Taunton's Front Yard Idea Book: How to Create a Welcoming Entry and Expand Your

Rate this book
Front yards make strong first impressions. They set the mood when we come home and greet guests coming for a visit. They can give a home a friendly face, create a personal sense of place, and bring life to a neighborhood. But most front yards are underutilized. Many are marred by patchy lawns and overgrown foundation plantings, while in some communities, front yards all look alike. Landscape architect Jeni Webber encourages homeowners to think creatively about their front yards. In Taunton's Front Yard Idea Book, she provides ingenious ideas for expanding a home's outdoor living area. The book is both inspirational and practical, with hundreds of beautiful photographs, numerous design tips, and ideas for entries, paths, driveways, lighting, and plants.

Very nice coffee table book. None of it is very useful unless you are very well off. All the ideas are for houses that don't look anything like mine. But if you are wealthy maybe even extremely wealthy and have a four thousand square foot house on at least an acre of land, then you may be able to show some of these ideas to your landscape team so they can do what you want.

This book is pretty good not perfect. It shows many different style homes and the wonderful colored photography and text provides plenty of ideas and details to help the homeowner improve their front yard. The book covers all sorts of details including courtyards, paving, gardens appropriate for various architectural styles, corner lots etc. My only compliant is that the ideas very rather common place and the editors seemed a bit staid in their approach.
