There are some things in the universe that are just meant to be together, like Peanut Butter & Jelly or Sweet Tea & Fried Chicken or even Johnny & June Cash…but Jack Colton and Claire Hawkins? Nope. They just don’t make any sense. He’s a farmer from Tennessee. She’s the daughter of a billionaire from Boston. He’s older. She’s younger. He’s settled. She’s lost. He’s country. She’s city. She’s a virgin... The truth is, they should never even cross paths, much less get involved. Nothing good can come of it. Nope, it’s better if they remain strangers, the way the universe intended. But then again... some might say Jack and Claire are supposed to find each other. Some might even claim they have no choice. Destiny, fate, kismet, providence, the stars’ luck, serendipity—whatever you want to call it, that’s what will bring Jack and Claire together. In a deserted diner. In a small town in the middle of nowhere… Colton Farms is a full-length, stand-alone novel (almost 88,000 words). It is intended for readers over the age of eighteen due to steamy sex (and I do mean steamy) and due to graphic language. It has a guaranteed happily ever after ending, that promises to leave you smiling. Enjoy!
❤❤❤ I was lucky enough to BETA read this book for M.E. Parker, so I received an advanced copy. However, I loved the book so much that today I purchased a copy via Amazon ❤❤❤
Let me start by saying: Colton Farms is one hell of an amazing and steamy read!
On the surface Claire has it all. She’s daddy’s little rich girl with a perfect job lined up for her, an amazing BFF and a loving boyfriend. What more could she possibly want from life? When Claire finds out that her BFF is doing her boyfriend her world comes crumbling down and as it turns out, this daddy’s girl is not only smart, she’s determined to find her own path in life. As we get to know Claire better we learn that after doing everything that was ever expected of her in life, a year and three weeks prior to the story picking up, she walked out of her dad’s company with an understanding between them, that she needed a year off to do her own thing. Now that time is up (well technically it was three weeks ago), she still doesn’t know what to do, she’s wasted a lot of her dad’s money and now she’s stuck in some redneck town after sending Jonathan-what’s-his-name packing.
Jack is a hillbilly redneck farmer who’s made the mistake in believing in love when he was younger. This left him with a broken heart and an inability to trust and love again. so when Claire stumbles into the diner he’s not really wanting to get involved with another spoiled brat. However, seeing as Claire’s dad cut off all her credit cards Jack has no choice but to put on his southern gentleman behaviour and help her out, at least with a place to stay until she can fly home to daddy the next day. Due to the (almost) instant sizzling attraction between the city girl and the farm boy, a lot can happen in one night. So, when their time is up, none of them are ready to say goodbye but thanks to his farm he’s not exactly struggling for money, so instead Jack hires Claire to help him with a project on the farm. Claire is only happy to accept so she can get to know Jack better plus, she’s kind of fallen head over heels for the farm and its animals.
From I was 2-8 years old I lived on a farm where we had cattle, horses, sheep and hens thanks to M.E. Parker’s descriptive writing, I felt like I was there again. When Jack and Claire were feeding the animals, I felt like I was a part of it and it made me re-call the sounds and smell of fresh hay. When Jack and Claire are together the steam almost comes off the pages. M.E. Parker has a knack for writing sexy books with a great plot in them.
What really set this book apart for me was not only the plot, the characters or even the epilogue. It was the fact that she wrote two epilogues. One for a little down the time line and a second for much later on. That's what really got me. Because when I get so emotionally invested with characters I have a hard time letting them go, and I want to know how everything turns out for them.
So personally, I think M.E. Parker absolutely nailed it, which is why this book gets 5 ❤❤❤❤❤ from me.
This book is everything! You get a virgin, a hot alpha, serious heartbreak, great characters, a meet cute and a happy ending. What more could you want? Oh you want great writing.. well it is here also. This is the book that has made me a fan of M E Parker. This is a must read.
I received a copy of this book. I am leaving this review of my own volition.
Simply an amazing story about the city girl looking for some happiness and a cowboy who has decided love was not for him. The emotional journey that Claire and Jack take to find not only happiness but true love was a tale that not only had me laughing out loud but wiping a tear from my cheek. Each page took the reader deeper into their love story. This was a book that I highly recommend.
Claire was a big city, heiress with her mba on a road trip with her boyfriend when she found a compromising email reviewing him cheating on her with her best friend. She immediately had him drop her off in the small town they were passing through.
Witness to the drama unfolding was Jack who is a big time farmer in this county and wealthy entrepreneur. Realizing she needed some place to stay to decide where to go from here or home to Boston and the position her father had for her, she goes home with Jack.
What looks to be an overnight stay turns into a beautiful instant attraction, love and connection they just begin to explore.
