As my bestie likes to say, the way to get over a man is to get under another. But getting under a man like Scott Danger might be more than I can handle.
He’s the heir to Danger Enterprises. Possessive, ambitious, and passionate, he'll totally eat me alive. He’s a predator caged in gilded threads, and I want to run just so he’ll chase me . . . catch me . . . take me. Shit. I’m in so much trouble, but I think I like it.
This might turn into a disaster. We might crash and burn. And while Mr. Danger thinks I need saving, I’m no damsel in distress.
I wasn’t looking for trouble, but trouble seems to have found me.
Mr. Danger is a full length Romance with an HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhanger.
Lauren Landish is a WALL STREET JOURNAL & USA TODAY bestselling author and her books have garnered a legion of praise from her readers.
When she’s not plotting about how she will introduce you to your next sexy as hell book boyfriend, you can find her deep, deep in her writing cave, furiously tapping away on her keyboard, writing scenes that would make even a hardened sailor blush.
Lauren, who lives in NC with her boyfriend and fur baby, warmly invites you to her worlds of rock hard abs, chiseled smiles, and men with deep, fat pockets…but beware! These stories are guaranteed to have you addicted and needing your next fix!
Scorpio is a great book by Lauren Landish! The author still always delivers something different from her other books. This book is sexy, emotional, sweet and romantic. I loved the characters, the cover and the horoscopes. Those horoscopes were something special and every horoscope was a great introduction of a chapter.
Madison is a bartender at a local bar. Scott goes out with his best friend to have a drink. Madison serves Scott. There is an instant attraction between them. Scott isn’t ready to say goodbye to Madison and he stays with her for as long as he can. Scott is interested in Madison and he wants to know her better, so he keeps visiting the bar. Madison is hesitant at first, but the attraction is too strong. Scott and Madison spend a lot of time together and they love being together.
I loved Scott and Madison. Scott is rich, powerful, protective and caring. He really wants a chance with Madison and he can’t forget about her. He would do anything for her and she will mean the world to him in the end. Scott could be a little controlling over Madison, but he does it with the best intentions and Madison isn’t a woman that agrees with everything easily.
Madison is hardworking, independent, kind, caring and loyal. She loves working at the bar and she can’t imagine working somewhere else. Some colleagues have become great friends and she always finds support with them. Madison recently had a bad break up and she wasn’t really looking for love, but Scott makes her feel something that she didn’t expect. Scott and Madison belong together.

Scorpio by Lauren Landish is a sexy and amazing read. Ms. Landish could write a grocery list and the way she wrote it would have me buying everything on the list, that is how great of an writer she is!!! Case in point, her latest book--- Madison and Scott make for a red-hot and steamy couple with that kind of chemistry only few can experience. Madison has been burned in the past and is not looking to go thru any of that again. Scott is dealing with tons of family drama in his life—all he wants is to love and to be loved. There is a twist to their love story and how they meet and their story is a emotional rollercoaster ride that goes up and down and round that it left me with whiplash feeling but omg is this a good story. It reminds me of a modern day fairytale story like Cinderella with lots of angst, drama, sexual tension, passion and romance. Madison and Scott feel like real people, like people you would know ; that is what makes this even more fabulous. I definitely suggest this as a must-read!!
My Rating: 4.6 stars ***** “I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me."
This is a lighthearted, cute romance story with a Zodiac theme. Every chapter starts with the heroine’s daily horoscope, which provides a little bit of whimsy to the storyline. While there’s a bit of drama and angst in this book, it’s pretty smooth sailing for the Scott and Madison. The story is well-written, but I was a little disappointed in the way that the heroine’s ex-boyfriend returned to the scene. It was handled a little too easily and a little too quickly for a nearly 400-page book. I did love the subplot with Scott and his family, and that bumped my rating up another star. I love when characters have personal growth in romance novels, and we usually only see that on the heroine’s side. To see the hero grow so much as a person as a result of his love for the heroine made my heart grow three times bigger. 4 stars.
