? Ms. Matthews is a new to me author who requested this review. I admit I had a few reservations because this story can totally go sideways. I am no stranger to cuckold fantasies. However, this book clearly advertises as an erotic romance in a contemporary setting. Usually these two do not go well together because there is an element of humiliation which makes the reader uncomfortable. Jake Hanson is a man whose life took a dark turn. Through an accident, he lost the use of his legs. His identity as a good husband is tied to being an awesome lover. To be an awesome lover, he believes it equates to spontaneity and different sexual positions. Now, sex needs to be carefully planned which is a boner killer. Still, Jessica loves Jake and does not see him as a bad husband or lover.
Jake's idea is to have his best friend, Chad stand in for him and screw his wife silly. Let me count how many ways this can go wrong. With as grave reservations as Jessica, I plow forward with this story. Ms. Matthews does a good job of showing the flaws and how communication is key. This threesome is well written and demonstrates the pitfalls. What I really liked about this story is how this couple really becomes a threesome relationship. Chad loves Jake in a non-sexual way. He is the one who can kick Jake out of his funk. The solutions Chad comes up with to drag Jake out of his pity party are impressive. The tough love is applied like a hammer in a velvet glove. This is what really made the story so good for me.
The sex in this story is hot. It is a mfm ménage and I am okay with this. Usually I prefer mmf but this way is actually better. The creative ways to have sex in this story with a bit of kink is impressive. There are no fancy expensive equipment. Instead, every day household furniture is used to help Jake get his moxy and grove back on. This is heartwarming and uplifting. This is a story of hope and a fresh start. The sex, characters and plot all worked well for me. Recommended to ménage readers who love happily ever afters.
*I received this book as a review copy in return for an honest review
EDITED VERSION Part 2: After mulling over in bed last night, lol OK, so last night I lay awake in bed thinking of this story, lol and I still liked it BUT I have to say that Jessie sort of annoyed me the latter half of the book. She made a couple of shitty decisions and quite frankly, I am not ok with. Truly LOVED Jake and yes, he was the one who initiated the whole thing and yes, I thought it was HOT lol and Chad, OMG....this man made my heart and private parts too swoon!!!!!! Both guys in their own way were SUPER HOT and SEXY and they both loved Jessie so much and for that it made me just a tad bit jealous and envious at the same time of Jessie, lololol!!!!!!
OK, OK, I know, me who can be sooooo picky but again when a menage is done in the right setting I do like those stories and this one I really did like.
I feel like a shit because I loved BOTH Jake and Chad and glad they found there happy together BUT yet I wished one of them could just get the whol 100% from Jessie if that makes sense but I am so happy that they are all on the same page!

There's not enough erotic romance books out there that have MC's with disabilities, and especially not many this realistic, showing the emotional ups and downs that those people feel on a daily basis.
Attorney Jacob Hanson wishes he had died in that ski accident; it would be better than living half a life without use of his legs. The worst part is the effect it's had on his marriage to Jessica. Their once excellent sex life is now stalled and boring since he's unable to be spontaneous like he used to be. At his shrink's prompting, Jake enlists the help of his best friend Chad Wilson to be his surrogate legs, to give his wife what he's unable to in the bedroom. Chad is all in, but he knows it's not going to end well.
While reluctant at first, Jessie soon embraces the new threesome, and she realizes that Chad isn't just good for her sex life, he's good at pushing Jake out of his comfort zone and challenging him to take back his life in new and exciting ways. At first Chad was just in this as a favor to Jake, but he didn't realize that his always little crush on Jessie is now much, much more. What happens when just sex turns into so much more than anyone bargained for?
MAKE ME WHOLE is a powerful erotic romance novel that will make you think about the definition of love, family and what being whole really means. At first, Chad projects this bad boy image, but he's really a good friend and wants nothing more than to do whatever it takes for his best friend to feel like a man again. Jake is certain that seeing Chad with his wife, standing in where he is unable to, will be exactly what he needs to feel useful and present in the relationship again. He controls the show, he calls the shots, he is the puppet master.