This story is very hot, about a guy giving love another try and a women not only finding the guy of her dreams, but a place she feels at home, and a job she’s passionate about.
This story has some romance with lots of sexy scenes. It’s a story you get to see both pov and them work through their insecurities. Low on drama, making an easy read. Cute banter, and some cheesiness.
A little editing required but overall written well.
I loved the double epilogues, perfectly executed. Cannot wait for the next generation of stories to come from this.
This was definitely a sweet second chance romance. Both the hero and heroine were well developed and quite lovable. There was enough background story to help us understand them better. My only grip was that it seemed over drawn. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed the little recaps (and the sex was smoking hot!) but I think I would have been okay with just a short flashback. I loved the double epilogue and seeing where they ended up in the future AND the idea that there will be more from this family. Definitely enjoying this author and looking forward to more. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this story for an honest and unbiased review.*
The great character and story development made this book a very enjoyable read and kept me glued to my kindle! I enjoyed this book so much that I read it in one sitting!
She is the typical cliché of “spoiled rich girl spending daddy’s money.” However looks can always deceive. Jack knows all about this type of girl, oh yes, his heart has been broken and sealed up because of a girl just like that. He thinks he knows all there is to know about this subject. The funny thing is Jack is about to be schooled in the regard of judging someone by looks alone.
She has been good her entire life, she has done everything that has been asked of her from her father, but none seems good enough. She is still a virgin. But when daddy TELLS Claire that she is going to work at his company and she WILL marry his business partner, it becomes too much to handle. She doesn’t want to let her father down, but this is her life, isn’t it? She needs time, dad gives her a time limit of one year. The end of that year is now here. The life she has dreamed of is about to begin.
Jack is having dinner at the little diner in town, being talked to about getting out there again, meeting someone by the waitress who is also a good friend. The next thing he knows this beautiful woman barges in, and he feels a twinge of something. Nah, that can’t be since he closed that door a long time ago. His twinge became a lot more when that guy grabbed Claire’s arm.
Claire is in the middle of a little town, she just found out her as of right now ex-boyfriend was doing the deed with her now ex-BFF, and to put the icing on the cake her year is up and daddy’s has taken away her cash flow and credit cards. No place to stay, no way to get to an airport or train/bus station, no money….Claire tries to be strong, but tears fall.
Jack offers her a ride and a place to stay the night. He owns a lot of land, a great big farm and a huge mansion. To stick it to this spoiled little rich girl, Jack decides to take her to the little fishing cabin down the lane on his farm instead of his actual house. Jack wants to make her beg to leave as soon as possible. However, Claire is not at all what Jack thinks she is, and she proves this beginning the moment they get to cabin. Claire isn’t fake, she isn’t into all the money and drama that goes with it. She is honest, she also just found a place that she feels like she is at home. Claire wants to know all about Jack’s farm and wants him to let her work with him, doing real chores. He is stunned and holding onto none of this is real. There is a night of a drinking game, kind of like 20 Questions combined with Truth or Dare, and they talk, laugh and it leads to more. Not as much as either would like or admit to, but a little bit of hope starts.
The sizzle between them can’t be held off for long, and things lead to them having sex. Only neither of them call it sex, it is more than that. Claire’s first time was not wasted, there was real feelings between them. This spirals, they are together – A LOT! They are working on the farm together, Claire is learning, Jack is learning….it is a great relationship. Jack even offers Claire a real job, something that will benefit both of them. For her it will be something to put on her resume, for him it will help his farm. One month and a payment for this job.
Claire’s father appears on the farm, a talk happens between Jack and her father. They both want what is best for Claire. Dad and Jack understand one another and are in agreement about the job Claire is doing. She stays with Jack on the farm. That job’s time frame is just about up. To be honest she was done with the project early, but she is dragging it out, just to stay. But fate is a fickle thing.
A particular person reappears, and there is something said. Without talking about it, without wasting any more time someone leaves. Feelings are hurt, hearts broken and a purchase to confirm a thought transpire. Unable to take it anymore Jack reaches out to Claire’s father. Dad tells Jack what is going to happen and NOW. Jack and Claire both are called to a meeting, only the meeting isn’t taking place with who they think it is.
A surprise when Jack and Claire end up in that meeting, and it is just the two of them. Talking, asking forgiveness, and finally saying those words both of them were afraid to say first lead to the making up. It was also awesome to read the “Twenty Years Later” Epilogue.