Another great read that I couldn’t stop reading. Madison has been burned before by an ex and doesn’t want too be burned again. Going to a fortune teller freaks Madison out but what she says comes true when she meets Scott. Scott & Madison have a connection they both can’t deny but Madison is guarded. Scott will do anything to prove how much they belong together but it could backfire. Great read with great characters that I really enjoyed.

I loved this story. I have to admit I am a sucker for astrology stuff, so that was a cool element in this book. I liked the horoscopes at the beginning of the chapters. I also really appreciated that even though Scott is an alpha take charge kind of guy, Madison is in no need of rescuing. She's strong on her own.
There is a running theme throughout of strong friendships and family, even the kind of family you make on your own. I think Madison really helps Scott with that, and he helps heal her heart. I'm very happy with how it all ended, too.
Overall 4 stars Performance 5 stars Story 3.5 stars
This was an intriguing story that features a hero and heroine who have quite a bit of emotional baggage thanks to their family and past relationships. It starts off with a cryptic psychic prediction that Madison receives, that is woven into the entire plot. I enjoyed the use of horoscopes to set the tone for each chapter. The narration was wonderful and Aaron Shedlock especially shined as our hero Scott. He was able to voice multiple characters so flawlessly and perfectly, that it was easy to distinguish who was speaking. Melissa Moran was just the right amount of sassy and sweet and she voiced Madison wonderfully.
As much as I enjoyed the narration, I never quite got invested in the actual story. I didn't mind the instalove between Scott and Madison, but there were just a few too many extras (characters and sub plots) that distracted me from the main story. It seemed like there was drama just for the sake of drama and even though I am normally a fan of epilogues, having three of them without any significant time jumps in between, seemed really excessive. This was still a sexy listen, with amazing narration, but the story itself fell a little flat for me.

Madison gets talked into getting a reading from a fortune teller by her best friend Tiffany. She doesn't believe in things like this, but what's the harm? Madison is coming off a bad breakup. She was wronged, big time, by her ex and it seems after being read, her future isn't looking any brighter. Scott Danger, member if the illustrious Danger family, son of Robert CEO of Danger Enterprises, is the second son and spare. Scott is reminded of this on a daily basis. A chance meeting at a bar brings them together. Madison is working; Scott is there to drink. At least that was his original plan, but after meeting Madison, now he's not so sure. As the night goes on, they continue to flirt but the night doesn't end as either had planned. Scott leaves not knowing what went wrong. Madison is shaken to her core after remembering what the palm reader had told her earlier in the week. Days later, Scott is still replaying the night he met Madison. Soon they get over the bumps in the road and begin seeing each other. Could Scott be the one to guard over Madison while she guards his heart? Madison worries when the other shoe might drop. Scott? Not so much...but maybe he should. ORIGINAL STORYLINE WITH AWESOME CHARACTERS THAT COMPLETELY DREW ME IN FROM THE START ! DEEP, RAW AND REAL ! CRAZY, INTENSE CHEMISTRY WITH UNCONTROLLABLE CRAVING AND INSATIABLE DESIRE ! ! ! INSANE, ALL CONSUMING SEX ! ! ! A MUST READ !

I can not say that I immediately connect with the story, this time. The first feeling I had was: fun. Because it has this nice background of compatibility, of the zodiac. Of trying to guess the perfect match to experience an overwhelming and crazy love story. So take it exactly like that, some way you do when you read your horoscope. Do not believe it, but verify it. At first sight the highlight of the story is simple, original, intriguing, then gradually "warm up" a lot. And here, I must say it! honor to the Scorpio! people says that it's not among the best signs of the zodiac, well, my dear (I sto telling this being a Scorpio) it won't be the best, but it knows how to love passionately. Scorpio has an unique way to love. Therefore from this point of view Scott Danger knows perfectly what all a woman want. As I kept reading the story, I had a lot of fun checking out the characteristics of Scorpio: passionate, ambitious, workaholic, loyal, protective / possessive and a little jealous too or a bit more? Hahaha! While Maddie has a relationship with an asshole on her past that has "marked" her. Add to it that prediction written in the stars or on her hand's lines. And here again I come back to that line: Do not believe but verify. And Maddie after an initial freaking out at the sight of the powerful scorpion, well. decides to "experience" his skills. And she experiences them several times!!! With breathtaking kisses, forbidden caresses, and hot passion, crazy and deep passion. Well, on the other hand, she makes love with a Scorpio! But apart from the zodiac stuff, scorpio- libra compatibility & co, there is the real life. And at first sight beyond the instant attraction, there is a clear opposition, because they come from different worlds, have an opposite style of life. But well you know the famous line about opposites, right? And the spark starts! Turning very soon into an overwhelm addiction that is going to turn you on too. That's for sure!
