Robbins's desire for a constantly evolving virus and novel take on the zombie novel have now resulted in almost immediate "turning" upon being bitten (20-40 seconds) which is absurd. Also, the zombies are now silent except for footsteps and communicate telepathically. Okay, telepathy is never explicitly stated, but with no gestures or motion "leaders" tell "drones" how to act. Also, one lone, mad, and exiled scientist has hacked this telepathy and a power-crazed army colonel is going to harness the undead army to control the world. Also, everything the core characters do doesn't result in their deaths, no matter how asinine their actions.

Things that should not happen in any book:
--Character crawls through the air vents.*

*Okay, books like Secret of NIMH or other books with rodentia as protagonists can have characters in the air vents.

Amazing, Exhilarating, Non-Stop Action and Intrigue!

Zombies by the hundreds, by the millions and more. A Military leader with very personal, not friendly, aspirations. And our heroes, Jen, Mark, Zeke and Grant. Zane gets to really flex his character in the 3rd novel by M.A. Robbins' series, the Zombie Uprising. Citadel is even better than the last two... which amazes me because they are all phenomenal! I could not stop reading unless I had to. The only thing I'm upset about? Waiting for book for in September. You can pre-order!!! 😆 Whew!!! That was an intense, fast, thrill ride of a trilogy. I'm glad the take hours on, can't wait. I want book 4 now!!! Sigh.

Enjoy, you will. My personal guarantee if to love or live zombies!

Really enjoyed the first two books in the series. Fast paced, action driven, plus a zombie moose! Who doesn't love a good zombie moose? Unfortunately, book 3 jumped the shark / nuked the fridge, and went from being a fun zombie read to a mishmash of all of the worst kinds of plot devices. From mad scientist to power hungry military leader, this turned into something along the lines of SyFy's Z Nation, which I had to give up after season 2 when it decided it wanted to be a bad copy of Grindhouse. Can't recommend this one, and I won't be able to continue the series, as I know it's only going to get worse from here with the things that just don't click for me.

Zombie Army

The Citadel is book 3 of the Zombie Uprising. The book is a good read, it follows a small group of survivors who land in the middle of crisis at every turn. Its an apocalyptic story with zombies. There is humor and big battles. There is a crazy Commander who is trying to save the world but with his own agenda. The heroine is trying to do what is right and not get killed while trying to stop the Commander. The heroine also may be a key to a cure. This is a fun read and a page turner to see what happens to the small group of survivors just trying to prevent the end of the world.

Better and better

The Zombie Uprising saga just keeps getting better and better! Book Three is a wild ride with twists and turns in the plot, excellent action, and further development of our kick ass heroine and her quirky new sidekick, Zeke the ninja extraordinaire. The end of this book will leave you breathless and craving more! In my opinion, this is a great new series that stands out amongst the multitudes of zombie apocalypse stories.

Much better than the last book! The zombies are getting smarter - how can that be?! Hive mind! The sum of a person's experiences and education is added to the hive mind and the military has been throwing countless soldiers at the horde. This may be a very bad idea - smart and understanding military tactics could be all our undoing. Also, is Military leader Butler the traitor he seems to be, or is he really trying to save humanity from a worse fate? Stay tuned!

This series gets better and better. This one has non stop action all the way through. Jen and the gang certainly have their work cut out for them. I have to admit cannot wait for the next one. If you liked the first two, you will love this one. Highly recommended must read.

Great new series!!

Definitely worth reading. A twist on your typical zombie books. Not a man made virus storyline and each book has gotten better. Can't wait till the next installment.

Good Stuff

Great series so far. I love Jen's wit and Zeke's style. Great detail and a nice spin on the zombie genre. Can't wait for the next book.

Just wish the book was longer. But lots of laughs, thank you for a great read on my commute.

The Citadel

Took on a whole different direction then I expected. These three books went by quickly, getting ready for the next. I love the origins of these zombies as I've figured out behind a good science fiction is a bit of science fact.

I’m really enjoying this series!!! This picks up right where book 2 left off. They have made it to the military base and the commanding officer has gone rogue with his own plan to take over the government with a zombie army. Moving on to book 4.

Third “book” in this 5 book series and things are getting interesting. Some changes to the zombie genre that I haven’t seen much. The characters have grown on me even though what they can do is pretty far fetched. Glad I kept with the series and curious to see how it wraps up

The first book in the series with an actual plot!!! Is it a good one? Not really, but it's there. The characters are still all dumb as shit and acting the part, but at least there are characters surviving for more than 50 pages now.

Breath holding

Another rapidly paced sequel to the zombie series. A Jaw-clenching, white-knuckled read! What could possibly happen next? On to the next book!

Originally published in the book blog Creature From the Book Lagoon.

I have been enjoying this zombie series a lot so far. I binged the first 2 books back to back, then took a bit of a break before picking the series back up with the third book. I was anxious to get back into the action.

Since there had been a bit of a break between reading book 2 and 3, I was a little fuzzy on where we left off at. The Citadel picks up exactly where book 2 left off at. There is no set up. There is very little refresher as to what has happened so far or what lead up to book 3. The story is good but it feels like we are dropped into the middle of a book. Like, the lack of set up at the start felt like part of the story was missing. You know?

Since my memory was a little fuzzy, I really wish that there had been a bit more to remind us what was going on up to this point. Since I couldn’t remember who was who or what was what, I felt like I spent a lot of time trying to play catch up and kind of failing. Just give us the basic gist of who everyone is and what was going on. That’s all. I do love all zombie action! So much fun! It is very interesting how the zombies are evolving. Very curious as to what will happen next.

Book # 3 moves the series along. It feels like there is very little set up or refresher as to what all has gone on so far. It felt like we are dropped in the middle of a story with no solid start or end. It took me a few chapters to remember who is who and where we left off at. There is awesome zombie action and I’m DYING to know what is going to happen next. Once the story gets rolling and you remember who all is who, the book really picks up. The action is high, the zombie slaying is brutal. 😀 I enjoy this series and I can’t wait to see where this series goes from here.

Good Story

The story gets better. I wasn't expecting the leader and drone thing but that made it even more exciting. That plus the fact that the zombies are starting to think. It's getting real now . I wasn't about all this army/national guard mess but what would I expect at the end.?💁 Now I've gotta go back and read part 2 because I accidentally read this part first lol. (Hey all the covers look the same) I missed how she met Mark, Zeke and Grant.