M.E. Parker is a new author to me, but she is now added to my top 20 list of favourite authors now! I LOVED 'meeting' Jack and Claire and it was destiny and fate all rolled into one on the day they met at Susie's Diner! jack has had his heart broken in the past and Claire is basically running from having to marry a revolting man that is an utter snob. Jack's manager, Ted, and his wife, Sarah, his cook are on holiday so he goes to Susie's Diner for a good friend chicken meal. Whilst he is there the door opens and the most beautiful woman that he has ever seen walks in the door, obviously furious with the man that is following her. When he grabs hold of her arm and she tells him to let go and he won't, Jack steps in to her defense and sends the creep on his way. This is where Destiny takes hold of hers and Jack's universe. As she has no money [her dad has cancelled all her credit cards and there is no where else to go] and there is no hotel or motel nearby he lets her stay the night at his home. But Jack is guarded with his heart and whilst thinking that she is the most beautiful woman that he has ever seen, his past history makes him take her to his fishing , one bedroom cabin rather that his six bedroom mansion! As you may have gathered I simply loved this story. Jack and Claire could not have been any more perfect for each other. Every day she learned new things that she wanted to discover and experience but hadn't had the chance before. As she does so her attraction for Jack and his for her overwhelms them both and they start a passionate affair that is beyond their dreams or imaginations. But can this last? She is a Bostonian city dweller whilst he is a Tennessee farmer? Can they maintain a long distance relationship? Will she lose her joy of the novelty of farm life? What happens when the dreadful Tiffany makes another play for Jack? I know but I can't tell it anywhere near as well as M.E. parker so I strongly urge you to get your own copy and enjoy the experience of reading this love story for yourself. I must add that the epilogues were fantastic additions and really rounded the story off perfectly for me. I really do hope that we learn more of the people at Colton Farms as I think it's going to be addictive for me to read. I also loved his nickname for her!
I received a reader's copy of this book and voluntarily leave my honest opinion. So I've bought my own copy as this is one story that I will be re-reading many times in the future as it is so good.
DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED - I'm looking forward to reading M.E. Parker's other stories as I was so impressed with Colton Farms! P.S. Have your fans and air con set to MAX COOL for the steamy love scenes!
However its a year of bad decisions and ends with her finding out her best friend is sleeping with her man as well as being cut off by her father. Jack is a farmer and has been burned by his high school sweetheart and hasn't been tempted by woman since. When he sees Claire everything stops for him. Jack can't tell that not only is she younger than him but she is from a wealthy family. When her boyfriend starts giving her a hard time Jack steps in to help. When Claire is left with no money or car Jack offers to help and she ends up crashing with him. The first night together they talk as they drink getting to know each other and Jack convinces her to really talk to her father about what she wants. The next day she decides she wants to stay in the area and get a job and actually earn her own money. She tells Jack she doesn't need to stay with him but she would like to and things progress between them while she figures out what will make her passionate about doing something like Jack is about farming. Can two people from different backgrounds really have a chance at something serious? Will Claire find something she is passionate about?
This is a new author for me and will definitely become one that I will follow. This was an amazing story about two people finding love even when they weren't looking for it. The chemistry between Jack and Claire is electrifyingly hot. Once I started I couldn't put this down. I would recommend this to any of my book friends.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. I enjoyed it so much I bought my own copy.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book My first story by this author and it definitely has the wow factor. Claire Hawkins is rich, privileged, clever but unhappy. She doesn’t want to be the shopper girl, party girl and whatever girl is flavour of the month. She wants something solid, different and oh boy does she get it when she meets Jack Colton. Two people, two different lifestyles but it works. Jack comes to lauren rescue when she ditches her greedy ex Jonathan. Thinking she is a spoilt brat, he takes her to his log cabin. How wrong is he, she loved it. Their chemistry or “something” shocks them both but they are so drawn to one another and you can feel the “something” ooze from every word on the page. I was addicted to every word, reading how they get to know one another, work together on the farm ( love the goat scene, it made me laugh so much) . Then throw in family issues, crazy exes and so many twists and turns it makes a brilliant story. Loved it Icing on the cake...the 2 fantastic Epilogues.
I really enjoyed reading “Colton Farms” by M.E. Parker. It’s a great start to a new series. I love second chance romances. And for Jack, his second chance couldn’t have been more perfect. Claire was everything he never knew he needed. For Claire, she not only finds the love of her life, she also finds her true calling. She was at a cross-roads in life. She didn’t know what she wanted to do with her life, but knew she didn’t want to work for her father. Their meeting couldn’t have come at a more perfect time. What they find in each other is something neither have ever experienced. Their connection was instant and ran deep, as if they’d known each other for years.
M.E. Parker give us a wonderfully written book with complex characters you will fall in love with. I loved the double epilogue. It was great to see how life has treated these two so far into the future.
I look forward to seeing what she has in store for this series!