Meanwhile, Chad is the one who is silently calling the shots, calling out Jake when he's pouting or giving in easily, forcing him to face his paralysis and work toward figuring out a solution to whatever obstacle might be in his way. Jessie worked really hard to do the same thing, but Chad is a man, and can better relate to how emasculated Jake feels.
The sex is tentative at first, and the reader totally feels the tension and nervousness between Jessie and Chad. Once Jessie is fully present and on board, she's a wildcat, what I imagined her to be like with Jake before his accident. I don't want to give away too much about what any of the three of them mentally go through, but suffice to say that each of them has to come to terms with some serious shit before they can ever make a real go at a permanent ménage relationship. And the action at the end? Just the icing on the cake of this very fantastic book.
Bottom Line: MAKE ME WHOLE is an excellent reminder that not all heroes are perfect specimens of almost bionic men; some have scars, disabilities or impairments that nevertheless make them a formidable force to be reckoned with. - See more at: http://erotic.theromancereviews.com/v...
I encourage potential readers to read this review in full, and not just take the star-rating as a factor in deciding whether to read this book. There is a very clear reason why this book is 3 stars instead of 5 for me, and that is because I hate the ending. But it is simply a matter of taste and mine may differ from yours. Everything else about this book was a solid five stars.
I’m not a fan of menage and this is the only menage story I’ve read. But let me tell you – if there was one scenario where I could kinda , sorta get behind a threesome, this scenario is it. R.C. Matthews does a wonderful job taking the readers on an emotional and sensual journey. All three characters are likeable and relatable and anyone with a decent heart can’t help but feel for all three of them and bite their fingernails down to nubs, waiting to find out what happens in the end.
Jake is a man struggling to maintain his masculinity after an accident paralyzes him. Matthews takes us into his psyche and the torturous inferiority he feels compared to his former self. Your heart aches for him.
Jessie, his wife, agonizes over his depression and her helplessness. She would do anything to make him happy again, to make him love life again.
Chad, his best friend, feels the same, though he employs a little more tough love than Jessie.
Jake asks something of them that leads them all down an emotional path with very high-highs, and weepingly low-lows. Lines are blurred and even crossed.
There is suspense, angst, violence, sex, laughter and tears, and I loved it all – until the end. I can’t say why as it will give away the plot, but I so wished for a different outcome. If I hadn’t enjoyed the other 99% of the story so much, I would probably rate this lower (that’s how much I don’t like the ending), but because Matthews did such an extraordinary job making someone like me (a person who steers far wide of stories like this) fully engage and invest in this tale – she gets 3 stars.
I full recommend this to people who like ménage and/or blurred lines. I guarantee if will be a solid FIVE for them!
WOW. This book completely blew my mind. Ménage is not my first choice for a genre and honestly, it’s not something I’ve ever considered to read. BUT now that I have, I highly recommend MAKE ME WHOLE.
I was introduced to something entirely new here and had assumed before I started reading that I wasn’t going to like it. I was wrong. Each page left me more interested than the last. My reactions were my favorite part of the book. Here are a few thoughts I had while reading this book.
Is he serious?
No way.
Oh yeah, let’s see how this goes.
They won’t…oh what! They are!
Is he - he wouldn’t - nope yep, yep he is doing that.
Whoa.
Add in a few times where I blushed while reading and maybe did a jaw drop here or there.
Jessie, Jake, and Chad are three people with huge hearts. To put their selves in a situation like this because they want the others to be happy is something special. It’s a huge step to take. Aside from helping in the bedroom, Jake was able to overcome so much in his life. He didn’t know that once choice was going to change everything.
The connection between each character was beautiful. They loved each other for different reasons and they needed each other for those exact reasons.
Tasteful, emotional, and engaging are three words I’d use to describe this book. If you looking for something outside your typical read, MAKE ME WHOLE is the perfect choice.