I really enjoyed this book, like everything else the author writes. I started it this morning and read it straight through. I love the way she uses different, very descriptive words to better describe things. She even uses the word "kowtowing" correctly in a sentence and spells it right!
Scorpio is Madison and Scott's story. They are two people from very different backgrounds who are searching for the same thing.
When she was an infant, Maddie's mom dumped her with her aunt. Her aunt, May, turned her whole life around to raise Maddie. They didn't have much, often surviving on left over hot dogs and expired donuts from the 7-11 where May worked. But they had love and each other. Maddie is getting over a bad break-up from a really bad relationship. She and her bestie, Tiffany, share a tiny apartment and car that they use to carpool to their jobs at a bar.
Scott is a poor little rich boy. He grew up with money but not much else. There was no love or affection from his parents. His father owns a conglomerate and has always pitted Scott and his sister and brother against each other. His father has the siblings battling each other to come up with a business venture and possibly be the next CEO.
Scott meets Maddie at the bar she bartends at. They are attracted to each other but there are other elements at play. They learn a lot from each other and grow closer.
It's a great story filled with ups and downs, heartbreak and love. It has it's Pretty Woman and Christian Gray elements. It was truly a hot, sexy, feel good read. I was given a copy of this book and it is my pleasure to give this honest review.
Absolutely loved this book. Different from Lauren's other rom com books but just as captivating from the very start. Madison and Scott are such a hot and sexy couple. Madison has been burned in the past and is not looking to have that happen again. Scott has a lot of family drama to deal with and just wants someone to love/like him for himself. I loved the use of the horoscope readings a the beginning of the chapters and even the prediction from the palm reader. Which can be taken so many ways and may not be at all what Madison views it as. You will have to read this very well written book to see if what she is told comes true and whether it can be something completely different. I also enjoyed all the supporting characters in this book. Tiffany, Madison's friend is great. I love the support Madison gets from her aunt May and Stella the bar owner. Scott's friend Robbie is there to help Scott deal with all the drama his father causes not only for Scott but for his sister and brother. I liked how Madison is able to help Scot see that there is another way to achieve his goals with the family company and that working together with his brother and sister will bring them together. I could not put this book down once I started and truly loved every part of it . The HEA was great!
Scott Danger is an alpha male on a mission. His father has been pitting him against his brother and sister in a competition for control of the family business since they've been in diapers, but he's close to winning. His new business idea will make his father see that he doesn't have to be the favored son to come up with the best business plan. Madison Parker is a bartender determined to stand on her own after a bad breakup with a controlling ex. When they meet, sparks fly, but can Scott let go of his control-freak tendencies enough to let Madison be the independent woman she needs to be?
I'll admit, I started reading this book because I needed a "Scorpio" book for Nothing But Reading Challenges' "Celestial" challenge and this one was the most interesting one on Kindle Unlimited. But I'm glad I read it, because it's actually a good romance novel. The relationship between Maddie and Scott is full of twists and turns, and the cast of supporting characters and different B-plots are intriguing as well. Overall, it's a good read.