I absolutely loved this book from ME Parker! I am starting to love her as an author (she is still fairly new to me). She just has a way of spinning a tale that is so great to read. In this one, people make assumptions on what they see but quickly learn that apperances can be VERY deceiving. Jack and Claire really are perfect for each but it takes some serious maneuvering before they figure that out! Filled with secrets and deception, hard work and hot sex, not to mention a few misunderstandings, this book is fantastic from beginning to end! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Hero, Jack = 5/5 Heroine, Claire = 5/5 Chemistry, = 5/5 Sex, = 5/5 Plot = 5/5 Mystery = 2/5 Action = 1/5 Darkness = 1/5 Humor = 3/5 POV = Dual Would I recommend this book = yes Would I re-read this book = yes Would I read future books by this author = yes
This was such a great book. If you are looking for a good story with STEAM and a HEA this is the one. These two are so cute together from the start. It is like she gets to see life the way it was intended for it to be for her. Yes there are a few mis steps along the way, but that is how life truly can be. You can never judge a book by its cover and both of these two characters show you that throughout the story. The ending could not be more perfect. Plus you get to see what life as in-store for them in the long run. I definitely recommend this book for a good time!
I totally loved this book! The plot was great.....You could really feel the connection between Jack and Claire. I really felt like I had known them my whole life. Their connection was in-depth and off the charts. The chemistry between them was off the charts hot. The story-line flowed smoothly throughout. I was hooked from the very beginning. Both characters were well-developed and easily relatable. The one thing I loved the most about this book is the epilogues. Ms. Parker did one two years out and then a second one twenty years later. I really loved that!!! I can't wait to read the other books in this series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a free copy of this book....
Claire is in limbo. She's supposed to be working for her very wealthy dad, but she's taken a year off to figure out her life. Her time is up. On vacation with her boyfriend, she discovers that he's been sleeping with her best friend! She dumps him and gets stranded in the only restaurant in town. She meets the very sexy rancher Jack. He offers to help her out. I loved reading this heartfelt, sexy, erotic story. Their relationship starts out so sweetly. I loved how Claire helped heal Jack, and how Jack helped Claire grow into her own skin. Really great story that I couldn't put down!
I really liked this story and the characters of Jack and Claire. Claire is stranded in a small town in Tennessee. Luckily for her, Jack comes to the rescue.
I loved the way talked to Claire and that he was always calling her beautiful or naming her, Freckles.
I loved that Claire was such an unselfish, hard working, caring person. Nothing like Jack initially thought of her.
I will definitely look into future books in this series if that’s the route the author chooses.
I really enjoyed reading this. You could feel the sexual tension building between Jack and Claire right from their meeting and it got hotter the further you read. I was so caught up in the emotion and the love building between them I didn't even realise I'd got to the end, and that epilogue oh my so beautiful I cried. I want to read more about this family. 5 breathtaking stars.
I read a lot. Like 7 days a week a lot. And this is one of the best, well written books I've read. The struggles they Emmy through to not only make it but to hand all of their dreams come true. I was hooked from beginning to end. I think I only slept for 3 hours just so I could get up to read it and finished it on my break at work. I love how they met and how prefect they were for each other. I will definitely finish this series.
Ms. Parker you have managed to write another book I fell in love with. And yes I am looking forward to the next one in this series! I loved the characters of Clair and jack and their exploits. All of them couldn’t be any sexier! Now for the few words I mentioned, keep them coming! You could actually become less of a lawyer and even more time as a writer! Thank you, kathy
I liked that the was a relatively short and sweet romance. Sometimes you just need that, especially with everything in this COVID-19 rioting world that sounds like a far fetched apocalyptic drama. The characters were easy to like except for the bad girl. There was little angst, which again, I appreciated. Try it for a little light hearted and trashy fun.
This book was recommended to me and I’ve got to say I’m glad it was omg I just loved it I was so sad that Claire was cheated on by her best friend with her boyfriend what a rough blow. But dang this read was hot hot steamy and oh so good I loved it even if she was a daddy’s girl.
I’ve quickly become addicted to this author. This was a wonderful lead book into a series. The instant connection between Claire and Jack was oozing from the pages. The whole city meets country was appealingly sweet. I’m excited to see what the future holds for each of the kids.
This is the second book I've read from this author and OMG I absolutely love her writing!! I absolutely loved this book!! An awesome storyline, amazing characters and the passion was off the charts HOT!!!
So enjoyed this story. Love a story when soul mates connect straight away. They just know each other is the one. Throw in an ex and it adds a little spice. Loved the epilogues. Winning.
Nice romance with two complementary leads. Plenty of feel good moments and I enjoyed both epilogues with the 18 year and gender perspectives. Recommmend
This book is absolutely amazing!! I did not want to put it down!!! Enjoyable read from the very first page!! I can’t wait to see what happens next!!! Highly recommend!!!!!!