MAKE ME WHOLE by author R C Matthews is a June release.
Jake Hanson having lost the use of his legs come to the conclusion that he is not a whole man now. And he wouldn’t be able to satisfy his wife. So he comes up with a plan to rope in his best friend, FBI agent Chad Wilson as a surrogate lover.
Would Chad agree to the arrangement? What about Jake’s wife, Jessica? Would she be willing to give this arrangement a go?
And what would happen when Chad’s enemies come looking for them?
Read MAKE ME WHOLE to find out how it all ends. It is a story shimmering with sensuality and emotions. Author R C Matthews has fire and passion in this story, which would surprise and then hook her readers in. This romance is a unique twist on relationships.
~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads~~
This is a really thought provoking and highly enjoyable read. It reminds us all that no judgments should be made until you stand (or sit) in someone's shoes. It is by turns hot, emotional, fun, soul searchingly deep and dramatic. The pressures from outside the menage build just as they do from the inside. The battering that the three take emotionally, mentally and to an extent physically rises to a crescendo, leaving the reader very much on the edge of their seat.
I loved it and really didn't want it to end. Thank you Ms Matthews.
I absolutely loved this story of Jake, Jessie and Chad. The book will set your heart alight, then break it and then piece it back together. The journey for these three people is both awe inspiring and heartbreaking, get the tissues ready. Fantastic five star read.
Great story, original, easy writing but somehow I cannot give a 5 stars. And here are my reasons.
It started really really great. One hero in a chair, a devoted wife and a best friend.
The story made totally sense to me. Some relationship are based on friendship, some other on sex, some on family etc. Here the glue was sex. I understand it although for me this would not be enough to keep the relationship long term but I understand that some couple focus only on themselves with no child. I met some. It is their choice. Most wish to be free to sport, to travel, to do whatever they want. It sounds selfish but if they have the honesty to say that they would not be good parents, then I agree with their choice of living.
So the story start after the accident. It sure changed everything in the relationship and since sex was their #1, I understood that either the couple would fall apart or, like in this story, an alternative was found.
R.C. Matthews described very well the struggles, the depression, the hopes and fears of the handicapped hero, Jake. However, I was less convinced with the wife, Jessie. I understood the second hero and his path, Chad.
So in order to spice the couple and made him feel better, Jake asks his best friend to fuck his wife while he plays the voyeur. All the story will be around this idea and how feelings will be developed for each characters short and long term.
So I struggled with the wife. She is a devoted wife, loved her husband, accepted to take care of himself, accepted to have a “boring sex life” due to circumstances. I mean she is the perfect wife. And when her husband tell her that he wants a threesome, she has very little reserves and accepts pretty quickly, not only the idea but the sex. She thought she could not make love with another person besides her husband because sex and love came in a package but yet, she had no issue to accept and have sex with this friend that she was never attracted before. I felt she was a puppet: do this! yes dear. Do not fall in love! Never, dear. I do not like oui oui heroines…
Something was not right. I had issues with the heroine. Either she is a good little wife with no spine and born and raised to please her husband no matter what or the author failed to show me that she made her choice with open eyes, or maybe the author wanted her that way? Whatever the reasons, I could not relate with the heroine.
I liked better both heroes. Jake lost his manhood somehow when he lost the use of his legs. I understand that. When a person is out of his/her normal element, I get it that alternatives pop up and some totally unorthodox. It was totally credible that he did not count on the fact that his best friend was in love with his wife or would fall in love deeper. Sometimes it is easy to forget important details that can messes some plans.
Chad was the perfect third but of course if love was not involved. He was a player, a bachelor, kind a jerk who left the room after the party. So it was interesting to see how he rejected the idea to love because of his work and per respect of his best friend and the uncontrollable feelings he always had for Jessie.
So it was overall a great set up of characters and plot. I liked it.