OMW what a fantastically awesome book. I love this author for many, many reasons, but the most important is that she never ceases to amaze me with her wonderful storytelling and the fact she never disappoints me. ‘Scorpio’ is an intriguing and utterly captivating, and entertaining read. This story has a easy flow to it and I just could not put it down once I started reading. I absolutely adored Scott and Maddie. They were so different but so right for each other, like two sides of the same coin. Obviously a story wouldn’t be a great story if it didn’t have a few bumps along the way, and a few bumps we got. I laughed, I felt sadness, I felt anger, and I felt flutters in my heart, all of which in my book makes a exciting and enjoyable read. Definitely both thumbs up to Lauren Landish! A copy was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book with my honest opinion.
I loved this humorous and amusing, but in no way shallow, story. I loved the mixed in drama, too, as well as the high levelled tension. This story is like a rollercoaster ride with so many ups and down that it left me breathless at times. It is kind of a modern day Cinderella story mixed with a tiny bit of Pretty Woman, lots of drama and lots of contradicting emotions…
The characters of Madison and Scott are amazing and felt so very genuine in all their tornness and problems, fighting against demons of their pasts and the thereof resulting insecurities and trust issues in the present.
And starting every chapter with the daily horoscope totally is something else and unique!
This is another masterpiece written by the excellent Ms. Landish.

When Madison friend Tiffany takes her to a fortune teller she was hoping that Madison would get out of her slump and have good feelings but what the fortune teller says scares her to death. When Scott goes in the bar Madison works at all he can see is her, but when she gets a look at his chest she throws him out. They both try to go on but they keep thinking about each other even though them ever getting together seems slim as they are both from different worlds. Scott is a workaholic and Madison works to live and this story shows how the worlds intertwine and what Madison doesn’t have in money she has in love.
Madison and Scott are finding that the fates are quite fickle ladies not to be ignored. Madison never thought she would place any stock in the mumbo gumbo black arts practices Tiffany seems so enamored with. But one trip to the friendly neighbor psychic leaves her feeling like she living under a dark cloud. When a complete stranger is able to not only pull seemingly unknowable facts from thin air, but also give a very ominous warning, it does make a girl give pause. Scott has been fighting to be worthy and competent in his father's’ eyes for years. He finally thought by pitching a be all end all idea for him, it would finally tip the scales in his favor, but his father is nothing if not a game maker. When a we earned night of booze indulgence seems like the next step, he is stunned by the path illuminated to him. Something about the beautiful, bold, and bewitching Madison calls to him. It's like like destiny has spoken, but deciphering her meanings is in the eyes of the beholder.

I’ve been having a very difficult time with contemporary romances, and then this little wonder, SCORPIO, comes along! I will admit that the cover was part of why I chose to read SCORPIO (hey, just look at it!), the blurb sounded fun, and I just hoped against all hopes, and what do you know! Lauren Landish has reconciled me with contemporary romance! I loved Madison Parker from the first page: she’s a Dolly Parton fan, wears too much makeup, but she’s all heart. I loved seeing her interact with her best friend Tiffany; the friendship felt real, and the dialogues are brilliant. I loved that the horoscope thing is taken lightly, it does play a part, but a realistic one.
Scott Danger! Swoon! Now, people, this is how one writes a confident alpha wealthy hottie: Scott – the SCORPIO – comes off as a real person, if not from the same world as Madison, who works as a barmaid in a little joint. That he’s rich and she’s not is an issue, but it’s not taken to the extreme; there is none of the eye-rolling stuff that too many authors use as a tiring and endless conflict. They do fall in love, and I believed in that attraction, in that infatuation, which slowly morphs into love, true love. Their chemistry is off the charts, and it always feels real. I almost never wish to trade places with the heroine in a novel, I almost never wish I could live in the book, but with SCORPIO I did – for the most part anyway!
Scott and Madison date, they work, we actually see them at work! – and both their occupations play important parts in the narrative. I love their backstories – and Scott’s was rather mind-boggling. SCORPIO is a fabulous romance, with minimal angst, but not without drama, everything is perfectly paced and balanced, and there is a solid story in there as well. Ms. Landish’s writing is smooth, modern, very eloquent; her characters are admirable creations: they are people we know, the friends we would like to have, they are those people we intensely dislike, and the romance we wish for ourselves. I can hardly wait to see what Lauren Landish will come up with next, because I am eagerly awaiting that next book! This is excellent!