But in the middle of the story, I started to detach myself because nothing really happened. It took a long time to see some evolution in the threesome and the author lost me a bit.
(...)
But… the story is still good and I am sure many will like it a lot. It definitely has many great and good elements in it for me to recommend it.
Wow so I fell completely in love with this story and read it in one sitting. I'm normally very wary of Ménage's but I thought I'd give this one a try and it definitely didn't disappoint. This was very much a story of healing. I can't say I've read too many stories dealing with people with disabilities and how they have to learn to deal with them. How R.C. handled this was very believable and the Ménage aspect definitely was realistic. It was a very emotional read with lots of heart, heat, and some suspense. I loved all the characters for different reasons. I loved seeing how Jake changed so much and started to believe in himself again and realize that just because he doesn't have use of his legs doesn't make him any less of a man. Jessie is very strong and loving. She agreed to try the ménage because she loved her husband so much and was willing to do anything to make him happy. Chad is just dreamy. He plays like a bad boy but he's really a great guy. I love his tough love with Jake. They all balance each other really well. The chemistry between them all is amazing. And the sex is off the charts HOT! This was a first from R.C. Matthews for me but definitely wont be my last read from her!
This book was a roller coaster ride of strong emotions. The characters were drawn so well that the reader was fully invested and cared for them. The love and friendship went so deep that you cannot help but be moved.
In addition to Jake’s story, we also are brought into Chad’s story as an FBI agent trying to bring down key mob characters. As those around him are put into real danger, the tension and suspense become relentless.
I truly did not want the book to end. It was wonderfully and sensitively written and really touched my heart. Do not miss this wonderful story. It’s not necessarily what you expect it to be.
This book was absolutely amazing! It showed the all consuming love that Jake had for his wife and that he would do anything to make her happy. It also showed a beautiful love between two best friends. Jake's struggle with his inability to be what he once was was very well written as well as the emotional mindset of all the main characters. This was a wonderful love story with a bit of danger included. Great plot, smooth storytelling and loveable characters! You don't want to miss out on this novel.
*I received this book free in exchange for an honest review* I have to say, this was an interesting menage story. To have a married couple enter into that and how it unfolds, it was interesting, sexy, and somewhat romantic. I loved watching things progress with these three. At times, I felt it was over the top with the rest of the story line, but in all, this was one yummy menage romance!
I debated getting this book for awhile but when I saw it for $.99 I jumped on it! Some heartbreak, a little suspense, plenty of steamy ménage sex and a happily ever after. What more could you want?
This book had a great start, good story line, pretty good sex but at soome point all become just boring and blah. Just Disappointed, it could've been a really good one.
I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.
In this book we meet Jake Hanson, Jessica Hanson, and Chad Wilson. What would you do if you came home different then when you left? Jake Hanson has to ask himself this very question. After coming home disabled after his last mission he wonders if he can be enough for his wife anymore. So he comes up with a solution. Not only to make him feel like a man again but help him show his wife she is a desired woman. Jessica will do anything for her husband but she wonders if this will help their marriage or destroy it. What happens when she desires them both for all time not just a one time thing. Chad never knew this was something he needed or even wanted in his life. He wonders what will happen when Jake wants to go back to just him and his wife. Will he be out in the cold or has he found a happiness he never knew existed? Can they all find a HEA or will this be to much for them all to bear?
This is an amazing story. It really shows you how someone feels but doesn't know how to express how they are feeling. It does have it's ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don't want to ruin it for any other readers. I will tell you this book will have you hooked from the first word to the very end. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
Jake feels broken after a disastrous accident left him with paralysis and in a wheel chair for the rest of his life. Even with his beautiful wife Jessie and best friend Chad by his side he was extremely depressed until his therapist gave him an idea to spice things up not only in the bedroom but in general.
Chad has been best friends with Jake for over twenty years but because of his job and a tragic loss he has become a bit of a player. Chad is shocked when Jake asks him for a big favor. With everything Jake has been through and the tight bond they have, Chad asks for one favor in return if he agrees.