The romance between Madison Parker and Scott Danger was a delight to my romantic senses. I definitely gave this one a 5 star rating! Lauren is a masterful writer and I try to read everything she has ever written.
She limits the number of characters so that she can develop them into breathing living people who as Madison says in the prologue "go forward despite the unpredictability of love". I could almost smell and taste the flavors of the bar where Madison is the main bartender. I could feel the animosity between father and son, Scott, and that between Scott's brother Chase, and his sister Olivia have for each other.
What I will remember is how despite their vastly different upbringings and lifestyles, they mesh beautifully, with heated sexual encounters. They both like to be in control of their lives, but they reach a compromise that is satisfactory to both. He showers her with expensive gifts dinners and formal galas, she takes him to sidewalk venders, ancient ice rinks, a pet rescue shelter. They learn that she likes figure skating and he ice hockey. He enjoys junk food as much as she appreciates fine wine and a superb dinner. She has an old broken down car, he a Lamborgini. But he needs her advice, and it is sound and wins the board of directors vote for Scott. The bar can get a bit rough at times, but Madison has over the years learned how to handle the worst of the patrons. Scott's interference is not appreciated, again they both like to be the one in control.
Besides the wonderfully descriptive sex scenes, and the control issues, Madison has a past that comes back to harm her. Scott is in the battle of his professional career, fighting his father, and his siblings for the prize of who will get the next project funded. Madison is luckier than Scott in that she has a supportive network while he had few to cheer him on.
How does one go forward when you have been abandoned and betrayed; and, the other has never known a kind word or action. Nothing but scorn and demands that nothing he does is ever good enough.
If you love a delightful romance that's somewhat light-hearted and will leave a smile on your face as you turn the last page, GET THIS ONE! I received this book as an ARC, but the choice to read/review was left to me. It was a delight to let you know about this gem by Lauren Landish. 5 Stars all the way!
I like Lauren Landish but haven't read any of her books for a while. Really enjoyed this one with the scrappy, independent Maddie, bartender, animal lover, all around good person. She meets Scott Danger, a sexy business man who turns out to be, as she thinks, way out of her league. His family is well off, well known around their town...they live in totally different worlds.
Maddie works with her best friend, Tiffany at the bar. They live together, love reading their horoscopes every day which is a big part of the story. Each dual POV chapter begins with that days horoscope for either Maddie or Scott. It's a fun, cool way to set the tone for each chapter...clever.
Back to the story. It's been a rough year for Maddie since she escaped her abusive ex-boyfriend. No dates, no fun according to Tiffany (who is a riot!), so they decide to go see a fortune teller to find out if Maddie's luck is going to change. Seems like it sure will, but she better stear clear of stinging scorpions (you'll see!).
Scott & Maddie almost connect the nite of their first meeting in the bar until she sees him with his shirt off! (You'll see & you will get it!)
So, what will happen next? Does Maddie get over whatever sent her running from Scott? Do they find common ground with one another? This book was REALLY, really great. It was so easy to read & so very difficult to put down, even for a few minutes. Let's call it book crack! I was hoping there would be a series with the Danger siblings sp the story could continue. Maybe there is more, need to look! There were a few additional bonus books in the last half of the book, so now I'm off to complete Motorhead, which left me hanging with no ending here! Too good not to find & finish. Thanks for some enjoyable reading, Ms. Landish!!!
If you like horoscopes then this is the read for you and I actually enjoyed the horoscope readings at the beginning of each chapter, even if I don’t read them myself. Scott Danger is definitely a danger to Madison but to her heart and after a reading from a psychic she is more cautious of the man who happens to be a Scorpio but also has a scorpion as a tattoo, warned of the sting from a scorpion from the psychic. But Scott doesn’t give up and needles his way in and soon the two are enjoying each other. But there is something on the horizon and neither of them can steer clear of it...will it leave Madison badly burned as predicted. I LOVED LOVED this read and Lauren Landish has a way of telling a story that you don’t want to let go. There’s steamy hot scenes to melt icebergs, as well as some suspense and action. Scott’s past and current relationship with his dad and his siblings, his need for control, his drive and determination, his need to win and competiveness...what a man..but what really got me was his ability for compassion, kindness, protectiveness and being able to be a bigger man when it really counted. I loved Madison’s independence, strength, beauty and being able to reach Scott where no else could. I loved how it all played out, I loved how there weren’t women crawling out of the woodwork, I loved how there were no jealousies or people trying to break them apart, I loved how there was no over the top drama...it didn’t need it. I LOVED how this story was about them, how they complimented each other, how the story flowed and how it all played out from beginning to end..it’s safe to say I LOVED this read ! *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
So far, I think Scorpio has been my favorite of Lauren Landish's books.
First off, the narration between Melissa Moran and Aaron Shedlock was near perfection. Both narrators did a wonderful job with their portions. They both had wonderful inflection and were great in making distinctions between each character.
I really thought the start of the story was interesting. The incorporation of the horoscope reading added a little bit of paranormal mystery. I mean would the things the psychic predict come true? From there, the opening of the chapters with the horoscope readings for the day were kind of a nice way to foreshadow what the upcoming chapter(s) would be about. Sort of guiding the story along. But they really ended up taking a backseat to everything else going on in the story. And there's a lot going on, but I really thought that Lauren Landish handled all aspects of the characters and their history very well. Never once did I feel like there were too many conflicts coming from too many angles surrounding Scott and Maddie. From Maddie's issues with an ex to her abandonment by her mother, being raised by her aunt and on the other side of that, Scott's own issues with family as well as the pitch he's trying to get approved at work. Everything plays off of / works well together keeping the story from feeling too bogged down.
As stated before, I think this is my favorite Lauren Landish (audio)book so far. I hope this book won't end up being a standalone as there's a lot of potential to continue the story with Scott's siblings.
This a great story about Madison and Scott. Madison was abandoned as a baby by her mother, raised by her aunt without a lot of money but with lots of love and care. Scott was raised with his older brother and sister always competing against them that their obnoxious father set up. One day Tiffany, Madison’s best friend talks her into seeing a fortune teller trying to get her over her ex boyfriend who tore her down and left her a mess. Madison usually does not believe in this stuff, goes and can not believe what the woman tells her and leaves angry. Scott is part of the very wealthy Danger family that owns most of the town. Scott is never treated like a son or brother and feels that he must take control and do what is necessary to win this contest set up by his father to become the CEO of Danger Enterprises. Out of nowhere Scott and his friend Robbie go for drinks at the bar Madison works at and sparks fly the moment they see each other! They have a unexpected first night but Scott is at a lost when she ends it quickly. Madison is trying to be cautious but Cater seems to push just enough that she finally lets him him. Both are surprised when they start dating and experiencing things they never have previously and grow very close and even fall in love. Will Scott take his role of a boyfriend too far and can Madison ever understand where Scott was coming from when he did what was necessary to protect her again and again? I absolutely loved how Scott handles the competition and his siblings after. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
From the opening of this book, I was hooked. Madison, a hard working, smart women has her palm read and is told she will be stung by a scorpion and will be burned. Coming off of a bad relationship, this is not what she wants to hear. Scott comes into the bar that Madison works at, and when their eyes meet, the chemistry begins. These two are combustible, but Scott being a Scorpio gives Maddie pause. Will this reading come true? Lauren Landish writes a story that is filled with all kinds of intriguing developments. The relationships of family, corporate climbing, different social classes, violent relationships, and true love are just the beginning of this complex story. Throw in the daily horoscopes for good measure, the story evolves and shows how life is not always what is expected, but what is made to expect of it. Maddie and Scott are people with understandable love and fears, and it's easy to relate to each of their situations. I love each had their own family dynamic, Scott with siblings, Maddie with friends who were like family. The melding of their very different lives is so well written by Landish, it feels seamless. I loved this story and would love to see Chase or Olivia's story come next!