Jessie is a beautiful, loving person who is madly in love with Jake. She refused to leave his side after the accident and helped him any way she could but she knew it wasn’t enough. When Jake tells her his idea she is reluctant at first but finally agrees. What happens next may surprise you.
When I first read the blurb I wasn’t sure if I’d like this story but OMFG I loved all of it. This is a story of three broken people that learn to heal from each other. Where one is weak the others are strong and there to help each other out no matter what.
You will laugh, shout, cry, feel and fall in love with Jessie, Jake and Chad. They are the best friends we all want to be and hope to have. Jake paralyzed in a sking accident is feeling less of a man, he feels it because he can'take give his wife the many different ways they made love before she now has to do all the work. Jessie feels that Jake is slipping away, he does not do the things he did before, go into the court, cook, spend time outside etc.. Chad friend is blowing him off he rarely sees him. Jake decides that a menage will solve his problems as it will give Jessie what he no longer can and he wants to see her passion. He asks Chad to help him and he agrees. See their journey, feel their joy, pain, hope, pleasure and see if this helps as Jake hopes, or destroyed as Chad fears.

I have to admit that I didn’t read the blurb about this book before I started reading. I love some of the author’s other work and felt confident that I would enjoy this. As I began to read, I was immediately struck with how difficult it must be to struggle with life changing health issues that make you question your purpose and your worth. The more I read, the more amazed I was at the dedication and love these characters felt for each other. Without judgement, this is a beautiful, unconventional love story.

I love ménage stories, but this was a a bit different in that Jessica and Chad would do anything to help make Jacob whole again. I felt the unease she had with their first try, but I really loved how the 3 of them went about it. I felt Jessica’s joy at feeling like she was with her husband again and her guilt that she was enjoying being with another man. The arc of the story was good too, it didn’t rush, but didn’t drag on either. There was emotional and physical suspense. I liked the ending, but would have also enjoyed the alternate ending. I could see it going both ways.
The plot started out ordinary but a few chapters in and you’ll feel the difference between Make Me Whole and other menage books. It is full of emotion. Yes, it has steamy sex scenes but that’s not the topmost thing you’ll remember about this book. Jake, Jessie, and Chad showed their caring for each other in every action. It may have started out as an experiment for the sake of Jake’s sanity but it turned into a deep relationship enhanced by friendship. I took half a star because I find Jessie’s character too much of a damsel in distress at that end scene but nevertheless, it’s a well-written story. [I received an advanced copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.]
I have to admit... I wasn't sure I was going to like this book when I started it... but I absolutely loved it! 💗
Jacob and Jessica have had a really rough year. Jacob was in a skiing accident that left him a paraplegic. He's been seeing a counselor and having physical therapy but has hit a roadblock. One that he hopes his best friend, Chad can help with. It's a unique idea with amazing results for everyone. Add in that it's so hot it may melt your kindle and it's a really good book.💕😍💕

This is the first book I've read by this author and I thought it was really good. It took me on an emotional rollercoaster. I loved the three characters of Jessie, Jake, and Chad. They were believable and relatable. I liked this different take on a menage and how it helped the characters to grow in their way of thinking and confidence. I will definitely be looking to read more by this author. *I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is my honest review.*
An extremely hot erotic menage read. There was a good development of characters, (you get to understand the backgrounds of each character and their motivations) but it seemed like there was sex, sex and more sex. I was almost thankful for the mafia element as it gave the story something else to read. As you read it, you realize the story could take one of two endings. The author even admits to writing both endings. Which ending does she choose?
Jacob and Jessica’s life has not been the same since the accident that left his legs paralyzed especially their once really scorching hot sex life. Jacob comes up with the idea of starting a ménage between the two of them and his friends Chad. Chad is a hot and sexy FBI agent. One issue they have is Jacob is the only one who things it’s a great idea. Can he convince the others and who will it all work out?