The narration of this book is amazing. I love both narrators, but together reading the different POV's energized the story! Melissa Moran's portrayal of Maddie is full of emotion, you can feel the angst, love and hope with each part of Maddie's journey. Pair that with Aaron Shedlock, who gives Scott an alpha protectiveness with a sheer vulnerability and the story is magic.
This is another great story by the very talented Lauren Landish. Madison lives with her best friend, Tiffany and works a bartender for Stella, who is a mother figure to her. Part of Maddie & Tiff's daily ritual is reading their horoscope for the day. Tiffany even talks Maddie in to going to see a medium. The fortuneteller warns Maddie about a scorpion that will sting and burn her. Madison brushes it off and goes about her day. That night, Scott, who is a member of the illustrious Danger family, and his friend end up at the bar where Madison works. The fireworks are instantaneous. However, Madison has just gotten out of a seriously bad relationship. Since she wants to come out of her shell, she responds to Scott and they rendezvous after she gets off work. Start to rendezvous, I should say, as Madison totally freaks when she sees Scott's scorpion tattoo. Although freaked out, Madison eventually responds to Scott's texts and phone calls. This story is full of interesting characters, including roommate Tiffany, Scott's brother, Chase - the presumed heir of the company, and sister Olivia. Scott's father has been a bastard to his children and raising them as competitors and treats them all with disdain. Especially Scott. On their road to happiness, Madison & Scott work to overcome their pasts and to plan their path to their future together. The is no cliffhanger. This is a voluntary review of an ARC version of this book.
I can usually finish a book a day. This book took me about 2 weeks. I had such a hard time getting into it.
I really liked the characters and how independent the h-mc wanted to be. I liked the H-mc mainly for the fact that he had a heart and tried his best to overcome a lot of family hurt.
She was in an abusive relationship which you don't find out to what extent until the last part of the book. He is part of a board with his sister and brother with their dad being CEO. The dad is very awful to him and is grooming the other son to become CEO.
They meet in the bar that she works in. Things heat up in that evening until she realizes that a prediction from a fortune teller seems to be coming true. I didn't like the bar scene and how readily she was to give herself up to him in the bar where she ended up being in refuge. The woman who owns the bar had helped her in a horrible time for her and it just seemed a bit disrespectful.
I'm not a big fan of OW or OM drama. There was minimal since you don't really know the extent of the other boyfriend until the end. What I didn't like about the end was how corny it seemed. It's just me. I know it is. Everyone else loved this book and so I know I'm just the "eh" person.
I really hate leaving negative reviews because I know how hard authors work to get their thoughts and stories onto paper. The writing was great and I feel the author does well with pen to paper. I may try another book. This one just didn't work for me.

Madison Parker is trying to get over the betrayal of her ex-boyfriend, and with the urging of her best friend, agrees to go on a reading at Marie Laveau’s House of Voodoo. Just what she needed: a whimsical telling of the next whirlwind romance. Except, the revelation foreshadows a warning for Maddie to be aware of Scorpio. Madison is a bit of a commitment-phobe since her mother abandoned her she was raised by her aunt.
Scott Danger is a force all his own. He knows all too well the competition his father deliberately nurtures between his brother and sister, Chase and Olivia, at Danger Enterprises. His father pits them against each other. Scott feels the company needs to go in a new direction, away from the manipulative and destructive manner his father leads them. When Scott meets Maddie at the bar she works, they are both attracted but a tattoo on Scott’s arm alarms Maddie. Soon, their paths cross and they learn more about each other as they spend time together. There are hurdles, and lots of soul searching. Maddie helps Scott realize what he needs to do to overcome the toxic situation with his father and be closer to family and bring the business in the right direction. Great chemistry between Scott and Maddie. A wonderful story that has a satisfying ending. I received and voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Although I love and read everything Lauren writes, I think this is one of my fav’s. This story has everything - it is compelling to the point, I gave up sleep. This story is about Maddison and Scott.
